In-game
reset (Final Fantasy 5): Press L1 + L2 + R1 + R2 + Start
+ Select during game play.
Hint:
Finding Shiva (Final Fantasy 5): Go to Waltz Castle and walk into the water on the roof. Find
the large waterfall, walk into the middle of it, and continue to walk up
the stairs until you see a glowing ball. Walk up and talk to the ball.
Fight and defeat Shiva to get her as a summon.
Hint:
Finding Ramuh (Final Fantasy 5): Get the airship and fly to Easterly Falls, up in the northwest
corner of the map. Walk around in the forest until you encounter Ramuh.
Fight and defeat Ramuh to get him as a summon.
Hint:
Skip Gilgamesh battle (Final Fantasy 5): At the end of World 2 when you are infiltrating X-Death's
castle, immediately before you reach X-Death's room you will encounter a
chest with nothing in it. When you leave this room, Gilgamesh will attack
you. However, if you do not open the chest in this room, you will not have
to fight Gilgamesh.
Hint:
Defeating Gilgame (Final Fantasy 5): First, make sure you have one chararcter that has learned White
Magic Lv5, another that knows Black Magic Lv5, a third one with Time
Magic/Jikuu Lv5, and the last one with Summon/Call Lv3. You will need to
use Cure3 and Golem most of the time to protect yourselves. Start the
battle with Haste2 and Float and hit Gilgame with Ice3. Make sure to have
all of these spells up and running. Then, make everyone in your party
change to Monk to get a good amount of HP, then put everyone in the back
row. Gilgame is tough and evades easily; there is almost no need to hit
him with a weapon. Before you get to his lair (behind a door in the cave
linking the Big Bridge to the plains of Val), cast Float on everyone.
Then, start picking up Gil until Gilgame gets you. Starty by casting
Haste2 and Golem. Every time you hit Gilgame with Ice3, this big turtle
will counter twice with his Carapace attack, causing Blind and Poison.
However, Golem will take the damage for you. Normally, Golem will take
five hits from Gilgame before you have to resummon him. Keep casting Ice3
and defending yourselves with Cure3 and Antidote. You may also cast Blink
to avoid your opponent's attacks and make Golem last slightly longer. Once
Gilgame dies, he will destroy you with a Quake, which will be fatal to all
of you if you are not floating. Winning the battle will award you 3 ABP
and 5000 Gil. If you continue picking up Gil in the cave after that,
Gilgame might appear again.
Hint:
Defeating Bahamut (Final Fantasy 5): Either get four Wall Rings or have a Summoner that can cast
Carbuncle. Make Black or Time Mages and one Summoner (if you do not have
four Wall Rings equipped. Have the Mages cast their strongest spells
(Flare for Black Mages and Meteo for Time Mages) while the fourth person
heals the party. You can get the Wall Rings from enemies in the Phoenix
Tower. Bahamut's spells will bounce back to him (putting the fight into
you favor) when you have Wall on the party. The instant kill spell he does
at the end will also be reflected back to Bahamut.
Hint:
Defeating enemies (Final Fantasy 5): The following is an easy way to defeat most enemies. If you
have a Sorcerer and any of the level 5 Black Magic spells (Fire 3, Ice 3,
etc.) you can instantly kill enemies that are weak against that element.
This also works on some Bosses.
Have one character master the
character that holds two weapons and the Hunter. Make him the bare class
and give him two swords and the Sshot ability. Equip two weapons then use
the Sshot ability in battle for an eight hit combination.
Hint:
Extra ABP (Final Fantasy 5): In Phoenix Tower, after every few stairs you will reach a room
with two pots, one on each side of the room. One of the pots contain
money, but the other contains a monster. The enemy is called "Magic
Pot" and will not attack you. He will say "Gimme Elixer".
Use an Elixer on him and he will reward with 100 ABP and an item. This is
possibly the easiest way to master items like Mimes, Samurais, Chemists,
and Ninjas.
In The Void (the last area of
the game), all of the monsters give 20+ ABP after a battle. To easily win
Behemoth battles, first cast Berserk on it. Next, cast Golem on your
allies. You can now use physical or magic attacks to defeat them. If Golem
wears out, simply recast it. Also in The Void is a monster called a
"Mover". They are very rare, but if you are lucky enough to
encounter them (they appear in sets of three), kill them all quickly with
attacks such as Bahamut or Leviathan. If you let them live too long, they
start to move around and eventually turn one of your party members into
stone. When this happens, the battle automatically ends and you get
nothing. The reward for defeating the Movers is 199 ABP and 100,000 gil.
