In-game
reset: Press A + B + Start + Select during
game play.
National
Dex: Have over sixty Pokemon in your Pokedex and defeat the Elite
Four. Return to Pallet Town and see the professor. He will give the National
Dex to Gary and yourself. You can use it to see the data for all 386
Pokemon.
Use the following trick to get
the National Pokedex before defeating the Elite 4. Pokemon Ruby or Sapphire
and an already completed game of Fire Red or Leaf Green is
required. Trade a Pokemon that does not appear in Fire Red or Leaf
Green into the completed version. Then, use the wireless link to send
the new Pokemon into the incomplete game.
Network
Machine: This allows you to trade to Pokemon Ruby and Sapphire.
Fix the Network Machine on One Island. To do this, get the Sapphire and Ruby
items and take them to the machine.
Mystery
Gift option: Enter any Pokemon Mart and go to the clipboard that is by the
shop keeper on the counter. Take the survey and enter in the words
"LINK TOGETHER WITH ALL". The man will then alert you that you can
now have access to the Mystery Gift option, after saving. To make it easier
to find the word you are looking for, press Select, which will take
you to A-Z mode, then select the a letter to bring up a list of words,
beginning with the first letter of the word that it begins with.
To get Mystery Gift, go to any
Pokemart in the Kanto region . Look for a cilpboard next to the owner of the
store, next to the bottom side.
Hint:
Get all starters: To get all the starters (Bulbasaur,Charmander, and Squirtle), you
will need two Game Boy Advances and another Pokemon GBA game. Start
with Bulbasaur, then trade it to your other Pokemon game. After that,
start a new game. Start with Charmander and trade it. Then, start another
new game and start with Squirtle. Keep Squirtle and catch two Pokemon that
you do not want. Trade them for the other two starters you traded to your
other Pokemon game. You will now have all three starters.
Use the following trick to get
the three starters without trading. It requires Pokemon Box on the
Gamecube. First, receive your first starting Pokemon in Pallet Town. Then,
defeat your rival and go to Viridian City. Get the Oak Parcel then go back
to Pallet Town for the Pokedex. Catch a Pokemon of your choice, then return
to Viridian City. Turn off the game and transfer your starter Pokemon to Pokemon
Box. Make a new game and do the same trick with other Pokemon. When two
of the Prof. Pokemon are in the Pokemon Box, return it when you get
your first Pokemon. You will then have the three starting Pokemon without
trading.
Hint:
Recommended starter: Choose a starter Pokemon (Bulbasaur recommended), then battle
your rival. After you reach One Island, make sure you have two Fire Pokemon.
This depends on your starter Pokemon. Also, make sure that one is highly
trained, so it has at least one strong attack. Also, make sure this Pokemon
is a male. Then, put them in the daycare. When they find an egg, take it.
Then, train this Pokemon to a high level (just high enough to defeat your
rival).
Hint:
Aerodactyl: To get the ancient Pokemon Aerodactyl, go to the house to the
right of the Museum in Pewter City. Note: You must have Cut. Talk to the
scientist and he will give you the Old Amber. Take it to the Lab on Cinnabar
Island and let the scientist bring it back to life. It will be at level 5.
Hint:
Articuno: Surf south from Fuschia until you hit a barrier. Then, Surf west
to the Seafoam Islands. When you see boulders, push them into the pits to
reach the legendary bird Articuno.
Hint:
Beedrill: Recommended moves: First, catch a Weedle . Then, train it until it turns into a
Beedrill. Teach it the TM Aerial Ace . Train it (use it at gyms that use
Grass/Bug Pokemon ) until it is at level 50. It should know the move
Endeavor. Use it at tight spots.
Hint:
Deoxys: It is possible to get Deoxys at an island in which you solve a
simple puzzle.
To get Deoxys, go to Island 9
and push the triangle forward. Deoxys will appear.
To obtain Deoxys, you must
travel to Island 9. To do this, you need to obtain the Aurora Ticket, which
can only obtained through a Nintendo Event, such as Pokemon Rocks America
2004. Bring your Pokemon Fire Red or Leaf Green cartridge to any of the
events in Atlanta, Minneapolis, or Seattle to receive the Aurora Ticket. The
same goes for obtaining Lugia, Ho-Oh (both on Island 8, requiring Mystery
Pass); and Celebi and Mew (details unknown). Note: Ho-Oh can also be
obtained via a link to Pokemon Coliseum.
You will need the Aurora
Ticket. Go to any Pokemart and fill out questionnaire on the counter with
"LINK TOGETHER WITH ALL" as your response. You will get the
Mystery Gift system. Select "Wonder Gift" from the Mystery Gift.
Talk to the person with the green hat at the Pokemon Center. He will give
you the Aurora Ticket. To capture Deoxys, you must get to Birth Island, then
hop on the boat in Vermilion City. Get a lot of Ultra Balls. In Pokemon
Fire Red have all level 40 or greater Pokemon. In Pokemon Leaf Green
make sure that your Pokemon are at least level 30. Hop off the boat and you
will see a triangle-shaped puzzle, with a black triangle in it. To get
through it, start at the bottom. Take a step down and go all the way left.
