In-game
reset: Hold L1 + L2 + R1 + R2 + Select
+ Start during game play.
Easy
Chocobo races: Hold R1 + R2 while racing a Chocobo to slowly
restore energy. Then quickly press Circle to get energy back.
Chocobo
preview: After breeding or feeding a Chocobo, press L1 or R1
to turn it and be able view it in 360 degrees.
Defeating
Teyioh: When Teyioh appears on the screen that shows your opponents,
press Start. When the starting line appears press Select and
hold Circle until your Chocobo has about one tenth of its stamina
remaining. Hold down L1 + R1 + L2 + R2 and
restore its energy. When it gets back to two tenths or more, then lower it
back to one tenth. Note: Do not use stamina at the ending space background
unless your Chocobo is green or better.
Easy
Battle Square handicaps: Rapidly tap Square during the "slot machine"
handicap sequence in the Battle Square section at Gold Saucer. The slots
will slow down, allowing an easier selection of your handicap. Note: This
trick will also work in a similar manner with Cait Sith's limit break.
Hint:
Avoid back attack: When surprised with a back attack, try running away to
automatically turn around (hold L1 + R1). This allows your
party to take less damage, however the enemy will get the first strike.
Hint:
Faster time bar: When you get into any battle, rapidly press Circle.
However, if this slows the time bar down, rapidly press Triangle.
If Triangle slows you down when it was speeding up, then rapidly
press Circle again. Keep switching if you have to.
When you are fighting one of
the more difficult battles and run low health or need to attack quicker,
open the PlayStation's lid and let the game idle for awhile. While it is
searching for the game disc, your time gauge will still be recharging.
Hint:
Huge Materia from Cid's Rocket: The code to get the Huge Materia from Cid's rocket is Circle,
SquareX, X. Note: If you do not get the code,
restart and retry from a saved game.
Hint:
Maneuvering the Highwind: The Highwind can be turned sideways or flown backwards without
turning around. Hold Square and press the D-pad in the
desired direction while flying.
Instead of pressing Square
+ D-pad to fly the Highwind, press Circle to go forward.
Press R1 or L1 to turn sharper.
To fly crooked, hold R1
+ Left or L1 + Right while moving at full speed
forward.
Hint:
Sharp turns in vehicles: Hold L1 or R1 and Left or Right to
turn sharply while in vehicles.
Hint:
Easy Key to Sector 5: Instead of going through all of the digging to find the
"Key to Sector 5" on the top level of the Bone Village, go to
the village in Disc 3. There should be an X on the ground in front of the
ladder to the second level. Talk to the man and dig for normal treasure in
the exact center of the X three times. The first time you should get Cid's
mop, the second time you should get W-Summon, and the third time you
should get the Key to Sector 5.
Hint:
Presidential send-off tricks: After doing the Presidential Send-Off event and receiving your
prize from Hedigger, press Square, Circle, X, or Triangle
to make Cloud do things such as place his hands on his hips, shrug, and
scratch his back with the gun.
Hint:
View Cloud's Omnislash from behind: When you get Omnislash, use it. Immediately after you select
your enemies, open the lid on the PlayStation. The game will go through
all of the camera movements of the Omnislash, but Cloud will not use the
technique. When the camera stops the second time, close the lid. About 15
seconds after you close the door, Cloud will use Omnislash. Note:
Sometimes the camera will go in front. Make sure you have either Cloud or
Red XIII in the middle or you may not see Cloud.
Hint:
Bahamnant ZERO Summon Materia details: Walk around after boarding the Shinra No. 26 spaceship on disc
two. Your party will be able to go down to the space pod or up the ladder
to the right to the huge materia. Go to the huge materia and use the talk
button at the tall glass to speak with Cid. He will explain the controls
in this part of the game. Talk again at the case and enter the password Circle,
Square, X, X to collect the Key Item "Huge
Materia". After travelling to Cosmo Canyon later in the game, talk to
Bugenhagen. He will take your party up to his observatory. Approach to the
Blue huge materia and get closer. Your party will receive the Bahamnant
ZERO summon materia.
Hint:
Sense without wasting a turn: Press Select to display a window above the time bars,
then sense the enemy. From this point on whenever you attack that enemy
while selecting, look in that window to see its current HP and name. Note:
This only works during the current battle.
Hint:
Easy AP, Gil, and experience: Note: A controller with a turbo feature is required for this
trick. Go to Cactuar Island (an island in the far north east) and morph
three Cactuars into Tetra Elementals. Go to the area around Mideel and
"park" your Gold Chocobo or the Highwind on the small sliver of
grass below the drop after you pass Mideel going west (not near the
forest, but on the area below that.) Walk towards the long beach area far
away from your transportation-- if you accidentally get off track, you
could get on your airship or Chocobo and drift off. Equip a Mastered Enemy
Lure and weapons that can receive the most AP (not your ultimate weapons).
The Scimitar, Apocalypse, Platinum Fist, etc. should be your priorities.
Equip the Materia you want to get a lot of AP on the weapons. These may
include Knights Of The Round, Double Cut, and Bahamut Zero. Cloud, Cid,
and Tifa work the best if they are at high levels because they all get
triple AP with certain weapons. Equip Cloud with the Apocalypse, Mystile,
and Tetra elemental; Cid (if used) with the Scimitar, anything else, and
Tetra elemental; Tifa (if used) with Platinum Fist, anything else, and
Tetra elemental. Set turbo on Circle and keep it held (a rubber
band is suggested). Additionally, hold Down (also with a rubber
band) If correctly, you will be going left and right continuously and
encountering an enemy called the Sandworm. The maximum damage it can do is
50 to 70 because you absorb the Sandstorm and Earthquake attacks (due to
the Tetra elementals). Each defeated Sandworm results in 1300 EXP, 200 AP,
and 5000 Gil. With luck, all materia will be mastered and you will have
millions of Gil after a few hours.
Hint:
Play Cosmo Canyon song: You can play the Cosmo Canyon song on your own by going to
Tifa's house in Nibelheim. Then, press Square, Square, Square,
X, Square, Circle, Circle, R1 + X,
Circle, R1 + Square, R1 + Square, R1
+ Square, R1 + X, Circle, R1 + X,
R1 + Square, R1 + X, Circle, R1
+ X, R1 + Square, Circle, Square, X,
Circle, Square, X, Square. Note: This serves
no purpose in the game.