Hint:
Easy experience (Final Fantasy 5): In the first world, once you get the airship go to the chain of
islands at the bottom of the map. The ones above crescent island have an
enemy called Black Flame which has the Blue spell Black Shock, and gives
high experience, gold and ABP when defeated. Also, some of the islands
have a monster called Prototype which you cannot hurt to defeat. Use the
Control command and have it cast Exploder on itself You can also learn the
Blue spells Missile and Burn Ray from it. It also gives 500 experience and
4 ABP when defeated.
The Quar Harpy gives 250
experience to everyone if four are alive, 333 experience if three are
alive, 500 experience to two or 1000 experience to one person. This can
help early on in the game, if you are strong enough.
In the second world, after
X-Death turns on his barrier, you will get sent to another part of the
world map. There are two places that actually show up on the map when you
use it -- a town and a castle. Villagers in the town warn you about the
castle, and they also mention that the legendary weapons are all sealed
there. If you investigate, you will find absolutely nothing to do, and a
very difficult (in fact, impossible at your level) monster called a
ShieldDragon. The dragon is technically invincible to you. He has Reflect,
and you do not. He can kill you in a few blows, and you (most likely)
cannot seriously hurt him. However, if you have someone become a trainer
long enough to learn Control, then you have a chance. Simply have everyone
defend or heal while one of the party tries to Control until they are
successful. Once you are controlling him, you can attack him with Blaze
for 4999 damage. Being a magical attack in nature, Blaze will not break
the Control. Repeat this until he is defeated. By defeating it, you will
get 1000 gil, 2500 experience per character (10,000 experience total), and
5 ABP. To add insult to injury, you can steal a Mythril Shield from him
every time (and occasionally a Gold Shield), and sometimes you will win a
Gold Shield from the fight.
Hint:
Easy gil (Final Fantasy 5): Go to the Valley Of Dragons in Galuf's World (World 2). Go in a
cave and find a Zombie Dragon. Kill it. This may be difficult, considering
it has about 8,000 HP. After the battle, it should give you about 1000 to
1500 gil, 500 to 1000 experience, and 2 to 7 ABP. A subscreen will appear.
Take the Dragon Fang or Dragon Tooth, and kill some more Zombie Dragons.
Each Dragon Fang or Dragon Tooth is worth 2500 gil. Also in the Valley Of
The Dragons is a Bone Mail that resembles a ribcage. It has good defense,
and can be used by Samurai, Knights, Sorcerers, Lancers, and most other
fighting classes.
Hint:
No battles in Phoenix Tower (Final Fantasy 5): Use the following door order: left, left, right, left, left,
right, left, left, right, left, left, right, right, left, right, left,
left, right, and up.
Hint:
Get Cain/Kain (Final Fantasy 5): At the beginning of the game give the name -Cain- or -Kain- to
the main character. Then, as soon as possible, turn him into a Dragon
Knight and master him. You can also teach him the Summon command.
Hint:
Hydra Summon (Final Fantasy 5): In World 3, use the airship to return to the pirate's base in
the middle of the mountains. As you enter, Faris will appear and run to
the right side of the base. He sees an illusion of Hydra. You will then
get to summon Hydra, who uses the very useful attack, Thunder.
Hint
Golem Summon (Final Fantasy 5): In the Valley of Dragons, get into a few random battles until
the monsters you fight are a Skelesaurus, Dragon Zombie and Golem. The
other monsters will turn on Golem and ask for help. If you kill the two
monsters before they kill Golem, Golem will praise you and join your party
as a summon. You have to use the Golem item in order for him to join (just
like Ramuh).
Hint:
Shoat Summon (Final Fantasy 5): In World 2 with the submarine you will find a tunnel underwater
at the bottom part of the northwestern-most continent. Go through the
tunnel and get into a fight. Shoat is difficult to defeat. His only attack
does not miss and turns your characters into stone. The tunnel (outside in
the water) is a yellow circle in the rock wall. The tunnel is also a good
place to level up.
Hint:
Mirage Town (Final Fantasy 5): Get the airship and fly to Cresent Island. Head to the middle
of the joined continent, and land next to a forest there. Walk around in
the forest until it seems you have gotten into a battle. The screen will
be fuzzy instead of the normal swirl for starting a battle. This town has
extremely good weapons, 6 level six magic spells, and great armor. There
are two shops in every store, so search around the town.
Hint:
Black Chocobo in World 3 (Final Fantasy 5): Fly to Mirage Town and stand near the pub. If you go around
through a back door, you will appear behind the counter of the pub. Check
the barrels below you to get a useful weapon, the Thief's Knife. Head left
to find some stairs, and continue through the area. Put on the
"Secret" ability or make one of your characters a thief. Head
through a secret passage to find a door, and past that, a piano. Play the
Piano and head through the door to find the Black Chocobo.
Hint:
Bone Mail (Final Fantasy 5): The Bone Mail is in the Dragon Valley in Galuf's world. In the
first area where you start to see bones, you will pass the ribs. The Bone
Mail is in a small pile of bones just before you turn the corner on the
cliff's edge. This armor is for Knights, Samurais, Sorcerers, etc. This
armor will serve well until the end of the game.