Go three steps right then go all the way up, Go five steps down, all the way
to the right. Go three steps up and go all the way to the left. Go all the
way to the right. Go two steps left then all the way down. Go one step down
and all the way to the left. Go all the way to the right. Go three steps
left then face down. Save the game at this point. Examine the triangle and
Deoxys will jump out.
Note: In the Pokemon Fire
Red, you will get the attack version of Deoxys.
Hint:
Espeon and Umbreon: Trade Evee to Pokemon Ruby or Sapphire. Then,
increase Friendship and depending on the game's time, Evee will evolve into
Espeon or Umbreon. Then, trade them back. Repeat everything to get both
Pokemon. Note: Breed Umbreon or Espeon for another Evee. Also, this only
works after you obtain the National Dex.
Hint:
Evee: Use the following trick to get all three forms of Evee (Flaeron,
Jolteon, and Vappeoreon). Take an Evee, Flareon, Jolteon, or Vapeoreon and a
Ditto to the Daycare Center. Then, wait for the man to step out with an egg.
It will be an Evee. Then, give it a Fire, Water, or Thunder Stone. Do this
again to get all three.
Hint:
Hitmon: Get all forms: First, get either Hitmonlee or Hitmonchan and Ditto. Take both to
Four Island. Give the Day Care Lady Hitmonlee or Hitmonchan and Ditto. Then,
leave for awhile and return. You will get an egg containing Tyrogue. Train
Tyrogue to level 20. At this level it will evolve into Hitmonlee,
Hitmonchan, or Hitmontop. Do this twice and you will get another egg
containing a Tyrogue. Note: To get Hitmontop at level 20, you need Tyrogue's
attack to equal its defense. To get Hitmonlee (if you choose Hitmonchan) at
level 20, Tyrogue's attack must be higher than its defense. To get
Hitmonchan (if you choose Hitmonlee) at level 20, Tyrogue's attack needs to
be lower than its defense.
Hint:
Lapras: On the Island 4, go to where you met Lorelli of the Elite Four.
Then, Surf on the water . If you are lucky, you will see a wild Lapras.
After you get the tea from the
woman on the first floor of the Game Freak building, go to the exit near the
Pokemon Center. Then, go to Silph Co., which is located in Saffron City.
Wander your way to Giovanni. Before you get to his room, you will battle
your rival. After you defeat him, a man will appear. After you defeat
Giovanni, go back and talk to him. He will ask to give you a Lapras.
Hint:
Ledyba: Ledyba can be found in Pattern Bush on Six Island.
Hint:
Mewtwo: Defeat the Elite Four, then go to the Cerulean City Cave. Mewtwo
will be there. You will need HM6 Rock Smash and HM3 Surf.
Mewtwo can be caught with an
Ultra Ball only when asleep.
Hint:
Moltres: To get Moltres you need HM4 Strength, HM6 Rock Smash, and HM3
Surf. Go to One Island, and all the way to the right until you reach water.
Surf to the north and you will see land. Continue to go north until you hit
water again. Then, Surf north again until you reach land. Go up and move the
boulders. Continue to go up and you will enter Mt. Ember. Pass the mountain
and you will see more boulders up ahead. Move them and you will encounter
Moltres, the Legendary Fire Bird Pokemon.
Hint:
Togepi: To get Togepi you must have the Rainbow Pass. Go to Island Five.
Go to Water Labyrinth and look on the map. You should see a bit of island.
Go to it and talk to the old man. He will give you an egg; it is Togepi. The
egg will hatch after 1,500 steps. Togepi will be at level 5.
Hint:
Vaporeon: To get a Vaporeon that knows Water moves, evolve an Evee that
knows a Fire or Thunder move. Then, make a baby with a Ditto and hatch it.
It should know a Fire or Thunder move. After that, evolve it into another
type. If your Eevee knows a fire move, you can evolve it into a Vaporeon and
it would know a fire move, even though it is a Water type. You can do the
same thing to another Pokemon if you can hatch a baby or evolve it.
Hint:
Zapdos: To catch a Zapdos, go to the Pokemon Center beside the Rock Cave.
From the Pokemon Center, go up until you reach water. Surf to the Power
Plant and go inside. Find your way around, and at the end you will find
Zapdos, the Thunder type Legendary Bird.
Hint:
Legendary Dogs: The legendary dog that you get in the game depends on your
starter.
To get all three Legendary
Dogs, get together with two friends before any of you start the game. Have
one player get Charmander, another get Squirtle, and the other get
Bulbasaur. Each of you will get one of the legendary dogs: Charmander,
Suicune; Squirtle, Raikou; and Bulbasaur, Entei. Once each of you has their
own dog, trade one dog for another. For example, player one's Suicune for
player two's Entei; player three's Raikou for player one's Entei; and Player
three's Raikou for player two's Suicune.