Hint:
Play Highwinds song: Play the following notes on the piano at Tifa's house in
Nibelheim: X, Square , Triangle, R1 + Triangle,
R1 + Square, X, Square , Triangle, R1
+ X, Circle, X, Square, X, Square,
Triangle, R1 + Triangle, R1 + Circle, X,
Square, Triangle, R1 + X, Circle, X,
Square, X.
Hint:
Play Her Ghost In The Fog song: Going to Tifa's house in Nibelheim and play the following for
Her Ghost In The Fog (by Cradle Of Filth): R1 + Square(7), R1
+ Triangle(7), R1 + X, Circle, R1 + Square(7),
R1 + Triangle(7), R1 + X, R1 + Circle.
Hint:
Extra experience (Japanese version): When in the Gold Saucer prison, enter the well just outside of
the town. Walk around until encountering a monster named "Test
0" which resembles a dog. You can poison or attack it. Instead of
fighting back, it will whimper and ask that it not be hurt.
Glitch:
Gold Saucer FMV: When flying to Gold Saucer for the first time, the propellers
are facing the front, in the direction that it moves. In the FMV sequence,
they are on the back, propelling it.
Glitch:
Gold Saucer Battle Square entrance: When you go to the Gold Saucer, go to the Battle Square. Choose
to enter the Battle Square with Cloud. Make sure you have a different
weapon, such as the Ultima weapon, equipped and enter. When you see Cloud
running in, he has his original Buster Sword equipped. However, when you
start battling, you see him with the sword you equipped before entering.
Glitch:
Unfinished cave: There is a hidden cave on the pathway to the Ancient Capital.
This cave can be found right after the two screens of the Sleeping Forest.
Move to the right of the screen where the log bridge is located. You will
notice a vine hanging from a cliff. A large opening, which is most likely
a cave, can be seen hidden within the shadows of the cliff . There is a
small detour that leads to the vine, but you cannot climb it. It has been
theorized that this "cave" is a glitch and was probably the
remnant of a side-quest in the game that was taken out.
Glitch:
Dead end: When on Disc 1 at the part were you must go to the Sleeping
Forest in Bone Village, go to Yuffie's home town instead. You will not be
able to do anything and have to start again.
Glitch:
Missing part of the world: During Disc 3, while riding a Chocobo or flying the Highwind on
the world map, a part of the world will be cut off. You must go to another
location immediately. If you remain at the cut off place too long, the
screen will freeze and turn black with a small, gray box and a flashing
question mark inside. If you wait, the game may recover, but it sometimes
does not. Note: The cut off part of the world map will be black.
Glitch
Changing sword name: When you are at the Gold Saucer the second time after Wutai,
make sure you have the "Yoshiyuki" weapon for Cloud. Go to the
Battle Arena and choose Cloud to enter. When he is running to the center
of the arena, he will have a "Buster Sword" instead of the
"Yoshiyuki". However, in the battle he has the
"Yoshiyuki".
Glitch:
Golden Saucer Battle Square: Note: This trick is done with Cloud. Equip any weapon that he
can use except his initial weapon, the Buster Sword (for example,
Ragnarok). When you register for the Battle Square, choose Cloud to enter.
When he runs in the battle room, he will have his Buster Sword. However,
when you go into battle you will have the other sword that was equipped.
Glitch:
Aeris' Limit Break: When you get the Highwind, you can get Mythril from the
sleeping man. You can give the Mythril to the weapon seller and he will
let you open one of his boxes (the one at the end of the upstairs hallway
or the on in the corner). If you choose the small one, you will get Aeris'
Great Gospel Limit Break. However, if you have the Highwind, then Aeris is
no longer with you.
Glitch:
Aeris' ribbon: In the FMV sequence where Aeris has her final scene, her hair
ribbon and the White Materia will come off her. After the FMV sequence,
Cloud runs up and catches her. She will have the ribbon in her hair.
Glitch:
Barret's Atomic Scissors: When you equip Barret with the atomic scissors. It comes up on
his left arm but he has his right arm shot off.
Glitch:
Cloud walking on house: Go on the hill between Icicle and the Great Glacier and walk to
town. Cloud will walk on top of one of the house graphics if you walk into
it.
Glitch:
Disappearing Barret and Tifa: When you are at the Shinra building, you must climb up a large
number stairs on the side of the building to reach the 59th floor. When
you are on the fifth or sixth flight of stairs, you will see Barret's and
Tifa's speech bubbles with comments to each other as they (supposedly) run
up the stairs wheezing and puffing. You will see Cloud at the beginning of
the flight of stairs, but Barret and Tifa are not running up them.
However, unlike the other flights of stairs, they are already at the top
of them.
Glitch:
Frozen game: When you are dressed as a woman in the sector Don Corneo lives
in, go in front of the Honey Bee. When all the men move towards you, the
fat man in the red vest will be the last one to block you off from the
Honey Bee. Before he blocks you off, quickly close all dialogue boxes and
run around him. A box that says "Hey, Cloud" will appear and the
game will freeze.
Play the game on a
PlayStation 2. Select the "Config" option at the menu. Then go
to "Customize" at "Controller" screen. Press R3
or L3 and the screen will glitch. When you try to exit, the game
will freeze.
Glitch:
Walk through people: In Mideel, you can walk through most of the people in the town
including Tifa and the nurse in the clinic. This also works in several
other towns.
Glitch:
Submarine through Emerald Weapon: Take the sub to the bottom of the ocean. You now have to make
Emerald Weapon fly over you, which is not easy. One trick is to wait in
the bottom of the crater in the middle of the ocean. When Emerald Weapon
swims over, quickly press X to go back to the surface. You will run
into Emerald Weapon. The battle music will start and you will encounter a
black screen then mysteriously be on the surface.
Glitch:
Characters move after being hit: Go to a place where you can fight a Crown Lance (Flying
Jellyfish). Wait until it does the attack Deadly Needles. Run away when a
character becomes petrified. When you run, the petrified character will
turn around and be in a running position but not move.
Glitch:
Gargoyles in North Crater: Use an attack on the gargoyles in the North Crater and make
sure it hits both of them at the same time. Use Flash immediately after
the attack. They will turn green as usual and the death sound will play,
but they are still alive.