Hint:
Dancing Dirk (Final Fantasy 5): In world 2 at the Moogle village, inside one of the houses is
the Dancing Dirk. It is the strongest one handed weapon at this point.
When attacking it has one of the following bonuses:
Sword Dance: 4x normal
damage.
Jitterbug, Wonderwaltz: Absorbs enemy's life.
Normal hit: Normal hit.
Tempetango: Makes one enemy attack other monsters
Hint:
Chicken Knife or Brave Sword (Final Fantasy 5): Go to the town of Moore in World 3. Head southwest to find a
barn-like location. Enter it to find yourself in the forest below. Wander
around until you find a wizard who will tell to pick from two crates. Pick
the right one for the Chicken Knife, or the left one for the Brave Sword.
The Chicken Knife can be easily powered-up, up so it is even more powerful
than the Excalibur. The Brave Sword powers up when you win battles, the
Chicken Knife powers up when you run.
Hint:
Double Lance (Final Fantasy 5): Once you get to Val castle in the second world, you will notice
there is a basement in one of the lower levels that has a locked door.
Down in this small basement room, you encounter monsters called Rock
Statues. You can steal the Double Lance from these enemies, but it may
take awhile. You will mostly get potions, but have patience. The Double
Lance allows the user to attack twice. Try stealing two and equip them to
a Ninja for a 4x attack. The rock statues are very difficult to defeat,
but a Soft will kill them instantly.
Hint:
Healing Staff (Final Fantasy 5): Once you have the dragon, fly to Tycoon Castle and talk to the
Chancellor. Then, go to the treasure room on the east side of the castle
and talk to the Chancellor again to enter. Once there, you can find the
very useful Healing Staff, which restores HP rather than taking it away.
It is magic though -- do not use it on someone with Reflect.
Hint:
Magic Lamp (Final Fantasy 5): You can get an item called the Magic Lamp. Use it in a battle
6to summon Bahamut. It can be recharged in the water at the dwarf village
under the sea. Jump on the Yellow Chocobo and walk to the top of the
waterfall at the northwestern part of World three. In the center of it,
you will enter the waterfall. Check at the edge to find it.
Hint:
Mirage Vest (Final Fantasy 5): When you go to Mirage Town (World 3), talk to the man who bets
you cannot go around the world on a yellow Chocobo. Exit the town and hop
on Boko. Travel around the world in a counter-clockwise direction, all the
way to Mirage Town. It usually helps if you go around the world two
consecutive times. Talk to the man, and he will give you the Mirage Vest.
The Mirage Vest has pretty high defense, and when equipped, automatically
casts Blink on the wearer in battle.
Hint:
Sealed Weapons (Final Fantasy 5): To get all of the weapons, place the Lithograph on the
sparkling platform. You will now be able to break the seal on three of the
weapons. Pick up the Lithograph, put it down again, and break three more
seals. Repeat this until all the weapons are collected.
Hint:
Magic Summoning Lamp (Final Fantasy 5): In World 3, take Boko northeast then west until you reach the
top of Easterly Falls. Walk into the waterfall and press X to get
the Magic Lamp. It will summon in this order: Bahamut, Leviathan, Odin,
Hydra, Carbuncle, Golem, Titan, Ifrit, Ramuh, Shiva, Remora, Sylph,
Chocobo. It uses no MP if you are summoning weak monsters, or none. Return
to the same location to refill it.
Hint:
Elixir (Final Fantasy 5): You can steal an Elixir from the Zuu outside the castle with
the Fire Crystal. This can give you an early advantage in the game.
Hint:
Mime crystal shard (Final Fantasy 5): Go into the water in the third world, below the Phoenix Tower.
Transform the boat into the submarine and go into the tower. Since it is
under water, you will only have seven minutes to get to the bottom and
return. Equip Dash and run to the bottom. Once there, you will see the
crystal shard. A monster will warn you, but answer "No". He will
mimic you. To win, do nothing as he says.
Hint:
Blood combo (Final Fantasy 5): Have a Hunter that is mastered (level 4). The ability learned
is called Sshot meaning Super Shot. This ability will make your attack
(Fight!) happen four times in a row; and if the first attack is critical,
the other three will also be critical. This move cannot miss. Once you
have Sshot, change your job to Bare or Mime and equip the Blood Sword
found at X-Death's Tower in World 2. Equip the Blood Sword to the Bare or
Mime character and give him/her the ability Sshot with the equipped weapon
Blood Sword (84 Batt. Pwr., +5 to Vigor, steals the amount of damage that
you deal, but with 5% Accuracy). The combo with Sshot (which never misses)
will even this out against an average enemy. This can result in 3,200
damage against enemies and 3,200 HP to your character.