Use the following trick to
easily catch Suicune, Raikou, or Entei without a Master Ball. Get a Pokemon
the learns the move Mean Look or something similar, or get a Pokemon with
the Arena Trap or Shadow Tag abilities to prevent them from escaping. If
they do, you will get another chance to catch them, providing you do not
make them faint.
Hint:
Johto Pokemon: To get your first Pokemon from the Johto Region, defeat the Elite
Four. Go to Island 3, then go in the tunnel. Talk to the man and he will
give you a Nugget. Go out the door, and there will be a small patch of
grass. Walk around in it, and you will find your first Johto Pokemon.
Hint:
Duplicate Pokemon: Note: This trick will only work on Pokemon that have a gender.
Either male or female will do. For example, if you want a friend's Charizard
but you do not want to trade a level 100 male Venusaur for it, catch a Ditto
on Route 13 to 15. Take both your Venusaur and Ditto to 4 Island to the old
couple and breed them. The next morning you will have a Bulbasaur egg ready
to trade. This can be used to get all the evolutions of Evee. Note: This
trick will not work on Mewtwo or most of the legendary Pokemon.
Use the following trick to
easily reproduce rare Pokemon, such as Charizard, Lapras, etc. Capture a
Ditto in Pokemon Fire Red or Leaf Green. These can be found in
the cave at Cerulean. Transfer your Ditto to Pokemon Sapphire or Ruby,
then take it to the Daycare couple in Mauville and leave it there. The
quickest way to get an egg is to cycle back and forth a few times in front
of the Daycare Center until the old man comes out of the gate. The egg he
gives you will hatch into the first evolution of whatever Pokemon you put
into the daycare. For example, a Charizard will give you a Charmander. Trade
with friends to get the other starters, breed an egg, then trade back. The
hatched Pokemon will have you as the original trainer. Some Pokemon will not
breed in this way, even though they have a gender (such as Latios and
Latias).
Hint:
Strong Pokemon: To get a Pokemon that us extraordinarily strong, you must catch
it at a low level (for example, level 3). The lower the level, the more
powerful they can get when they level up. You also need to catch the Pokerus
(Pokemon Virus). To get the Pokerus, you must not ever run from a battle --
you need to have the same Pokemon do an extreme amount of battling. Once a
Pokemon gets it, the virus will spread to all the Pokemon in your party.
They will grow extra strong from the boosted stats earned when leveling up.
For example, if a level 3 Magikarp is caught and catches the virus when
training, its stats will increase by 4 or 5 instead of the usual 3. As a
result, when it gets to be a Gyrados at level 100, it will have over 400 HP.
Also use Medicine to boost stats. The virus can only be caught once per
Pokemon and does not last forever. It goes away after you go to the Pokemon
Center too many times.
Hint:
Easy breeding: When breeding, if the Pokemon you intend to breed is difficult to
find catch a Ditto at about the same level as your other Pokemon. There is a
better chance of getting eggs if the partners are almost the same level. For
example, you can hatch eggs with Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Eevee,
Wynaut, and Togepi.
Hint:
Breeding legendary Pokemon: To get more than one legendary Pokemon (if it is a female) go to
the Day Care woman and put the legendary Pokemon with any male Pokemon. Walk
around for awhile then go back to the Day Care man. If he has stepped
forward, he has an egg for you. Take it and walk around for awhile. It will
hatch into the legendary Pokemon that the female was.
Hint:
New moves: There are four new moves not found in earlier Pokemon games:
Blast Burn (Fire): Power:
120, Accuracy: 100, leaves the user immobile the next turn.
Hydro Cannon (Water): Power:
120, Accuracy: 100, leaves the user immobile the next turn.
Frenzy Plant (Grass): Power:
120, Accuracy: 100, leaves the user immobile the next turn.
Volt Tackle (Thunder): Power:
120, Accuracy:100, slightly hurts the user.
To get the new moves, you must
go to the woman's house on Cape Brink on Island Two and talk to her. If your
starter is Charmeleon, you will get Bast Burn; Squirtle is Hydro Cannon; and
Bulbusaur is Frenzy Plant. To get Volt Tackle, you must use an electric
Pokemon. You must have the Pokemon first in your party.
Hint:
Poison Sting: The Poison Sting attack can always poison if you press and
release A at the exact time.. Time it by looking at one of the
bubbles. For example, fight a Mankey. The one that crosses the hand to the
left of the screen is the one to time it by, by pressing A just as it
starts to pass the hand and releasing it just as it pops. It always poisons
the enemy. This works for all Pokemon with the Poison Sting ability against
all enemies, except for Bug types. Also, the Constrict attack can always get
criticals if you press and release A twice while the vines are
pulsating.
Hint:
Amulet Coin: Catch forty different kinds of Pokemon. Then, go to the entrance
of the cycling road next to Celdon City. Go up the stairs of the house.
Then, talk to Professor Oak's aide. He will give you an Amulet Coin.
Hint:
Berries: Find a black mark in the grass, then go up to it and press A.
Note: This will not work with items such as Big Pearl, Stardust, and Rare
Candies.