Glitch:
Go to next screen without leaving current screen: Use the finger in certain towns and dungeons. You can move
Cloud around the red arrow that points out the exit without leaving the
screen. When that happens, you can walk behind the arrow and go to the
next screen. This happens quite often in some areas of the Great Glacier
and Junon, or where there are wide spaces that lead to other screens.
Glitch:
Quadra magic without any Chocobo breeding: Take the Highwind to the Materia cave containing Quadra magic
and you will soon notice their is some land behind the cave. It helps to
change the camera angle to the bird's eye view. Try to land on that little
space. This rarely works, but when it does your Highwind will be on the
land, and you will be directly in front of the cave. This seems to work
better if you also have a Chocobo on the Highwind.
Glitch:
Phantom Chocobo: Get a Chocobo in a stable, talk to Billy, and choose
"Riding". Once you are outside, get off your Chocobo and go back
inside. Talk to Billy again, and choose "Feeding", or anything
else that lets you see your Chocobos. Go to the space where that Chocobo
you rode was located, to find a phantom looking Chocobo.
Glitch:
Stuck in jail: Get to the point at Shinra where you are jailed. When you fight
your way back to your partner and you are supposed to get the keycard from
the assistant, do not do so. Instead, go back to your cell. When you get
back up and everyone is dead, you cannot get the keycard from him. You
will have to start the game again.
Glitch:
Softer music: Mate two Chocobos at the Chocobo Ranch and after they have a
baby Chocobo, after you have named the Chocobo and it shows Cloud back
inside the barn, the music is a lot lower then when you first walked into
the barn.
Glitch:
Looping magic: In a battle, cast "Reflect" on the opponent and then
do same thing on yourself. Then, cast Fire, Ice, Lightning or anything
else on your opponent or yourself. The chosen materia will
"loop" between you and the enemy forever. You will have to
restart or turn off the PlayStation to escape.
Glitch:
Double kill: Have Aeris and Tifa in your party. Use Seal Evil with Aeris
then finish the paralyzed monster with Tifa's normal attack. It will die
two times.
This can occur while fighting
the Ultima weapon the final time above Cosmo Canyon. Its final attack is
Shadow Flare, and he will use it on the character that kills him. First,
choose who is going to deliver the final blow to the Ultima Weapon. Cast
Reflect on that character. When he dies, he will cast Shadow Flare, and it
will reflect off your character and hit him. He will die, then die again.
This technique also works good if you are collecting Enemy Skills. Just
put Reflect and the Enemy Skill Materia on the character who will deliver
the final blow. You will get Shadow Flare, and it will not be harmful to
that character.
Glitch:
Fighting Sephiroth: When fighting the very last form of Sephiroth, normally your
limit will fill and you can use Omnislash. However, if you press Triangle
to skip your turn as in a normal battle, you will see the same thing
happen to Sephiroth as if you had attacked.
When fighting Sephiroth for
the very last time, instead of attacking, choose "Defend". If
you have a mastered Counter Attack Materia equipped, Cloud will attack
Sephiroth. Regardless of how many HPs the attack gives, the same thing
will happen to Sephiroth as if you used Omnislash.
Glitch:
Misspelling: During the materia blend for the master command, the game
displays "Sence" instead of "Sense".
After buying Chocobo stables
at the Chocobo ranch, capture a Chocobo. Then go to the Chocobo rancher's
son and buy some Curiel greens. Talk to the Chocobo's ranchers son again
and select "Feed Chocobos". The game will display
"Kurie" greens instead of "Curiel
greens. The same applies to Krakka/Karaka greens, Pahsana/Pasana greens,
Mimett/Memit greens, and Gysahl/Gizzard greens.
Go to the Chocobo Sage's
house, just north of Bone Village, and buy the two nuts that he is selling
-- the Porov nut and the Pram nut. Go to the Chocobo rancher's son at the
Chocobo Ranch. Ask him if you can buy something, and buy the Luchile nut
and the Pepio nut. Now ask the Rancher's son if you can mate two Chocobos.
Do not worry -- you will not have to mate the two. When he asks you what
kind of nut you want to give them, instead of showing "Porov
nut", "Porofu will be displayed. It is also different with the
Pram/Param nut, Luchile/Ruchin nut, and Pepio/Pipio nut.
When you have to run on the
Cannon as Tifa in the Junon Execution part in the first areas of Disc 2,
press Triangle. In the part of the menu screen where it displays
your location, it will read "Canon" instead of
"Cannon".
When you get the "Luck
Plus" Materia in the Temple of the ancients, the message that appears
reads, "Recieved 'Lucky Plus'" instead of "Received 'Luck
Plus.'"
When in the fighting arena at
the Gold Saucer, you will get the choice to continue or stay after
defeating an opponent. The actual text reads "Off Course"
instead of "Of Course".
When you get to Sector 5 for
the first time, go to the pipe with blue inside. Aeris will say saying
''This guy are sick'' instead of ''This guy is sick''.
Get Tifa's final limit break
and try to give it to her when she is on limit level 2 or 3. She will say
"I've got the wrong person" instead of "You've got the
wrong person."
When Cloud asks why Vincent
wants to join you in the Shinra Mansion Basement, he will say "Being
a former Turks" instead of "Being a former Turk".
Go to Wutai as soon as
possible in the game. And at some point Reno or Rude will say: "You
are a Turks" instead of "You are a Turk" to Elena.
Before you fight Reno for the
first time he will say "No one get in the way of Reno and the
Turks" instead of "gets".
When you get the Highwind and
talk to Cait Sith he says "I will give you information Shinra"
instead of "I will give you information about Shinra".
After Meteor has been
summoned, go to Cosmo Canyon and to the weapons department in the big
mountain-like location. The lady at the counter says "Uh, I mean,
it's weird. if there weren't people like you, I'll be out of business.
Heh, heh, heh...sweat...!". She says "I'll" instead of
"I'd" and "I" in the word "if" will not be
capitalized.
When Bizzaro Sepiroth uses
Bizzaro Energy the game states that he is using :Bizzaro Enegy".
When the Command Counter
Materia is paired with another Materia (such as Morph), the box at the top
of the screen will say "cought by surprise" instead of
"caught by surprise" when you enter a battle.
