Play as Classic Simon:
Unlock Boss Rush mode, then press Up(2), Down(2), Left, Right, Left, Right, B, A, Select at the Konami logo. Select Boss Rush mode to play as the NES version of Simon.

Play as Maxim:
Unlock Boss Rush mode, then hold L + R at the Boss Rush menu. Keep the buttons held until the difficulty setting is selected. You will now control Maxim in Boss Rush mode.

Sound test mode:
Successfully complete the game with the good ending (where you rescue Maxim and Lydie).

Collectibles mode:
Get any collectible during game play to unlock the "Collectibles" option at the "Secret Info" menu, which lists all the collectible items that you have found.

Hint: Juste's drop kick:
You must have the Lizard Tail and the Glyph Feather for this trick. Have Juste jump twice, then press Down + Jump. She will drop kick, giving damage to an enemy.

Hint: Maxim's spells:
Once you can play as Maxim, you can do spells that Juste cannot. For example, face the right side of the screen and press Left, Down, Right, Down, Left + B to duplicate Maxim. The two copies will fly around the screen, attacking enemies.

The spell used to summon duplicates that attack enemies (Left, Down, Right, Down, Left + B ) will summon a healing when there are no enemies around. This will enable Maxim to travel further and leisurely get to a save point. Facing right does seem to ensure your success at healing.

To activate the spell that make duplicate Maxim to kill all enemies on screen, press Away, Down/Away, Down, Down/Towards, Towards, Down/Towards, Down, Down/Away, Away + B.

To activate the healing spell, press Up, Down/Towards, Toward + B.

Hint: Defeating Evil Maxim:
Note: You must be at level of 45 or higher. In the start of the battle, equip the Wind Book and use the Punch sub-weapon to give off a short blast that does 300 damage or more. This is very helpful when Maxim powers up and shoots copies of himself. Keep using it until he stops. The rest of his attacks should not give you to much trouble. Note: Items like Elixir and High Mana Prism are useful for this battle.

Hint: Fang Of Vald:
The hardest item in the game to get is the Fang Of Vlad. In Castle A, go to the clock tower and race the Pinbale to the end to get the Bolt Book. Then, go back in the maze until you get to a far left part with a group of wooden platforms. Go straight up to the wall and perform a slide dash. You will go under to the wooden platforms. Hold Down and press A to get down to the next platform. Repeat this until you get to the bottom. Go into the room on the left and get the Fang Of Vald. This relic increases your defense.

Hint: Summoning Tome:
Go to Castle B's Skeleton Cave. First, have the Griffin's Wing and go into the double exit save room near the entrance area with the big pillar. While in the save room, save the game then use the Griffin's Wing and go through the roof. You will get Wizard's Urn and Summoning Tome.

Hint: Easy experience:
When you enter the Room Of Illusion early in the game, you will encounter small flying enemies directly at the entrance. They are worth about 4 experience points each and never stop appearing. You can use them to level up as much as desired. A good way to kill them is to hold B so that your chain will just sit therem killing all the enemies as they appear.

Hint: Other warp room:
When you are in a warp room between Castle A and B, press Down + A to teleport to another warp room on the map. For example, if you are in a warp room in castle A and press Down + A, you will warp to another warp room.

Hint: Boss Rush message:
Enable the "Play as Classic Simon" code and complete Boss Rush under the hard difficulty setting. You will see your time as usual, but there is also an ending sequence afterwards. It shows the castle from a different position. After a few seconds the castle will fade and a message reading "Simon Belmont forever" will appear.

Hint: Rare Ghost:
The Rare Ghost can only be seen in specific parts of the castle. The easiest is in the room below the Clock Tower B warp point. Keep entering and exiting the room until you see it. Note: It will appear twice every twenty times at the very least. Once it sees you, it will run.

Hint: Gradius reference:
When you combine the Bolt Spellbook with the Bible secondary weapon, your character will have a double orb shield in front of him. This shield is one of the shields from Konami's classic Gradius series, with similar sound effects when it collides with enemies.

Glitch: Keep relics:
Get all of the Dracula relics and go to Castle B. Equip both the JB and MK Bracelets. Go down into the room and you will start fighting Maxim after talking to him. Defeat Maxim and all the Dracula relics will start flying around and Dracula Wraith will appear. When the battle starts, enter the pause menu and go to "Relics". You will see that you still have all of the Dracula relics, even though they flew away and made Dracula.