Hint:
Black Belt: After you get to One Island, travel up the path called Kindle
Road and go towards the volcano. Along this route, you will encounter
several trainers with Fighting-type Pokemon. Have your Pokemon use Thief to
steal a Black Belt from each of the Pokemon. After you have a Black Belt,
take it off your Pokemon and use the VS Seeker to fight the opponent again.
Steal another Black Belt from his other Pokemon. Every Fighting-type on this
route is equipped with a Black Belt, which boosts the power of all
Fighting-type moves.
Hint:
Diploma: Complete the National Dex by catching all 386 Pokemon.
Hint:
Luxury Ball: To obtain a Luxury Ball, you must have rescued Lady Selphy from
the Lost Cave on Five Island. After she returns to her house, she will
ramble on about how bored she is, then ask to see a Pokemon. When she does
this, fly back to the Five Island Pokemon Center and take out the Pokemon
that she requested to see. Go back to her house. Place the Pokemon she wants
to see first in your party and talk to her. She will call her butler over to
you and reward you with a Luxury Ball. These balls are rare and cause the
Pokemon captured by them to become more friendly, as if they were holding a
Soothe Bell. You can do this as many times as desired. Selphy will sometimes
give you another item besides a Luxury Ball, such as a Pearl. Note: If you
save and turn off your Game Boy Advance, Lady Selphy will ask to see another
Pokemon other than the one she asked for before.
Hint:
Nuggets: Go to the last person (Team Rocket member) on Nugget Bridge. Lose
to that person after you get the Nugget. Repeat this until you have the
desired number of Nuggets. Note: If you save the your game after defeating
him, you will no longer be able to do this.
Hint:
Rare Candy: To get more Rare Candies, look for some Meowths. You are 30%
likely to get one.
Hint:
Repel and Super Repel: Repel and Super Repel will keep all wild Pokemon of a lower level
than the first Pokemon in your party from attacking. However, if the wild
Pokemon is of the same level or higher, it will attack. Due to the decreased
amount of Pokemon to fight, you will have less random encounters. To exploit
the use of this, go to a cave with high level Pokemon such as at Victory
Road or Union Cave. Use the Repel once inside. Find a boxed-in type of
corner and tap the D-pad gently towards a wall. If done correctly,
you will not hear a bumping sound. Doing this should not reduce the number
of steps remaining on you Repel counter, because the Repel only counts
movement that causes the character to take a step not turning. Just turn
into a wall to make it easier for beginners. This trick is useful because
you are always facing a Pokemon that is of equal or greater level, allowing
you to get levels much faster than usual.
Hint:
Ruby: Go to Mt. Ember. You must fight two Team Rocket goons.
Afterwards, go into the cave and navigate your way through it. In the end
you will find the ruby and get out of the cave.
Hint:
Running Shoes: Follow through Viridian Forest, go to Brock (the first gym
leader), and defeat him. Brock has three Pokemon: Geodude level12, Onix
level 14, and Geodude level 11. Then, go to the path that leads to Mount
Moon's base. Try to go past the man standing slightly past the entrance. He
should stop you. He is Professor Oak's assistant. After talking to him, he
will give you the Running Shoes.
Your aide will give you the
Running Shoes after the first gym.
Hint:
Sacred Ash: Go to the Naval Rock Island (if you have the Mystic Ticket), and
to the location where Ho-oh confronted you. Use the Itemfinder and it will
automatically dig up the Sacred Ash, just like the Macho Brace at Viridian
Gym after Giovanni left; and the Top from Pokemon Tower after Mr. Fugi left.
Hint:
Sapphire: Go to the dotted hole and use Cut. You must go to your Pokemon
menu and go to the Pokemon that has this ability. Next, fall into the first
hole. You are now on Basement Floor 1 (B1). Go through the north hole and
you will land on B2. Go through the west hole once you are on B2. Once you
arrive on B3, go through the west hole and you will drop down to B4.
Finally, go though the south hole on B4. You will then arrive in a room.
When you go to the jewel, a man will come down and take it. However, he will
give you the second password to the Team Rocket hideout. When you go there,
you must fight the man in the end. After you defeat him, he will give you
the jewel. You must then take the Sapphire to Celio, and then the link
between Hoen and Kanto will be open
Hint:
Thunderstone: In the Power Station, in the room with Zapdos, use your
Itemfinder to locate an item in that area. You should find a Thunderstone.
Hint:
Celedon City: Easy slot machine wins: Use the slot machine at Celdadon City that is at the top in the
row you face when you enter. It seems to be easier to get triple sevens if
you can time it correctly.
Hint:
Naval Rock: When you first go in, just go straight until you hit a wall. If
you want to get Lugia first, go to the right. If you want Ho-oh first, go to
the left. It really does not matter, because you can get both. They will
both appear at level 70.
Hint:
Vs. Seeker: Go to the Vermilion Pokemon Center and talk to the girl closest
to Nurse Joy.
