There are 2 modes in this
game Adventure Mode and Puzzle Mode. You will start with Adventure mode.
When you first start the
game it will ask you if you want to play the game in Normal or Relax
mode.
In Normal Mode you'll be
playing against the clock with a limited amount of time.
If you choose to play under
Relax Mode, you will have 10 times the amount of time that you would
have had in Normal Mode. That's what the game says but we found it was
more like 3 times the amount of time depending on the type of puzzle
you're playing.
In Relax mode you will have
an average of 100 minutes per level. In Normal mode you will have an
average of 30 minutes
In Adventure Mode you will
encounter a variety of mini games. You will have some of your regular
mini games like, find the differences between 2 pictures, slider
puzzles, jigsaw puzzles etc. You'll also have a puzzle in which you have
to identify the objects by their sounds.
If you get stuck there are
some hints that you can use in this game, each type of hint is explained
in the hint section of the guide.
PUZZLE MODE
The locations in Puzzle
Mode will be unlocked as you play certain levels in Adventure Mode.
In Puzzle Mode you will
play each location that you encountered in Adventure Mode.
You will look for 30 items
in each of the rooms and you will have 30 minutes to locate all the
items, which is more than enough time.
You will have the same type
of hints in Puzzle mode as you did in Adventure. You will get a new set
of hints with each level, so you might as well use them up if you need
them.
There are no mini games in
this mode.
HINTS
There are different types
of hints that you will encounter in the game. The game is pretty
generous when it comes to giving out hints; running out of them is
pretty hard to do.
Most scenes can have
anywhere between 2 - 5 different types of hints for every location that
you visit.
You cannot pick and choose
which items will be highlighted when you use a hint, it's up to the game
to decide which item it will show you.
Hints can sometimes be
stacked on top of each other. Make sure that when you pick up a hint
that you look and see if there was another one underneath.
TYPES OF HINTS/BONUSES
Magnifying Glass - This
hint will be the kind that you will get the most of in the game. You
will be able to find one item each time you use it.
Binoculars - Speed Search
- This type of hint will not appear until much later in the game. This
is a great hint because several items will be highlighted at once for
a short period of time. The number of items you see on the screen at
one time will have to do with the amount of clues you have left. Once
we had 7 items on the list and 5 of those were highlighted. Save this
hint for when you're low on your other hints. Do not waste this hint
if you only have 2 or less items to find.
Bonus Points - This is the
bonus represented by a stack of coins. When you click on this bonus, the
amount of money you earn for a correct click will double. You will only
earn the bonus for a short period of time.
Hourglass - Stop Bonus -
You can use this bonus when you are playing in Regular Mode. When you
activate this hint you will be able to stop the timer temporarily, which
will give extra time to find the item.
Clock - Time Bonus - Extra
time will be added to you clock so you can have more time to look for
items.
Speed Bonus - You can earn
a Speed Bonus when you find items back to back within a short amount of
time of each other.
SCORING
At the end of each level
you will get a summary of how you did in that level.
You get 100 points for
every correct click that you make.
If you find several items
consecutively within a short amount of time then you will get 200 points
per item instead of 100.
Use your Bonus Points hint
while you search for several items quickly and you'll receive 400
points. That effect only lasts for a short amount of time so get in as
many items as you can.
For each bonus that you do
not use, you will get an average of 500 points for each one at the end
of the level.
You can also collect points
for the amount of time you have left on the clock at the end of each
level.
If you click on too many
incorrect items, you will be penalized 30 seconds off your clock.
MINI GAMES
There are a variety of mini
games throughout this game. Each mini game will be explained in the
level in which it was presented.
You can skip any mini game
at any time if you don't want to play it all the way through. Just click
on the green arrow that is on the lower left side of the page to skip
it.
All mini games will be
discussed in the section below and they will also have screenshots in
order for you to actually see the solution.
SILHOUETTES
You will have to look for
items in these sections by what the game calls a silhouette, but it's
more like a colorless view of the item.
The items in the
silhouettes can be easy to find at times. Just keep in mind that the
items in the scene may not be facing the same way as they do in the
clue.
The silhouette solutions
are not shown in this guide.
FIND THE DIFFERENCES
This is a typical find the
differences puzzle in which you look for the difference between 2 side
by side pictures.
In most find the
differences puzzle you have a double cursor which will point to both
sides. In this game you will only have a single cursor.
Once you click on a
difference a bubble will appear covering the difference.
Look for items that are not
in the next picture or have a variation in color of some sort.
All the solutions for the
find the differences puzzle are shown below in the guide.
IDENTIFY SOUNDS
In this puzzle instead of
having a description in which to find your items, you'll have to do it
with a short sound clip.
Click on the musical notes
on the left side of the screen and you'll hear a short sound bite.
Identify the sound and look
for the item in the scene.
Some sounds are pretty
straightforward, like the sound of a violin or a record playing.
Others can be a little
harder to distinguish, like the sound of footsteps, which we thought we
had to look for some shoe prints but it turned out to be the actual
boots themselves that we had to look for.
You can play the sounds as
many times as you like until it becomes clear what the item is.
The solution for all the
Sound puzzles are listed in the guide below.
QUICK SEARCH
In these puzzles you will
be asked to find a certain amount of items in a short period of time.
You have 30 seconds in
which to find an object. If you don't find it within that time, a new
clue will be shown and the other clue will go to the bottom of the list
and will reappear at the end.
Some Quick Search solutions
are shown in the guide below.
STORY ITEMS
In some levels you will be
given a short sentence and it's up to you to figure out which items are
needed within those words.
You can look on top of the
list and it will tell you how many items you need to look for within
those sentences, this can be a big help in case you missed an item.
The solution for all these
types of levels are shown in the guide below.
INTERACTIVE PUZZLES
Some puzzles will only be
solved when you use one item in conjunction with another.
Items that need to be used
with another will have the cursor turn into a tiny blue hand.
When you find such items,
you need to drag it onto another item in the scene.
For example in one of the
clues it says: "Bait in water" You will have to find the bait
and drag it into the ocean.
Once you drag your item to
the correct place, the item will be crossed off your list.
GENERAL TIPS
Look for items and hints
that are almost off the page. Some items can be hard to see and other
items are partially shown. Keep this in mind when looking for things.
It can be hard to click on
items at times in this game, you may have to do it several times before
the click registers.
If you have a hard time
clicking on something that is almost off the page then you may want to
minimize your screen in order to get it.
We have a list of items
below called Lost in Translation, which highlights a lot of items that
are mislabeled. All items are not on the list. However keep in mind that
many times you will be asked for a single item when they really mean the
plural version of that items instead. They will say something like
banana when you really have to look for bananas.
LOST IN TRANSLATION