When you are in the second to
last battle fighting Bizzarro Sephiroth, he will heal himself by saying
"Bizzarro Enegy" instead of "Bizzarro Energy."
After you win a battle at the
Battle Arena in the Gold Saucer, "Off course!" will appear
instead of "Of course!".
Glitch:
Grammar: During the beginning of the game, Barret will say: "If you
push the directional button while pushing the [CANCEL] button to
run." In that statement, the words "If" and "you"
were not needed.
Battle Hints
Attacks:
Cast magic three times at an opponent: Have all characters have Reflect status. Cast any attack spell
on all three of your characters. The spell will bounce three times into
the enemy, each with the attack power of a full spell.
Attacks:
Easy Deathblow: Manipulating your enemy makes for an easy deathblow.
Attacks:
Strong Omnislash: After battling 2000 times at intervals of 500 battles, if Cloud
has a certain combo of weapon and HP he will insult the enemy and do
Omnislash attack with each hit doing several thousand damage, regardless
of defense.
Attacks:
Strong Comet: If you have a high magic stat, a few Master Magic or Level
2/Mastered Comet Materia, Quadra Magic and W-Magic, link Comet2 to Quadra
Magic, and have W-Magic. Link extra Comet2 to HP Absorb, MP Absorb
(optional) and Added Cut. The result will be 40 hits for 9,999 damaged,
which Mimed twice can even kill the Weapons.
Attacks:
7777 fever: If your HP is exactly 7777, you will attack random enemies
numerous times doing 7777 damage. To reach that number of HP, get your HP
to be 1 at end of a battle. Then have a character with 184 magic cast 3
Cures on that character. Note: That character's HP will drop down to 1
afterwards.
Another way to get 7777 fever
is to get your player's HP below 154. Then, use the Cait Sith's Bell to
get your HP to 154. Use Demi2 and half your HP to 77. Then, use curative
items (not magic), to get your HP to 7777. After the battle, repeat the
process.
Note: This trick requires the
Hp<>Mp Materia, at least 13 Hi-Potions and 4 Potions. First, get to
level 99 with Cloud. Check his MP. It should be 877, with no Materia
equipped. Use a few Ethers to get his MP full. Equip the Hp<>Mp
Materia to Cloud then unequip it. If done correctly, his HP should be at
877. Use 13 Hi-Potions to get his HP to 7377. Use the four normal potions
to get his HP to 7777. You can do this as many times as desired, because
Cloud will not gain more MP as he is already on level 99.
Attacks:
Ultimate weapon damage: That the more your character is damaged when their ultimate
weapon is equipped the less damage it will do to your opponents. This is
especially important when fighting difficult opponents, such as the Ruby
and Emerald Weapons.
Attacks:
Finding the best weapons: Each character has an ultimate weapon that must be found using
the following instructions.
Cloud Found after killing Ultimate Weapon (not in Mideel).
Barret Found before fighting Hojo on Mako Cannon. Note: Barret must be in
your party for it to appear.
Aeris Found behind door four in the clock room at the Temple of the
Ancients.
Tifa Use the key to reach sector 5. Go to Wall Market and use the broken
item machine.
Yuffie Found in the downed Shinra Plane in the ocean.
Red XIII Take Bugenhagen to the ancient city, then return to Cosmo Canyon on
Disc 3 with Red XIII in your party. He will receive the weapon from
Bugenhagen.
Cid After the rocket in Rocket Town has been launched, talk to the man
outside the item shop several times.
Cait Sith When in Midgar for the second time, go to the Shinra Tower. Go to
floor 64 and enter the locker room. Search one of the lockers in the
third row on the left side .
Vincent After getting a Gold Chocobo or the Submarine, find the cave behind
the waterfall in the middle of a continent. Vincent must be in your
party.
Attacks:
Getting Limit Breaks:
Level 1 Skill 1: Already
learned.
Level 1 Skill 2: Use Level 1 skill eight times. You cannot use it eight
times in the same battle.
Level 2 Skill 1: Kill eighty enemies with the character that will learn
the limit break.
Level 2 Skill 2: Use Level 2 Skill 1 six times.
Level 3 Skill 1: Kill eighty enemies again.
Level 3 Skill 2: Use Level 3 Skill 1 four times.
Level 4: See following section.
Attacks:
Level 4 limit breaks:
Cloud: Omnislash Get 32,000 battle points in Battle Square at the Gold Saucer, then
trade them in at the machine. This is worth getting, as it does more
damage than Knights Of The Round when used at a high level with the
Ultima weapon.
Barret: Catastrophe Once Meteor has been summoned, go to North Corel and speak to the
woman whose husband died. She may be found in the first hut on the
second level in the town.
Red XIII: Cosmo Memory Defeat the Lost Number monster found in the safe at the Shinra
mansion.
Tifa: Final Heaven Go to Nibelheim with Tifa in the party. Then play the following
notes on the piano in her room by pressing X, Square, Triangle,
R1 + Triangle, R1 + Square, X, Square,
Triangle, R1 + X, Circle, X, Square,
Triangle (PlayStation version)
Aeris: Great Gospel Find the sleeping man on the first continent that can tell you how
many fights you have had. He is in a cave near Condor Fort, across a
river. The buggy (hitch a ride from Costa Del Sol) is needed to reach
that location. Once you find him, wander outside and keep getting in
fights until the last two digits of your fight total are the same (e.g.
688,133). Return to the may to receive some mithril. Go to the weapons
shop near Gongaga and talk to the man inside. He will offer you a small
or large box. Select the small box, then look in the box that is
upstairs.
Yuffie: All Creation Win all the battles in the pagoda in Wutei.
Cid: Highwind Found in the Gelinka (the sunken Shinra plane)
Vincent: Chaos Using the submarine or a Gold Chocobo, go to the circular lake on
the second island on disc 3. Vincent only has one break per level.
Attacks:
Fast limit breaks: Go to Cactaur Island (south of Cosmo Canyon) on Disc 2 or 3.
Manipulate the Catcar and use 1000 Needles.
It is a good idea to use the
following before starting the Temple Of The Ancients. For the limit breaks
that require 80 kills (or Vincent's or Cait Sith's limits), go to the
Mirithl Mines south of Fort Condor. Walk around fight a group of enemies,
like Hegs or others that appear in a group of five. Make sure your
character has a Fire 2, Ice 2, or Bolt 2 with an All Materia attached to
them. Then, attack with your magic.