Hint:
Berserker (Final Fantasy 5): First, have a character with a mastered Ninja (level 5) and a
mastered Monk (level 7). Make that character a Mime and give him the
abilities learned from these two classes: 2-Swords (Ninja level 5), HP
+30% (Monk level 7), and Counter (Monk level 4). The only thing that you
have to do is cast Berserk on this Mime during a battle. With the 2-Swords
ability, you could give him a Ragnarok (Batt. Pwr. 137) and a Strato
(Batt. Pwr. 117). The HP +30% will give him a great amount of HP and the
Counter ability will automatically attack an enemy if it attacks the Mime.
Hint:
Control opening screen (Final Fantasy 5): At the opening screen with the new game, memory card, or memo
options, you will see a character at the bottom of the screen. To see the
character take a hit, just choose an unusable option such as an empty card
slot or a card with no save. The sound of a battle hit will be heard and
the character will jump up and then fall flat on his or her face.
Hint:
Less random battles (Final Fantasy 5): To have less random battles, tap the D-pad instead of
holding it.
Hint:
Final Fantasy 7 reference (Final Fantasy 5): If you are lucky, you can see Cloud at the start up menu (with
the little characters running around).
Glitch:
Saving the game (Final Fantasy 5): When playing Final Fantasy 5 on a PlayStation2, you may
encounter graphic problems at the save screen. To fix this, press Circle
until you are back at the game screen, then try to save again. The error
is usually fixed on the second or third attempt to save.
In-game
reset (Final Fantasy 6): Press L1 + L2 + R1 + R2 + Start
+ Select during game play.
Hint:
Bonus mode (Final Fantasy 6): Defeat Kefka and complete the game. Save the game when prompted
and wait for the ending sequence to complete. Restart the game and enter
the "New Game" screen. Select "Bonus" and load the
saved data from your completed game.
Hint:
Random hidden character appearance (Final Fantasy 6): When at the starting menu (before going into a game), you can
randomly see characters, including Squall, from other games in the Final
Fantasy series.
Hint:
Defeating Atma Weapon (Final Fantasy 6): Use RASP until Atma Weapon is out of MP to wound him.
Another technique is to cast
Vanish and Doom.
To kill Atma, quickly buy
Fire Skeens before you go to the floating continent. Use all your
resources to keep Shadow alive. After throwing about five or six, you
should kill him. Each Skeen does anywhere from 4,100 to 4,600 damage.
Hint:
Defeating Wrexsoul (Final Fantasy 6): Take Gogo, a character that has the X-Zone spell, and a
character with the Vanish spell. Make sure Gogo has the Magic skill
equipped, and not Runic (it is useless in this battle). Cast Vanish on the
two creatures, and then use X-Zone. They will die and you will win the
battle. Your rewards are the Aura, Cyan, and the Alexander Esper. It is
useful in battle against creatures such as Doomgaze, which is weak against
Pearl.
Petrify one of your
teammates. Wrexsoul will count them as dead and never disappear.
Hint:
Easy Air Blade (Final Fantasy 6): Press Up(2), Left(2), Down(2), Forward.
Hint:
Defeating Katana Soul (Final Fantasy 6): In the lost castle where you get Odin or Raiden, you can fight
a monster in a chest called Katana Soul. An easy way to defeat him is to
have Relm in your party. Have her sketch Katana Soul and it will die
instantly, giving you the one and only offering.
Hint:
Defeating Kefka for the final time (Final Fantasy 6): When fighting Kefka for the final time in Kafka's tower, throw
the Atma weapon. He should either die or be weak enough to be defeated
with one more hit.
Hint:
Defeating Phantom Train (Final Fantasy 6): Use a Phoenix Down and the Phantom Train, a possibly hard Boss,
is easily destroyed.
Hint:
Defeating the Magi Tower Boss (Final Fantasy 6): After defeating the Atma Weapon the first time, cast Life 3 on
everyone, have them all holding a Wall Ring as one of their relics (helps
through the entire level), and have someone Berserk the Boss. After that
he will only use regular attacks and will not change his weakness. Once
defeated, he will use Ultima, the most powerful magic attack in the entire
game, and it will most likely kill you.
Hint:
Defeating almost every Boss (Final Fantasy 6): To kill almost every Boss in the game, cast Vanish then Doom to
kill it. The Vanish makes the Boss always get hit by magic spells.
Hint:
Defeating the undead (Final Fantasy 6): First, cast Vanish then either X-Zone or Break. Do not cast
Doom, as this will not kill the undead.
Hint:
Easy experience (Final Fantasy 6): Get an Exp. Egg and fight some Tyranos in the forests above the
veldt at the World Of Ruin. Use Vanish, Doom or Vanish, X-Zone in the
battle.
Note: The following trick
requires a controller with an auto-fire feature, a PlayStation that can be
left on for an extended amount of time, and tape. In the World of Balance,
go to the Lete River. Get on the raft outside of the Returner's hideout.