Hint:
Silph Co.: Go to the fifth floor. Then, go right until you reach a wall. You
will see a Team Rocket grunt. Do not go in front of him. Instead, go all the
way up so he must walk to fight you. Make sure that when he walks up, he
makes it so you can walk past him after you defeat him. An easy way to
defeat him is to use Water type Pokemon with Surf, After defeating him, go
behind him down the narrow path, then turn. You will see a Pokeball. It has
the Card Key, which is the item that you need to open doors. Go back out and
down to level three. Go left until you see a locked room that has a portal
in it. It also has a locked room behind it as well. Go into the first locked
room and use the warp. Make sure you have some strong Pokemon to battle your
rival. Defeat him, then talk to the man standing against the left wall. He
will heal you and give you Lapris. Then, go through the other portal (not
the one you came from, but other on on the other side of the table). Defeat
the Team Rocket grunt, then defeat the Team Rocket Boss. Next, talk to the
owner of Silph Co. He will give you the Master Ball. You now can fight Gym
Leader Sabrina.
Hint:
Getting into the dotted hole: Go to Six Island, then go to the dotted hole. Go to the door (Cut
required). Press Start and go to "Pokemon". Go to the
Pokemon that has Cut. Select it, then use Cut. The door will come down.
Hint:
Wall writing: The tablet in the dotted hole reads "Let the two glittering
stones one in red one in blue connect the past! The friends sharing power
open a window to a new world that glows! The next world waits for you!"
Write down this message including the "!"s and their symbols to
unlock the other wall writings in other caves. There are hidden Pokemon in
these caves. Each letter has one symbol and spaces are blank.
Hint:
Bite: With the Bite attack, you can always make the enemy flinch if you
tap A at the exact moment that the star shape appears (use the teeth
to time it). This requires exact timing, and may take awhile to get it
correct.
Hint:
Body Slam: On the Body Slam, hold A when the star shape used for an
impact appears. Release the button when the enemy starts moving back to
where it was, but before it gets there. You will always paralyze the enemy.
Hint:
Defeating Bruno: After you have already conquered the Elite Four, use a strong
Fire and Flying type and you will win. One strong attack from a Charizard,
such as Fire Blast will be able to obliterate both Steelix with one hit.
Hitmonlee can be defeated from one Fly (HM Tech) attack. Hitmonchan can be
defeated with a Fly attack, followed by a quick Wing Attack.
Hint:
Defeating Giovanni: An easy way to defeat Giovanni in all battles is to use a Water
Pokemon with Surf on all his Pokemon.
Hint:
Defeating the Elite Four: After you defeat the Elite Four and you give Celio the Ruby and
Sapphire Plate (on the seven islands), you can re-challenge the Elite Four.
Their Pokemon are now changed and become much more stronger than the first
time you challenged them. Here are the combinations:
Lance: Gyarados level 68,
Kingdra level 66, Aerodactyl level 70, Dragonite level 66, Dragonite level
72 (one of his Dragonair evolved, and the other was replaced by Kingdra).
Rival: Heracross level 71,
Alakazam level 69, Tyranitar level 72, and depending on who you chose at
the start;
If you have Bulbasaur: Gyarados level 71, Exeggutor level 73, Charizard
level 75.
If you have Squirtle: Gyarados level 73, Arcanine level 71, Venusaur level
75.
If you have Charmander:Exeggutor level 73, Arcanine level 71, Blastoise
level 75.
For Lorelei, you need a level
60 or higher Electric type with like Thunder or Thunderbolt. Watch out; her
Piloswine is also a Ground type and is immune to Electricity. Use Water type
or Fighting. Bruno is very easy to defeat if you have a very good Water type
for the Steelixes and a level 53 or higher Alakazam or Kadabra; or a very
strong Psychic type. Agatha is tough because of her speedy Pokemon. If you
have an Alakazam and it is at least level 58 or higher, then you will have
no problems. If not, try using a strong Steel type. Lance is annoying
because he now has a Kingdra, which is not really affected by Ice types
because of its Water type. Use a tough Electric type. The rest are easily
dispatched by an Ice Beam or Blizzard. Your Rival is difficult. His
Heracross has good speed, but flying attacks kill it because of his double
weakness. His Alakazam can be defeated by a good Hyper Beam or even Strength
because it lacks defense (not special defense). His Exeggutor or Gyarados
are poor, but his Arcanine is strong -- do not underestimate him. The real
problems are his Tyrannitar and the starter. Tyrannitar is good in every
stat, and he is a Dark type which makes him unaffected by Psychic types. He
is also a Rock type, so use Razor Leaf or Surf. The starter is tough, and is
not easily dispatched.
Go to the Safari Zone, and stop
in a grassy area. Keep pressing the D-Pad gently to rotate on the
spot. This should not waste your steps. Keep doing this until you meet a
Ryhorn. Throw a rock at it. If you are lucky, the Ryhorn will not flee.