For the limits that require
you to use your limit break eight times, find the Dual Horn enemy outside
of the Temple Of The Ancients. Manipulate it, then use its Big horn attack
on the character that has the limit break to be raised. Keep using it
until that character can use the limit break, then heal the Dual Horn if
it is still alive and continue.
Wait until at least Disc 2,
after gaining the Highwind. Equip the materia with the highest Hit Point
deductions (preferably materia with Hit Point deductions of 5% and 10%) -
your HP should be around 500 to 1000 or even lower. A good location to
attempt this trick is on the beaches of Mideel. The monsters at that
location have a main attack that takes off about 50 HP to 200 HP. With
lower HP, limit breaks should be easy to accomplish.
Use the following trick if
you are on Disc 2 or 3. Learn Regen from the Restore materia. Have the
Cover materia at 100%. Go just outside of the forest of Mideel (south of
the Chocobo Ranch). Find and fight little green grasshopper-appearing
monsters called Head Hunters. Before you enter the battle put the Cover
materia on the party member who you want to gain a limit break. When you
enter the battle, cast Regen on your party member who has the Cover
materia. Let the Head hunters attack your party member with Regen. When
they get their limit break, use it and/or kill the Head Hunters. Repeat
these steps a few times and he/she will learn a new limit break. Note: You
may have to cast Regen two or three times since it will eventually wear
off.
Attacks:
Cast summon eight times in a row: Note: The Master Summon, Quadra magic, and W-Summon materia are
required for this trick. Put the Master Summon and Quadra magic together
and put W-Summon in any other slot. Do not put Quadra magic and W-Summon
together. Use Knights Of The Round and have the other two characters mime
it to hit them your opponent 24 times.
Attacks:
Use magic three times: Cast Reflect magic on all of your characters. Then, use an all
magic attack on your team. The attack will reflect at the enemy three
times. It uses more MP but, it dishes out a lot more damage.
Attacks:
Unlimited Knights Of The Round: Once you have the Mime materia, master it twice and equip it to
everyone. Then, equip Cloud with Knights Of The Round. Get a W-Summon at
the Battle Square. When you fight Emerald Weapon, Ruby Weapon or Sephiroth
(the only opponent that can survive more than two Knights Of The Round),
cast Knights Of The Round twice and then Mime, Mime, Mime, etc., with no
MP cost to Mime. Doing this trick takes time, but is worth it.
Attacks:
Instant enemy kill: Get Cait Sith's limit up when he learns Slots. Get the slots to
make a cats face (the left slot has the whiskers, the middle has eyes and
mouth, and the right has the rest of the whiskers). Any enemy will
instantly be killed. Note: If you only get two parts of the cats face and
a bar, it will instantly kill your own party.
Attacks:
Non-stop battle: Cast Reflect on your party and all the enemies. Then cast some
sort of magic spell, and it will ricochet off, and it will never stop. You
will not be able to escape, and must reset the game.
Attacks:
Winning Boss fights: To win Boss fights easily, use Fury on your characters. Their
limit breaks will go up faster, and you will do some great damage.
Attacks:
Odin's Steel Bladed Sword: To use Odin's Steel Bladed Sword. equip Aeris with the Odin
Materia then equip it to another person. When you use the Odin Materia,
Odin will appear and automatically kill the enemy. Note: This will not
work on Bosses.
Attacks:
Higher stats: To increase all of your stats in battle, use several Hero
drinks. This works very well with Omnislash and Knights of the Round.
Defense:
Refill HP: Cast Regen-All on your party, then quickly open the PlayStation
lid when all opponents have been defeated. The game will be unable to load
the victory screen, and may glitch while the HP for each party member
fills. After everyone is at full health, close the lid to resume the game.
Another technique is to equip
everyone with a Terra Elemental. Then equip all of your characters with a
Elemental-Fire, Ice, Lightning, or Earth magic. Then, simply attack Cloud
and everyone else in the party. Instead of lowering your HP, you will gain
HP.
Enter an easy battle and cast
reflect on your opponents. Then cast Cure 3 on your party. It will do Cure
3 the same number of times as there are enemies. Note: It will only do
this to the person who casts the Cure 3.
Defense:
Curing Mini: Cast Mini on a character that already has the Mini status to
return to normal.
Defense:
Curing Toad: Cast Toad on a character that already has the Toad status to
return to normal.
Defense:
Counter Knights Of The Round endlessly: Master Summon (red Materia) with MP Boost or what ever it is
Knights Of The Round with Counter Magic. You can keep doing this unless
you run out of MP.
Defense:
Counter Shield endlessly: Shield equipped with Counter Magic with Master Magic (green
Materia). You cam use Shield as many times as long as someone attacks you,
unless you run out of MP.
Defense:
Counter Ultima endlessly: Ultima equipped with Counter Magic Master Magic (green
Materia). Every time someone attacks you, you will use Ultima unless you
run out of MP.
Materia:
Weapons strategies: Use the following steps to make the battle with the Emerald and
Ruby Weapons easier. Note: This must be done after Meteor is summoned and
the Highwind is in your possession.
1. Before fighting either
Weapons, find and equip the Morph Matera before returning to the
Undersea Reactor in Junon. Go through the sight-seeing tunnel (where the
ocean can be viewed) and enter battles until the Ghost Ship appears. Use
Morph when the enemy is low on HP to change them into an item called
"Guide Book".
2. Leave Junon and return
to Kalm. Go to the last house on the right, next to the bar. Go
upstairs, where an old man will be encountered. He will explain how he
wants to understand the afterlife, and ask you to find three items:
Guide Book, Earth Harp, and Desert Rose. He will notice that you already
have Guide Book and give you the Underwater Materia.
3. Equip the Underwater
Materia. It does not gain AP and will not duplicate. This Materia
removes the time limit when Emerald Weapon is encountered.
4. Defeat Emerald Weapon (a
few mastered Mime and Knights of the Round will be helpful) to receive
Earth Harp. Take it back to Kalm and give it to the old man to receive
Master Summon (Red), Master Magic (Green), and Master Command (Yellow)
Materia. These Materia can not level up or duplicate, but have all the
abilities of their single counterparts. Master Summon grants all Summons
for as long as MP are available. A similar effect is also used by Master
Magic. Master Command is a little difficult to work with, but is still
worth it.