Go to the menu at the first save point. Select "Config", then
"Cmd. Set". Select "Short" and press X. Place
Banon's health spell at the top instead of fight, then save the game. On
the river, go up at the first intersection. Turn on the turbo for X
(or the entire controller). Tape X down, so it will always be
active. The characters will fight and heal automatically. Leave the game
in this condition overnight. This should result in an increase in HP and
MP. Disable the turbo, and go the other way. You will find a save point
where you can check your levels, Sabin's blitz techniques, and Terra's
magic. Save the game if needed. Also, if you want to do this again, as
soon as you check your characters disable the turbo and have them kill
each other. You will lose all the GP and items you have gained, but your
character's levels will be the same. You will be at the first save point,
allowing you to repeat the trick as needed.
Note: The following trick
requires a controller with an auto-fire feature. Get to the part of the
game where you see Baron and you have to get on a raft. Go to the save
point where you can get off the raft to switch Baron's attack command with
his heal command. Next, get to a part where you can go left (or up), and
go in an endless circle. Set auto-fire to X and keep it depressed
for a very long time. You will have your party attack and get healed by
Baron.
Go to the green area around
Doma Castle. You will find find Sprintors, Spektors And Tummble Weads
there. Always use your most powerful fire attacks for easy defeats. As
soon as your characters get powerful enough, you should put only one
person in your party and fight around that area to get a lot of
experience.
Hint:
Quick MP (Final Fantasy 6): In the World Of Balance, go to the triangular island in the
very top right corner. Keep walking around until encountering the
invisible monster called Intangir. Simply chant death on it to gain 10 MP.
In the World Of Balance,
encounter Intangir as described previously. Instead of casting Doom, have
Gau in your party and keep him with you always. When facing Intangir
choose the "Rage" Rhodox and wait. The only two commands he uses
are Fight and Snare. Snare will eliminate the monster, and it will not be
able to counter with the extremely powerful Meteo.
In the World Of Ruin, go to
the desert south west of Maranda. There a creature called Cactros that has
3 HP, but is hard to hit and is immune to almost all magic. Use Cyan's
Dispatch, Edgar's Drill, or Sabin's Bum Rush to defeat it.
Hint:
Give Gogo any commands (Final Fantasy 6): Go to Gogo's status screen. Look at his commands. You will see
Mimic and three empty slots below it. Choose one of the empty slots and a
list of all of the commands from the other characters you have will
appear. Choose the one you want, then do the same with the other two
slots. For example, you can have Mimic, Blitz, Tools, and Swordtech all at
the same time, if desired.
Hint:
More damage with Locke (Final Fantasy 6): Equip Locke with Offering and Genji Glove. Then, give him the
Atma weapon Valiant Knife. Although this is best when around 4000 HP, he
still does a lot of damage if less is available.
Hint:
Saving Cid (Final Fantasy 6): To save Cid at the beginning of the World of Ruin, feed him
only Yummy Fish. They are the ones that swim the fastest. If there are
none there, go back to him, then return to the shore.
Hint:
Remove bad after-battle status effects by using Relics (Final Fantasy 6): If a character is inflicted with an after-battle status effects
such as Poison, go to that character's Relic sub-menu and choose a Relic
that prevents the status effect that is afflicted. Press X then go
back to the menu screen. The status effect that the Relic you equipped to
the character should stop any of the status effects it can stop. Return to
the Relic screen. Remove the Relic used to remove the status effect and
equip the original Relic(s) you had for that character. For example, If
Edgar has Poison and Darkness, go to the relic Screen and get a Relic that
can either stop Poison and/or Darkness (for example, the Star Pendant). Go
back to menu screen, then give him Goggles or another Relic that stops
Darkness. Next, go to the Relic screen, remove those two relics, and give
him the original ones.
Hint:
Limit Breaks (Final Fantasy 6): To do a Limit Break with any character, you need to be at low
HP and do a critical hit. This does not work with the Genji Glove or
Offering equipped.
Hint:
Stronger Umaro (Final Fantasy 6): Note: A lot of money is required for this trick. Buy 99 Green
Cherries. During a battle in the World Of Ruin, have Umaro in your party.
Use some Green Cherries on Umaro and he will become stronger without
having to level up.
Hint:
Getting the Paladin Shield (Final Fantasy 6): Equip the Cursed Shield and a Ribbon (so the effects of the
Cursed Shield are negated). Fight 255 battles to transform the Cursed
Shield into the Paladin Shield.
The easiest way to turn the
Cursed Shield to the Paladin Shield is as follows. Go the Solitary island,
where you started in the World of Ruin. Equip the Cursed Shield, and the
Ribbon to negate the effects of it. Stay out of the desert and just fight
Peepers. If desired, you do not have to do anything. They have 1 HP and 0
MP, and kill themselves after about five to ten seconds. If you bring
Locke with you, he will be able to steal every couple of battles before
the Peepers kill themselves. Every few times, if the Sneak Ring and Thief
Glove Are equipped, he will steal an elixir. Also, make sure you have
Espers equipped. While you only get 1 MP for winning, you do have to fight
255 battles to change the shield, so many party members can learn new
spells. Make sure you pick up Palidor from the beach by the house on the
island.