Then, use a Safari Ball. To catch it, press A(5) each time the Safari
Ball shakes. If done correctly, you will catch it. Raise it to over level
65. It should now have learned a one-hit KO (kill), "Horn Attack"
or something similar. Use it on the Elite Four to win. Also, pack some Max
Revives in your bag. Also, have more Pokemon (one Water, one Rock or Steel,
one Electric, one Fire, and one Flying) Recommended choices are Gryados
level 50+, Steelix level 55+, Raichu level 45+, Charizard level 65+, and
Pigiot level 53+. If you use your moves correctly, you will win easily.
Catch Zapdos or level up a
Raichu or another Electric Pokemon to leve; 53 or higher. Get an Articuno or
a high level Ice Pokemon. Teach it Fly. Make sure every Pokemon you have is
at least level 49.after you finish Victory Road. Buy Max Potions, Full
Restores, etc., then go through the door. When facing Lorelei, use your
Electric type and use your strongest Electric type attacks (Thunder
recommended). When facing Bruno, use your Flying type attacks on the
Fighting type and Ice, Water, and Grass type on the Rock type. Try to do it
in two or less turns on each of his Pokemon. They will probably use a strong
attack on you. Also, try to use a weak attack first and a final blow last
because they use Full Restores if you get them down to red and try to kill
them. When facing Agatha, her first Gengar will try to poison you with
Toxic. Try to kill her as fast as possible. For the others, try to use
Hypnosis. Use Dark moves on her Psychic and Ghost types. This battle will be
difficult. When facing Lance, use your good Electric types on his Gyarados
and Dragonairs and the other Dragon/Water type. For Dragonite, use your Ice
to hammer it down. His Pokemon mostly use Dragon Rage, Outrage and Hyper
Beam. When they use Hyper Beam, they will rest for a turn. For your rival
battle, keep healing and rotate Pokemon until you defeat him. Having a
Grass, Water, Fire, and Electric type are recommended.
Hint:
Defeating rival: Use the following tricks to defeat your rival with relative ease
the second time in the Elite Four. Note: This was done with Bulbasaur as a
starter; therefore the lineup will change depending on which starter
selected. For the Heracross (level72), use either a very strong Fire-type or
a Wing Attack or even Fly from any Flying-type above level 55. Otherwise,
speed will be an issue. For the Tyranitar (level 72), use a Ground-type like
a Rhydon or Dugtrio with Earthquake. Note that Rhydon or Dugtrio will need
to have a very high defense or speed to either land the first blow or live
to land their attack after they have been hit. Consider having them at
somewhere between level 65 and 72. For the Alakazam (level 73), use an
attack like Bite, Crunch, Megahorn, Shadow Ball or Shadow Punch. For the
Gyarados (level 73), if your team is lacking a strong Electric-type,
consider using a Rock-type with attacks such as Ancientpower or Rock Blast.
For the starter (level 75; if you have Venusaur), rely heavily on Rock,
Water and even Ice-types to get the job done against the Charizard. If you
have Blastoise, go with powerful Ground, Psychic, Fire, Ice, and Flying to
take care of what is really a simple task. If you have Charizard, go with
Electricity, Grass (risky because of the Ice type move that the Blastoise
will have) or even Steel-types. The Exeggutor (level 73), is the easiest to
deal with. It is low in speed. Using strong Fire, Ice, Dark, Ghost or Bug
moves should take care of it in one hit.
Hint:
Defeating Sabrina: Buy a Poke Doll from the department store in Celadon City. Then,
go to the top left house in Saffron City and go upstairs. Talk to the girl
and she will teach one of your Pokemon Mimic. Go to the gym and begin your
battle against Sabrina. Once she uses a Psychic move with one of her
Pokemon, Mimic it and you will have it for the rest of the battle.
Hint:
Easy Trainer Tower win: To complete the Trainer Tower easily, every time you defeat
someone, go down to the bottom floor and heal.
Hint:
Random dots in Mount Ember: Once you have defeated the two Rocket Grunts near the base of
Mount Ember, the will leave and you will be able to enter the cave. The way
through is straightforward, with a few stone puzzles. You will reach a
fairly large chamber with many large flat stones with strange dots on them.
The dots on the large stones are letters, and the ones on the small stones
are punctuation marks. The letters can be read from left to right like a
book. Make sure you do not include the small stones in your alphabet or it
will be incorrect. The information that can be gotten from these letters is
basically pointless, and it takes awhile to write out a key.
Hint:
Get to One Island: To Get to One Island, defeat the Cinnabar Island Gym Leader,
Blaine. When you come out, Bill will take you to One Island and give you the
Tri-Pass. This will allow you to return at any time by taking the Pass to
the boat dock in Vermilion City.
After completing the gym in
Cinnabar Island, go outside. Bill will come over and take you on a boat to
One Island. On this island you will meet Celio, who is Bill's friend in the
Pokemon Network Center. Celio will give you a pass so that you can use the
Seagallop ferry around the One, Two, Three Island and Vermilion City.