5. Equip the new Materia
and ram into Ruby, who is minding its own business in Gold Saucer. With
luck, the single character Ruby allows to stay and fight will be ready
to deal with this massacre.
6. Defeat Ruby and take
Desert Rose to the man in Kalm to receive a Gold Chocobo. You probably
will already have one, as Knights Of The Round is required for the
Weapons battles. A good combo to use against the Weapons is HP Absorb +
Knights (mega damage and mega boost in HP).
Equip your character with a
Wizard Bracelet and for a weapon. Link a mastered Knights Of The Round or
Master Summon materia to an HP Absorb. Then, link a mastered Counter (not
Counter-Attack) to a Mime materia. Equip a mastered HP and MP Absorb, and
equip a mastered Final Attack to a level 2 or higher Revive materia. Equip
this on as many characters as you have the materia available. For Ruby
Weapon, you only need to equip it on one character and kill the other two.
The affect of this is if you cast Knights Of The Round at the beginning of
a battle, you can mime it every turn to absorb over 9999 HP. The game will
display a lower number, but you are really absorbing 9999 plus that
number. When you get hit, you will counter attack with Knights Of The
Round, absorbing any HP that you lost. Using this, you cannot lose unless
you get killed in one hit, or if the enemy is too fast for you to
counter-attack. If this happens the Final Attack + Revive will keep you in
the battle.
Materia:
5X-Cut Materia combo: There is a way to increase the 4X-Cut ability of a LV2 Double
Cut Materia. Since you cannot pair it with Support Materia, pair Master
Command with Added Cut, and equip a LV2/Mastered Double Cut in another
slot. When you use 4X-Cut in battle, your character will retreat, then
attack one more time. Any command used, even magic spells/summons/items
will get an extra attack afterwards. The only drawback is that Added Cut
will also affect curative magic or items, even when used on an himself, or
on another ally.
Defeating
Sephiroth: When you battle Sephiroth the first time, just use Knights of
the Round to immediately win. Even though one of his five parts does not
take any damage, he cannot live without it. When you battle the second
Sephiroth, use Knights of the Round, then Mime Knights of the Round. Now
have another character use Bahamut Zero. This should kill him. When you
fight the third Sephiroth, use Omnislash.(Cloud's Level 4 Limit). Even if
you only have the Level 3 Limits, the game will allow you to use it. After
this, Sephiroth will die for the final time.
For Sephiroth Bizzaro, use
Knights of the Round. On Safer Sephiroth, use De-Barrier then use Knights
Of The Round. On the last form, your limit should fill allowing you to use
OmniSlash.
When you are fighting
Sephiroth at the end of the game with only Cloud, if he is level 99 and
have Omnislash, one attack will kill him.
Defeating
Bizzaro Sephiroth: Cast one Mastered Knights Of The Round for a one hit Bizzaro
Sephiroth battle.
Before fighting Bizzaro
Sephiroth (after the last piece of Jenova), put the Slash All Materia on
your strongest attacker. That way, they can attack all five parts at once
and quickly eliminate him.
Defeating
Safer Sephiroth: A Mime materia and a mastered Knights Of The Round summon
materia is required for this trick. First, cast Knights Of The Round with
one character and then use mime with another character. Savior Sephiroth
should be defeated in those two hits.
You will need to have
W-Summon, Knights Of Round summon, Mime command, and Quadra Magic. Master
Knights Of Round. Equip this with Quadra Magic and W-Summon on Cloud.
Equip Mime on another character. This trick will have to be repeated if
the other character does not attack immediately after Cloud. Use W-Summon
Knights Of Round two times and he will use it eight times. Quadra Magic
must be at second level. Then, use Mime and your other character will use
it eight times.
Put the Enemy Skill Materia
(can be found in the Green Chocobo's stable at the Chocobo Sage's house)
on your best magic-using character. Put the Long Range Materia (found
after defeating the Materia Keeper in Mt. Nibel) on your best attacker.
When Sephiroth uses his Shadow Flare attack, whoever has the enemy skill
Materia will learn it. Then, cast it on him only when he floats up in the
air (to conserve MP). Make sure whoever you put the Long Range Materia on
does not already have a long range weapon (for example, Vincent or
Barret), or it would be pointless. Put it on your best attacker so that
they can damage him even when he is floating.
Have two characters in your
part have Mime, and the other with W-Summon connected to Quadra magic .
This will allow you to use any magic or summon six times in a row. Have
the two people with Mime use it, then have the last one use Knights Of The
Round on him. This will result in eighteen consecutive Knights Of The
Round hits. Heal your HP and MP, and repeat the summoning. Note: This will
not be an instant killer.
Defeating
Ultimate Sephiroth: After defeating Bizzaro Sephiroth, you probably will not have
much ammunition left unless you were wise and only used physical attacks,
healing items and limit breaks during that fight. Ultimate Sephiroth is
stronger, faster, and ultimately more powerful than his previous counter
parts. Cast Knights Of The Round summon just once and get another member
of the team to Mime it, making sure not to make any moves in-between
commanding that person to mime the action. If any members of your team are
injured, cure them with a Megalixer or some other healing potion before
the battle starts. Sephiroth will cast Shadow Flare or Pale Horse on one
of your team members. Do not worry about this and just continue the fight.
Attack him physically once, preferably with Cloud or Cid as they are the
strongest. Sephiroth should be defeated. Note: If you wait too long,
Sephiroth will cast Super Nova or Pale Horse.
Defeating
Gi Tribe Boss: The Gi Tribe Boss under Cosmo Canyon is an undead creature.
Cure items such as X-Potion or Phoenix Down work against him. Note:
Phoenix Downs can miss, but and X-Potions will always be effective.
Make sure that you have at
least 4 Phoenix Downs in stock. At the beginning of the fight, select a
Phoenix Down and use it on the Nattak himself, not his henchmen. It should
say instant death and he should die without a battle. If it misses, keep
trying.
When you fight Gi in Cosmo
Canyon cave, use a X-potion or Elixir To kill him instantly.
Hint:
Defeating Jenova Life: Equip one person in your party with a Dragon Armlet and Water
Ring. This will make Blue Light and Blue Flame do half the damage and
Aqualong cures that person.