Once you have obtained the
Paladin Shield, have a fast party member equip it along with the Ribbon
Relic. Also equip the Dragoon Boots on that character. The countdown until
death will be stopped for a period of time. After 255 or 225 battles, the
Cursed shield should transform into the Paladin shield. Try battling at
the forest north of the Veldt to level up and upgrade your shield.
Hint:
Getting the Chain Saw (Final Fantasy 6): In Zozo, when you find the clock on the top right side of the
town, put in the following times. First hand 6:00, second hand 10, third
hand 50.
Hint:
Atma Weapon combo (Final Fantasy 6): This trick requires the Atma Weapon (Cave to Esper World),
Offering (In World Of Ruin, Odin's Castle), and approximately 7,000 HP.
The Atma Weapon powers up by your HP. With high HP you should be able to
do 9,999 damage to every enemy (even Kefka). With the Offering, you will
do this four times (39,996 damage) in just one turn.
Hint:
Another Atma Weapon (Final Fantasy 6): I is possible to get another Atma Weapon during the final set
of battles. When battling the warrior with a woman's head above and behind
him (just before god Kefka), steal from the woman's head. You should now
be able to equip another Atma Weapon to a character.
Hint:
Getting Sabin's Bum Rush (Final Fantasy 6): Have Sabin in your party and take off in the airship in the
World Of Ruin. Go near the Narshe, and search for five trees forming a
plus sign like this:
T
T T T
T
Land nearby and walk into the
middle tree to find Sabin's old sensei (who he thought was dead). The
teacher will teach Sabin the Bum Rush, an extremely strong, single person
attack.
Hint:
Random hat replacement (Final Fantasy 6): Un-equip the hat of the character you like the most. Sell all
other hats you have. Then, go to the hatless character's equipment screen
and select "Optimum". Sometimes a random item (usually a Genji
Glove) will be equipped as a hat, and boosts defense up to 255.
Hint:
Stealing a Gengi Glove (Final Fantasy 6): On the floating continent in the World Of Balance, you can
steal a Genji Glove from the Dragon. Bring Locke along and equip him with
either a Genji Glove and the Thieve's Glove (or the Steal Ring and the
Thieve's Glove). The dragon also carries a potion.
Hint:
Second Memento Ring (Final Fantasy 6): You can get a second Memento Ring by searching the left side of
the upper story of Strago's house. Go to the left side wall and go down
until you run into the chair. Turn left and press X and you will
receive a second Memento ring which only Relm and Shadow can use.
Hint:
Merit Award (Final Fantasy 6): To get a Merit Award, which allows a character to wear heavy
armor, fight an enemy called Hoover which uses Sand attacks which cause
heavy damage. Equip a Thunder Shield to absorb this effect and use a
Blizzard sword to do heavy damage to the monster.
Hint:
Economizer relic (Final Fantasy 6): This relic turns all MP used on any magic move to only 1 MP.
You can only get it the second world, after Kefka blows up the world,
above the Veldt (the place where you teach Gau new moves). It is a small
forest patch on the island just north of the Vedlt Island. You will be
close when Tyranos start attacking. Keep fighting them and every once and
a while a monster called a Bracosaur will attack. Have Locke steal from
it. If that was unsuccessful, kill it and hope that it appears after the
battle.
Make sure Lock is level 35 or
higher. Equip him with an Off Ring, the Theif Knife, and your best armor.
The Marvel Shoes also help. Save the game and bet the Strato at the
Colosseum. You will fight an Aquila. Locke will attempt to steal about 50%
of the time. When he is successful and if you are lucky, you will get an
Economizer. If you get a Phoenix Down, use the in-game reset, reload, and
try again. Once he is successful and you win the fight, you will get a
Pearl Lance. Bet that in the Coliseum, and you will win another Strato.
You can repeat this as many times as desired.
Hint:
Elixir (Final Fantasy 6): Go any town and check out the houses. Many houses have a
grandfather clock. Walk up to the clock and press X. You will most
likely receive an elixir. Note: This only works once per clock.
Hint:
Get the Genji Glove early (Final Fantasy 6): When Bannon asks you to join the Returners, say "No"
three times. One of the people inside will give you the Genji Glove.
Hint:
White Cape (Final Fantasy 6): You can get a White Cape from the Returners Hideout early in
the game. There is a hidden passage in the north room.
Hint:
Getting Raiden (Final Fantasy 6): To get Raiden you need Odin. Go in Edger's castle in the World
Of Ruin and go underground. When the game states that you hit something,
go and check. In the jail there will be an open door. Go through it and
you enter a cave. After the cave you will get into the Ancient Castle.
