Hint:
Cheats in championship mode: When you unlock any of the cheats, they normally cannot be used
to win championship mode. However, there is a way around this. Simply use
the cheat to come in first until the last race. Then, go to the main menu
and disable the cheat. You will have all the medals, and all you have to do
is win the last race.
Hint:
Quick start: Wait until the timer is about to reach "Go", then
quickly press B, then hold A. This may require several times
to master the timing.
Immediately before the
countdown ends at beginning of a race, quickly press the brake, then the
gas. You should take off with a sudden burst off energy as soon as the race
begins, and be ahead of everybody else.
Hold Brake, then press Gas
to cause your tires to peel out. When "One" appears at the top of
the screen, release Gas and immediately press it again when
"Go!" appears. If done correctly, you will get a boost that will
almost always put you in front of the other vehicles.
At the beginning of any race,
pursuit or crash session, before it race starts, at the countdown, hold Gas,
then hold Brake briefly for about half second. Half a second before
the counter reaches zero, release Gas and quickly press it again. You
will start with a boost.
Hint:
Better start: If you are not at the pole position, try to drive into the rear
end of an opponent. He will lose control for a moment and you can pass.
Never follow the opponents in
front of you. Almost always, there is a faster route even if it is takes
sharper bends.
Spin your tires until the
countdown is halfway through "1" and release the gas. Immediately
after you release the gas, press A again. This gives you a boost
start.
Hint:
Powerful boosts in Crash Zones: This trick works in one player and two player modes. When you are
doing the Crash Zones, at the start immediately hold R for a boost.
After a few seconds, press it again. This should give you more boost, which
results in a faster speed and better crashes. Repeat this as many times as
desired.
When you are doing Crash Zone 7
"Whip Up A Storm Of Metal And Glass", go to the right onto the
dirt. You can have a wider angle to turn left at the intersection, and
therefore have more speed for a greater crash.
Hint:
Getting quicker boosts: Drive on the wrong side of the road to receive a boost faster. If
your opponent is in the wrong lane, follow him, but not to closely. This
allows him to pass the traffic for you. Also, if he hits someone you can get
out of he way if you are not too close. This is unlikely however, as the CPU
follows the cars through a safer route. As long as you do not disturb him he
will not hit anything. This will give you a faster and safer boost.
When you get a full boost
meter, you can gain and use boost a lot faster by tapping A (Boost)
button instead of holding it down and draining your boost all the way.
Spin your tires until the
countdown is halfway through "1" and release the gas. Immediately
after you release the gas, press A again. This gives you a boost
start.
In championship mode and face
offs, choose the police car. Press A, B, A and smoke
should be coming out of your tires. When "Go" is about to appear,
press B to get a boost.
Hint:
Better slides: When doing the tire burn, once you go around the turn and have a
boost, press R. You will speed up and take the turn very fast. Also,
if you get a perfect lap you will automatically get a boost.
Hint:
Better crashing speed: To gain more and better crashing speed, after the announcer says
"Go!", back up (while looking back) until you hit the red wall.
You can then gain more space to crash hard, and good.
Hint:
Easy points: If you are on a course that has a lot of bumps, do not drive the
trucks, 1970's car, stock car, hotrod, or gangster. The best car for this
are the Japanese muscle or the student driver car.
When starting Stage 6, when it
says "Lots of mayhem on the freeway", hold R + A and
blast off. Go into the lane coming to you and look for blue van-type of car.
Smash into it head first or at an angle to the left to crash. At first, only
taxis will crash (about three or four) but a moment after that, an
18-wheeler semi carrying wood, another one, and a bus will follow, hitting
you and followed by more. Then, other smaller cars will hit you. It is
possible to get at least $40,200,000.
Hint:
Easy turbo: Drive on the wrong side of the road until your turbo (NOS) tank
or bar is full.
Hint:
Easy gold medals: When you are trying to get all the gold medals in any
championship that has two or more races, if you get a medal besides gold
turn off the Gamecube and turn it back on. Load your profile and go back to
the championship you were just playing. Select it, and you will be racing
the map you just failed for another chance at a gold medal.
After you have unlocked the
"Invulnerability" or "Infinite boost" cheats, enable one
of them and start a custom series championship. Win all of the races until
you get to the last race of the championship. Then, go to main menu. Turn
off the cheat and save your profile. Go back to the championship and win the
last race. If you do not win, reset the Gamecube, load the game and try
again. The CPU should credit you with all golds if you won every race, even
though you had the cheats active.
Hint:
Easy pursuit wins: Try to get as close to the vehicle as you can when you have
turbo. Then, use it and get in front of the car. Stay in front of it. It
will try to get past you. When this happens, keep hitting it as it tries to
pass.
In the pursuit modes, you can
win the race immediately if you force the other car into a head-on collision
with traffic -- this will stop them quite nicely.
Hint:
Easy money in crash mode: When you are about to hit the car you think will make the biggest
crash, use the turbo and drive towards that car. Hit your brakes and do a
power slide into the car. This should put you into the air. Note: This will
not work on trucks.
For easy money in Crash Course
6, select a car that catches air easily (such as the SUV). Start with a
boost and burn out of the tunnel. Go all the way to the left and hit that
car.
Hint:
Easy gold medals in crash mode: Learn which car to crash into first, then restart, do a boost
start, then burn into it.
Hint:
Never lose: If you lose a championship race with all gold medals and you do
not want to have to start all over and get them again, use this trick. At
the end of the losing race, quickly remove your memory card. The "No
Card Detected" message will appear and auto-save will be disabled.
Return to main menu and re-insert your memory card. Load your game and play
from where you last saved.
Glitch:
Stuck horn: Press L to honk the horn immediately before crashing. When
you crash, the horn will still sound, as if your driver had passed out on
the steering wheel.
Glitch:
Fall off level: In Palm Bay Marina, there is a wall that you can run into, sink,
and fall off the level. To do this turn, enable the
"Invulnerability" cheat. Note: This will count as a crash but is
quite interesting to do. There is a wall blocking the highway. Its just
before a bridge. A bus normally cuts it off before you get into the wall --
you must go around the bus. Just hit the wall exactly where it connects to
another wall. This will enable you to drop off onto the highway, then
somehow sink and spin in the sky for a few seconds. Afterwards, you will
return onto the track. If done by player two, the first player will
sometimes lose their checkpoints. Also, only the second player can receive
them. You can reverse this by falling off the edge during the second or
third lap around. Also when playing in pursuit mode, the person being chased
loses all but one health point.