Defeating:
Materia Keeper: When fighting the Materia Keeper, he will most likely kill all
of your other fighters first, leaving only Cloud. Cast Regen on Cloud and
keep using Cures to heal him after the Materia Keeper uses his strong
attacks such "Hell Combo" and "Trine". Cloud will fill
his Limit Break bar. Use the Limit Breaks and keep repeating until the
Materia Keeper has been defeated.
Defeating
the Midgar Zolom: Have Barret in your party with Fury on. The Midgar Zolom will
give him a Limit Break in one hit. Have Barret on the bottom of your menu
and all characters in the back row. Use the other characters to heal and
use Barret's first Limit Break as Mindblow. This will zap the Zolom's
magic, away rendering Beta useless. Also, if your characters have Sadness
level 26, Zolom will only do 900 damage at maximum with Beta. Beta is also
an Enemy Skill. Zap his energy, use Bio, and defeat him.
Defeating
Reno: To defeat Reno and his bodyguard (the Turks) when you fight
them for the first time, make sure that you heal all the time. Free your
trapped comrades from his "Pyramid". Defeat his bodyguard first,
then go after Reno.
Defeating
Ultimate Weapon: During Disc 3, find the Ultimate Weapon hovering over a lake.
Defeat it and it will retreat as before. If you happen to find it hovering
around the ocean, run in to it. This will make it find a new place to
destroy. Defeat it each time you see it hovering over one place. The final
battle with it will take place over Cosmo Canyon. After you defeat it
there, it will crash to the ground. This will give you access to the
Antiant Forest and Cloud's Ultimate Weapon.
Stealing
from Ultima Weapon: It will be useful if you have "Steal as Well" and
"Comet" (Comet2) Materia linked together, and the "Steal
Glove" accessory equipped. After defeating the Diamond Weapon who is
approaching Midgar, wait until the entire storyline finishes so that you
may control the Highwind Ship again. When you fly the ship, it is
important that you not go to Midgar or you will have to do this trick on
the Disc 3. Otherwise, you can wait later if you are not up stealing
Ultima's items. Fly the ship where there is a circle-like waterfall behind
Junon. Ultima Weapon is hovering over the waterfall. Engage in battle and
use Comet2 on Ultima. You will steal a Circlet accessory which upgrades
your Magic and Spirit by +30. You can only get it when Ultima is hovering
in battle. When he is on ground, you can steal Reflect Ring accessories.
If you are on the Highwind and encounter him when he is flying around,
bump into him five times; he will fly, then stop and charge up a blue
energy ball over the area he is at. Be careful that he does not stop over
Midgar or you will have to finish collecting his items on the Disc 3.
Note: When you encounter Ultima Weapon for the first time, you can steal a
Cursed Ring accessory which raises increases your status but it also
induces Death Sentence on yourself; it is best that you have "Added
Effect" and "Destruct" Materia linked together if you plan
on using it.
Defeating
Demons Gate: Physical Attacks work really well against this opponent,
especially if you have Cid equipped with Trident in your group.
Head
Hunters: To fight head hunters, go to the Mideel Forest and walk in the
dark grass.
Red
Gagighandi: Go to the Temple Of The Ancients and find the small dark area,
similar to what is around Midgar, near the beach. Walk around the area and
you will eventually encounter the Red Gagighandi.
Master
Tonberry's Everyone's Grudge attack: In the Northern Cave you will encounter an enemy called Master
Tonberry. His attack called Everyone's Grudge can appear very strong.
However, there is a pattern to it. For every enemy a character defeats,
Everyone's Grudge damage increases by 10. For example, if Cloud has killed
600 enemies, Everyone's Grudge will hit Cloud for 6000 HP. This pattern is
based on individual characters only.
Defeating
Ruby Weapon: Kill two members of your party before fighting Ruby Weapon.
Have the Summon Phoenix materia equipped on the remaining character, then
run into Ruby Weapon. When fighting, Ruby will only attack the live
character, and therefore not use the Quicksand attack. Wait until the
Weapon sticks his claws in the ground. Then, use Summon Phoenix to attack
it and revive the dead party members. All three party members are now
available for the battle.
Another strategy is to have
all characters equipped with the Final Attack + Revive or Phoenix materia
combination. Have one character equipped with a weapon or armor containing
Knights Of The Round + MP Turbo. Also have a Mastered Magic Plus materia
(not MP Plus) somewhere else in the weapon or armor of each character.
Have all three people wear the Mystile armor (first from Midgar Raid,
second from North Cave, third from Ultimate Weapon when it is over
Midgar). This will prevent Ruby's Ultima attack from injuring your
characters. Kill two characters, then enter the battle with Ruby Weapon.
When the Weapon's claws are in the ground, revive the two dead characters,
and have W-Summon cast Knights Of The Round and have the other two
characters Mime. This will hit Ruby Weapon for 9999 damage each time. It
should be defeated after eight to ten rounds of this type of attack.
Another strategy is to kill
two of your characters, then equip the following materia combination: HP
Absorb + Knights Of The Round, W-Summon, Mime. Use a Hero drink, then
summon the Knights Of The Round. Each time he/she will gain over 9,000 HP
points. Then, simply Mime this attack until the Weapon is defeated.
Another strategy is to use
Mime in addition to the Final Attack + Phoenix materia combination. Get
Cloud's limit bar full, and start the battle. Ruby will take your other
two characters away with Quicksand. Attack with Omnislash. At Cloud's next
turn, select Mimic and Cloud will use the Omnislash again. Repeat this
attack. The only drawback to this strategy, is the need for a little bit
in the limit meter. Without it, Cloud will jump forward after a brief
flash, and Ruby Weapon will attack. When Cloud does the limit, the game
will act as though you had a full limit bar, and delete all that remains
in it. To effectively make this trick work, make sure Ruby Weapon hits
Cloud before doing the Omnislash again.
Another strategy is to have
Cloud alive with maximum HP and MP while your other two characters are
dead. Have mastered Counter Materia (not Counter-Attack Materia) paired
with Mime; Knights Of The Round paired with HP Absorb; enough HP and
defense to avoid getting killed in one hit; a high Magic rating (200+);
and a Ribbon. Cast Knights of the Round and every time Cloud gets hit he
will counter with that attack. Cast Knights of the Round and then use Mime
as fast as possible.