Enter the throne room, go to the right side of the throne, walk five steps
down, and press X. When you do this go into the right room, and a
new room will be there. Note: If you do this you wll lose Odin and gain
Raiden.
Hint:
Getting Gogo (Final Fantasy 6): In the World Of Ruin, go to the northeast triangle island.
Bring strong characters. There you will meet a monster named Zoneeater. It
uses Demi, but also uses an attack called "Engulf" that sucks a
character into him. Allow him to use "Engulf" on all of your
characters. The game will not end. Instead, you will end up in a cave.
This cave has strong monsters and great treasures, such as the Genji
Armor. Jump across the bridges and avoid the walking people to eventually
reach the end. Walk through the door and you will see a covered-up person.
Talk to him and he will join your party.
Hint:
Getting Yeti (Final Fantasy 6): Go to Narshe in the World Of Ruin. Have Mog in your party.
Then, go to the mountain where you first got Mog. You will see the frozen
Esper from the start of the game. Use Fire attacks on him and defeat him.
This is the esper Tritoch that teaches Fire 3, Ice 3, and Bolt 3. Then, go
to where the Esper was located and slide down. You will be in a cave. Most
of the chests are trapped, and only have a secret path to them -- do not
touch them. At the end of the cave, go to the skull statue, and take the
Esper. Yeti will attack you. Defeat him, and if you have Mog in your
party, he will join.
Hint:
Getting the Soul Saber (Final Fantasy 6): To obtain this sword, in the World Of Ruin go to Firgao and
into the dungeon where Edgar rejoins your party. Go into the room were all
the thieves entered. At the center is a statue of armor. Approach to it
and press X to get the Soul Saber. This is a great sword, as it
deals damage by how much MP you used. It also refills you MP.
Hint:
Getting Odin Esper (Final Fantasy 6): Use the following trick to get the Odin Esper quickly, without
getting into battles. After receiving the Airship in the World Of Ruins,
go to Narshe. Go to where the Moogle Village is located. Talk to Mog and
he will join the party. In the location where you found Mog, search the
wall to retrieve the Moogle Charm (when equipped on Mog, you will fight no
random encounters). Go to Figaro Castle and talk to the engineer to head
back to the desert. When the castle is moving, you will suddenly stop and
the engineer will mention something. Go to the prison cell with the door
and go through. Have Mog in the party with the relic Moogle Charm
equipped. Follow the path until you reach the Ancient Castle. Go to the
throne room and search the statue to retrieve the Odin Esper. You will
never encounter an enemy unless you open two chests that contain monsters.
If this happens, just cast Vanish then Doom to dispose of them. This is an
easy way to get Odin and learn the rare spell Meteor.
Hint:
Getting Ragnorak Esper (Final Fantasy 6): After you save Locke in the World Of Imbalance and the scene
with Rachele (Locke's girlfriend), go to Narshe. Open the weapons shop and
go in the door on the right. The man will ask if you want the sword. Take
the Esper. The sword teaches you Flare, but you can learn it elsewhere
while the Esper teaches you Ultima, the best spell in the game.
Hint:
More Espers (Final Fantasy 6): Go to Albrook in the World of Balance. Immediately before going
to the floating continent, you will meet a man that says someone tried to
sell a glowing rock, and that he went to Tzen. Go to Tzen and look behind
the trees in the top right-hand corner of the town. You can buy the
Sraphim Esper for 3000 GP. Also at this time, if you go to Jidoor you can
buy the Golem and ZoneSeek Espers for 20,000 GP at the auction house, but
it may take a while because some other things are sold there as well, such
as Cure Rings, Cherub Downs and talking Chocobos (which you cannot
actually buy).
Hint:
Easy Catrot battles (Final Fantasy 6): You will find a creature called the Cactrot in the desert
southwest of Maranda. It only has 3 HP, an extremely high Evade. Equip
your characters with a Sniper Sight and a Genji Glove to take off 2 HP
every time it is attacked. This can also be helpful when you face a Catrot
in the coliseum.
Equip the Sniper Sight and
the Atma Weapon (which should be found before you even get to World of
Ruin). This will kill Cactrot with one hit.
When trying to kill the
Catrot, use Edgar's tool command, then use the Drill.
Hint:
Cast Ultima five times for 1 MP (Final Fantasy 6): Equip the Economizer and Gem Box relics to allow you attack two
times for 2 MP. Make sure you know the magic Quicke, then enter a battle.
Cast Quicke followed by Ultima, then just Ultima four more times.
Hint:
Throw anything twice (Final Fantasy 6): The following trick allows you to throw anything twice, even if
you only have one of the item. Have Gogo mimic Shadow to throw the same
item twice. Note. If you throw an item that you have more than one of,
Gogo will use his own and you will lose two items instead of one.