Hint:
Get to Saffron City: Unlike in Pokemon Red and Blue, to get into Saffron
City, you do not give the guard a Fresh Water. You must go to Celadon City
then enter the Game Freak building. Inside is an old woman with Pokemon
around her It is the building above the Game Corner. Once there, talk to the
old lady. She gives you some "tea", which you can then give to the
guard. All the guards will now let you go into Saffron City. Remember to get
the powerful TM 29 Psychic in Mr. Psychic's house (in the bottom far left
house of the city). Also, your Pokemon should at least level 38 or higher
when attempting to battle Sabrina.
Hint:
Get to Saffron City earlier: This trick requires two Game Boy Advances, a link cable, a Pokemon
Ruby or Sapphire game with a "Fresh Water" in the pack,
and a Pokemon Fire Red or Leaf Green game that is completed
and able to trade with Pokemon Ruby or Sapphire. Also, you
will need another Pokemon Fire Red or Leaf Green cartridge.
Give a Pokemon a Fresh Water. Trade the Pokemon from Pokemon Ruby or Sapphire
to the completed Pokemon Fire Red or Leaf Green game. Take the
Fresh Water and attach it to a Pokemon not from Pokemon Ruby or Sapphire.
Trade it to the other Pokemon Fire Red or Leaf Green game.
Give the Fresh Water to the guard. You can now access Saffron City easier.
You can also do the same thing without the Pokemon Ruby or Sapphire
cartrigde. Also, it works better when you have the completed cartridge and
your friend has the unfinished game.
Hint:
Easy Saffron gym path: Instead of trying to figure out which path to take, or if you do
not want to battle any of the trainers, just go to the opposite teleporter
up or down. If you touch one and are at the bottom left, go to the top left.
If you touch one and are on the top right, go to the bottom right. This may
take some time, but it will work.
Hint:
Cerulean cave: First, defeat Team Rocket at Kanto, then win the Pokemon League
two times. Then defeat Team Rocket Island 5. Note: You will need Surf and
Rock Smash.
Hint:
Get to Sabrina without battling any trainers: This is a long process, but it is the easiest way. Go into the
first square, then go up, down, down, up, down, up, up, down, down, up, up,
up, down, then down and you will be there.
Hint:
Unlimited Safari Zone time: Enter the Safari Zone, then walk into an area and stop in the
grass Then, tap the D-pad, but do not move You will find the Pokemon
in that area without wasting steps.
Find one location in the Safari
Zone that suits you. Then, just rotate in place. Random Pokemon should you
attack you every few rotations.
Go into a patch of grass in the
Safari Zone with a Pokemon (like Oddish) that has Sweet Scent. When you use
Sweet Scent, you will get attacked by wild Pokemon without having to move.
Keep doing this until you find a Pokemon that you want.
Hint:
Catching Safari Zone Pokemon: When you encounter a Safari Zone Pokemon, throw a rock at it. If
it does not flee, use a safari ball. You should be able to catch it about
85% of the time.
Hint:
Safari Zone: Pokemon and items: The Safari Zone is located to the north of Fuchsia City. The
following are items you can find:
Leaf Stone
TM 11 (Sunny Day)
Max Potion
Full Restorex2
Quick Claw
Max Potion
TM 47 (Steel Wing)
Protein
Gold Teeth (must collect)
TM 32 (Double Team)
HM 03 (Surf, must collect)
The following are rare wild
Pokemon you can encounter:
The following are the rare wild
Pokemon you can catch using a Super Rod:
Seaking
Dratini
Dragonair
Hint:
Vermilion City: Items: When you arrive in Vermilion City, use the Item Finder while by
the Pokemon Center. There is an item in the very corner of the beach
directly below the Poke Center.
Hint:
Recommended Pokemon League moves:
If you started with
Charmander, the best moves for Charzard are Blast Burn, Flamethrower,
Hyper Beam, And Fly.
If you started with
Bulbasuar, the best moves are Sleep Powder, Stun Spore, Solar Beam, and
Giga Drain.
If you started with Squirtle,
the best moves are Hydro Cannon, Surf, Hyper Beam, and Blizzard.
Hint:
Easy money: To get easy money, use a Meowth with the Pay Day attack in wild
or trainer battles.
To do this, you must defeat the
Elite Four, have the Amulet Coin, the Vrs Seeker, and the Rainbow Pass.
First, go to Island 5. Go up along the coast. Surf north until you meet a
trainer on a tiny island. Ignore him or her. Then, go east a short distance
and you will find a bigger island with a house. There is a Lady named Jacki
near the island you saw a moment ago. She has a level 48 Hopip and a level
50 Skiploom. They are Grass/Flying type. Give the Amulet Coin to a Pokemon
that is good against them. Put it up front. Battle her and you will get
20,000 in money. Use the Vrs Seeker to battle her again with the same
Pokemon and get 20,000 in money again. Run around the island until your Vrs
Seeker is recharged. Battle her as much as desired.
To get quick money, get a
Zigzagoon. Battle with it. After every battle, look to see if it has a
Nugget. When you get one, sell it for lots of money. Note: It will also get
lots of other items.