Hint:
Get through tough levels without avoiding battles (Final Fantasy 6): If you are fighting foes who primarily do not use magic, cast
Vanish on all your party members. Afterwards, most battles can be fought
without taking damage. Occasionally, you will have to recast Vanish when
magic is actually used. This works very well if you battle Bosses, such as
Umaro, who do not use magic, and you are tired of using the Vanish/Doom
trick.
Hint:
Good Coliseum techniques (Final Fantasy 6):
Get the Marvel Shoes Bet the Flame Sabre to get something (face a "hard"
Ninja). Bet that item to get the Rename Card (face Cactrot). Bet the
Rename Card to get the Marvel Shoes (face DoomDragon)
Cactrot battle It helps if your other relic are the Marvel Shoes. If you do not
have them, get the Cure Ring, as he has a 1,000 point attack.
Most other battles after
getting the Marvel Shoes Equip the Marvel Shoes and Dragoon Boots. It also helps if you have
made it to at least level 35, and have either the Genji or Aegis shield,
plus the Force Armor. Do not use the Atma Weapon here. It also helps if
you know some spells, such as Stop.
The Doom Dragon Equip the same relics and armor as above, also equip the Flame
shield. The dragon know S.Cross, a powerful "fire" spell --
this will absorb it. If you have good magic defense, his N.Cross
"ice" spell will rarely, if ever hit. With the Dragon Boots
you can be in the air and gain some life back with the Marvel Shoes. He
does use Fallen One, which takes your HP down to 1, but rarely attacks
so you can gain life back. It helps if you are at a higher level so you
can evade his rare non-magic attacks.
Rename Card Another way to get the rename card in the coliseum, which you need
to get the marvel shoes, is to bet an Elixir. Then you can fight and
should easily beat Cactrot.
Hint:
Good setup for either Terra or Celes in WOR (Final Fantasy 6): The following is a good setup for either Terra or Celes in WOR,
, but before gaining the Marvel Shoes. Equip the relic that allows you to
hold two weapons. 2. Equip Drainer with the right hand, and Atma Weapon
with the left. This allows you to gain HP first, which makes the Atma
weapon more powerful immediately on the same attack. The Mystery Veil,
Force Armor is good for armor, and Running Shoes and another relic is also
good (Cure Ring is not necessary). After gaining the Marvel Shoes, equip
the Soul Sabre, which you also win in the Coliseum instead. With the
Marvel Shoes and good armor, you should be near the maximum HP most of the
time, and will instead need to gain MP back.
Hint:
Level up strategy (Final Fantasy 6): When leveling, make sure you have the right Esper you want
equipped to give you bonus leveling points. Once you gain Bahamut, make
sure the person with the Atma Weapon is using it to gain HP +50%,. This
will make the Atma Weapon even more powerful.
Hint:
Get Cyan in World Of Ruin (Final Fantasy 6): Go to the town of Zozo. Talk to the only man that is walking
around (not jumping from building to building or laying down). He will
give you an item. Then, go to the top of the building with the door that
is rusted shut and use the item that the man gave you. It will open the
rusted door, which leads to Mt. Zozo. There, you will get in a lot of
fights and eventually meet up with Cyan.
Hint:
Oprah words (Final Fantasy 6):
Oh my hero
I'm the darkness
Must I
Hint:
Coliseum items in World Of Ruin (Final Fantasy 6):
Trade a Behemoth suit and
get a Snow suit. It works well with Mog.
Trade a Rising sun or a Sniper and get a Bone club. Trade the Bone Club
and get a Red Jacket.
Trade a Chocobo suit and get a Moogle suit. Trade the Moogle suit and
get a Nutkin suit. Trade that and get Genji Armor.
Trade Coronet and get a Regal Crown. Trade that and a get Genji helmet.
Trade an Imp Halberd and keep trading everything you get till u get an
EXP egg.
Hint:
Final Fantasy 8 reference (Final Fantasy 6): Note: This is requires a lot of patience. At start up menu(with
the little characters running around), keep using the in-game reset. You
may see Squall(Gunblade and all) run onto the srcreen.
Glitch:
Psycho Cyan (Final Fantasy 6): At the start of battle, have Cyan perform the
"Retort" SwordTech (or SwdTech 2), then have another party
member cast the "Imp" spell on him. Next, kill Cyan by attacking
him with a physical attack in one blow or several magic attacks. This is
to not trigger Retort and cancel the process. After he is wounded, revive
him with a Life spell or Fenix Down. After any character/enemy attacks,
Cyan should automatically and continuously attack all enemies
uninterrupted until they are all dead. Use this process to instantly
defeat Bosses and tough enemies, including Kefka.
Glitch:
Misspelling (Final Fantasy 6): Before battle, equip someone with the Esper Fenrir. Then while
in battle, go to the person with Fenrir, select "Magic", and
press Up. The game will have "Fenris" printed instead of
"Fenrir".