Use the following trick to get
P 10,000 or P 20,000 easily. Go to Five Island. Make sure you have Amulet
Coin on your first Pokemon. Swim north of Five Island to Resort Gorgeous to
the island with Selphy's house. The lady on far left of the house is Lady
Jacki. She has a Level 48 Hoppip and a level 50 Skiploom. If you defeat her
you will earn P 10,000 (P 20,000 AC). If you have the VS Seeker, you can
keep battling her for more money. If you need the Amulet Coin, go to the
building west of Celadon (the one that leads to Route 17) and go upstairs.
One of Professor Oak's aides will ask you if you have caught 40 Pokemon. If
you have, you will get the Amulet Coin. The VS Seeker is with the lady near
Nurse Joy inside the Vermilion Pokecenter.
Hint:
Easy experience: Have a Pokemon level 35 or higher (lower is acceptable). Using
the Vs Seeker go to Lavender Town. Go to the left and challenge the four
people in a line and the two twins. Make sure both the twins and four people
are onscreen. After that, go to the docks under Lavender Town. Go to an area
where the young couple is found and go near them. Make sure you can see a
fisherman on the top of your screen. Use the Vs Seeker and challenge either.
Then, repeat the process.
Hint:
Determining Pokemon's feelings towards you: When you use an item on one of your Pokemon outside of a battle,
such as a Potion, the Pokemon will either move closer or away from you in
the short intermission sequence. How far the Pokemon moves depends on how
much it likes you. If it does not move at all, it feels neutral.
Hint:
Answers to Blaine's questions: The answers, in order are: yes, no, no, no, yes, and no.
Hint:
Trainer name comment: At the Pokemon Trainer Fan Club in Saffron City, the blonde man
in the back will mention the last person you battled in real life. For
example, if you battle a friend who named their character "Dusty",
he will say, "Dusty's cool, huh? I love the way he talks. I'd really
relish a chance to meet him in person once."
Hint:
No music: This trick requires the Pokemon Flute. When you are in the middle
of using the Pokemon Flute during a battle, press L or R, then
go back to the battle screen. There will be no music for a few seconds. This
also works if you are healing your Pokemon.
Hint:
Steps needed to hatch a egg: You must take 1,500 steps. Go to a place with a lot of room.
Use the following trick to
easily pass the time needed to hatch an egg. Make sure you have the Acro
Bike. Go to the Mauville Desert or other area and try to run up the slope.
Weigh or tape down Up. You character will still be trying to go up
the hill, and it counts as steps.
Hint:
Secret Trainer Card stickers: Go to the lowest house on Island Two and talk to the man inside.
Complete the following tasks to get the corresponding sticker.
Egg Hatching Sticker #1:
Hatch one egg
Egg Hatching Sticker #2: Hatch one hundred eggs
Egg Hatching Sticker #3: Hatch two hundred eggs
Egg Hatching Sticker #4: Hatch three hundred eggs

Hint:
More than one attempt when catching a Legendary Pokemon: When you are close to a Legendary Pokemon and want to catch it,
save the game just before you battle it. If you accidentally make it faint,
Just reset the game and try again.
Hint:
Recommended team: Try the following team to defeat the Elite Four: Charizard level
54, Articuno level 51, Zaptos level 52, Moltres level 50, and the evolved
form of Pikachu. Your rival is at the end. Note: If you want Great and Ultra
Balls, go to Cinnabar Island.
The following is a strong team
with little weaknesses and is a good, uncommon mix that can be started early
on.
Raichu (level 50 to 55):
Shockwave, Thunder, Thunderbolt, Mega Kick
Kabutops (level 50 to 55): Surf, Blizzard, Slash, Hyperbeam
Venusaur (level 50 to 55): Frenzy Plant, Solarbeam, Razor Leaf, Bullet
Seed

Dugtrio (level 50 to 55): Fissure, Earthquake, Dig, Slash

It will be easier to win the
Pokemon League with these Pokemon:
Charizard (level 60 or
higher)
Gengar (level 55)
Moltres (level 55)
Raichu (level 60 or higher)
Lapras (level 60)
Rydon (level 55 or higher)
Try the following team:

Articuno level 60 to 70: Blizzard, Ice Beam, Fly, Mind Reader
Note: This team should only be used by trainers with a lot of money. You
also might need to be someone who prefers ice attacks.
Hint:
Trade to Pokemon Colosseum: To trade your Pokemon to Pokemon Colosseum through a link
cable, you must first complete the game and defeat the Elite 4. You can now
trade Pokemon like Mewtwo, Lugia and Ho-oh (if you have the Mystery Pass),
Deoxys (if you have the Rainbow Pass), etc.
Glitch:
Daycare man stays inside fence, even with an egg: Go to the fourth of the Sevii Islands. Drop off two compatible
Pokemon at the Daycare. This is easier if these Pokemon have had a
successful egg "birth" in the past. Make sure the Daycare man says
they like each other or something similar. Then, go into the Icefall Cave.
Wait in there for awhile, then go back to the Daycare. Talk to the man and
he will have an egg, even though he is standing inside his fence. This may
require a few attempts.