Another slightly different
strategy is to get the following Materia for Cloud: Mastered Command
Counter paired with Mime (not the Counter-Attack Materia, . the Command
Counter is a blue Materia), Knights Of The Round paired with HP Absorb,
enough HP and defense, high magic rating (200+, best achieved with Magic
Plus mastered), a Ribbon, two Knights of the Rounds Summons, W-Summon,
Master Summon paired with MP Turbo (on different slots than the regular
Knights Of The Round slot). Before start the battle, intentionally kill
your other two party members. When you start the fight, simply cast
Knights of the Round (W-Summon or without) on Ruby Weapon. Every time
Cloud gets hit, he will automatically counter with Knights Of The Round
and regain HP.
Equip the Enhance Sword or
Ultimate Weapon, Mystile, and Ribbon on Cloud. Link a mastered Final
Attack to Revive, link Knights Of The Round to Hp Absorb, Hades to Added
Affect Magic Plus (if you have one), enough HP and MP Plusses to max out
those stats, and anything else all on Cloud if space permits. For the
other two characters, equip HP and MP Plusses, a Mime, and anything else.
Before the battle have Cloud kill the other two characters. Get in the
Highwind and fly into his Ruby Weapon's head sticking out of the desert by
Gold Saucer. As soon as you start he will plant his claws into the ground.
You should cast Hades straight away, this will stop him and his claws
allowing you to cast Knights Of The Round once and revive the other two
characters. As soon as it is Cloud's turn again, cast Hades and Ruby
Weapon will be stopped again. Cast King Of The Round and Mime once, then
cast Hades again and keep repeating until it is defeated.
Create a party of your
strongest characters. Equip them with the Mystile. Leave one character
alive, preferably Cloud. This character should have the best Materia.
He/she should have a Final Attack linked with Revive and a Mega-All each
at the Master level. When entering the battle, since only one character is
standing, Ruby will only use a physical attack then bury its stalks. Now,
cast Life 2. All your characters will be restored. Be careful, as at a
point in the battle Ruby Weapon will reveal her stalks and use her
Whirlsand attack. Knights of the Round is effective during this battle,
even though Ruby Weapon will counter with Ultima. You will have a 60%
chance of dodging it, due to the Mystile.
Note: This trick can be used
against Ruby or Emerald Weapon. Have Cait Sith go into battle with a limit
break, and make his level 2 limit, Slots, has been unlocked. Once in
battle, press Square (PlayStation version) when his slot reels
appear to slow them down and get the combination that instantly kills any
enemy. If done correctly, the Weapon will die.
Ruby Weapon can absorb almost
all types of magic.
This trick requires need
Cloud's Omnislash, W-Summon, Knights Of The Round, HP Absorb, and Mime.
Equip Mime, Knights Of The Round (with HP Absorb), and W-Summon on Cloud,
then get his Limit Break up. Kill both of the other party members then
save the game just before Ruby Weapon. Start the battle by attacking his
fingers with Omnislash. He will pull them back out, then put them back in.
Next, use Mime to use Omnislash again on his fingers. Repeat this one more
time. After he attacks you, use W-Summon and Knights Of The Round. You
have HP Absorb because when he attacks you will lose a lot of HP. After
summoning Knights Of The Round, you will gain your health back. After the
second summon, he will attack you again. Use mime and you will do Knights
Of The Round twice and regain health. Repeat this about four to five times
and Ruby Weapon will be defeated at about the seventh or eighth Knights Of
The Round attack.
This trick requires Final
Attack, Phoenix, Knights Of The Round, HP Absorb, W-Summon, Omnislash
(optional), and Mime (mastered at least once). Start the battle with Ruby
Weapon sticking his fingers in the ground. Once they are in, use Phoenix
to revive your other party members. Then, use Knights Of The Round
(W-Summon; with HP Absorb equipped together).Once it is done, use your
other characters that have Mime equipped to summon Knights Of The Round
(W-Summon) on Ruby Weapon. You will need Phoenix and Final Attack equipped
in case you die.
Fire and Elemental on your
armor both at Master can help, as Ruby Flame will heal you by about 2,000.
shields are a bit more of a necessity for this, as the two tentacles will
not be able to cause damage or status abnormalities through it. Keep at
him with Quadra Magic, Knights Of The Round, W-Magic combination. Also,
enemy skills are helpful. To be safe, have Revive and Final Attack both at
Master. If you keep your shield up and ignore the tentacles, Ruby Weapon
will be vulnerable to attack. Keep at him with Knights Of The Round and
also have an Omnislash ready before starting the fight. If you run out of
MP, another Knights Of The Round put with Mp Absorb will fix that. If this
is not possible put x4 Slash on and use it. However, it is well worth
obtaining some Turbo Ethers beforehand and Megalixers just keep your
shield up by checking status in the fight
Ruby
Weapon reward: After defeating Ruby, you will get the Desert Rose. Take this
to the Kalm traveler and you will receive a Gold Chocobo.
Defeating
Emerald Weapon: Equip a member of your party with a Gravity materia, at any
level. It will hit the Emerald Weapon for 9,999 damage. Using this and the
Quad-Magic combo can take almost 40,000 hit points from one attack round
alone.
Another strategy is to equip
the following materia combination: HP Absorb + Knights Of The Round,
W-summon, Mime, Underwater (and nothing else). Use a Hero drink, then
summon the Knights Of The Round. Each time he/she will gain over 9,000 HP
points. Then, simply Mime this attack until the Weapon is defeated. Keep
your materia number as low as possible -- the more materia equipped, the
more the Weapon's Air Tam Stomp will effect the party. For example, if
four materia are equipped the Air Tam Stomp will take off 4444 HP points,
five materia will result in 5555 HP points and so on.
Enter the battle against
Emerald Weapon and have a character equipped with a Gravity materia, and
all characters with a Reflect Ring. Cast Demi 3 onto your characters with
Quadra magic and W-Magic. Since each attack will hit with 9999 damage, a
total of about 40,000 damage will be done due to the Quadra Magic. With
the W-Magic, it will hit almost 80,000 damage. Finally, because it was
cast upon all three of characters and reflected, it will hit Emerald
Weapon a total of three times.
Place Cloud, Red XIII, and
Tifa in your party. Get their ultimate weapons and level 4 limit breaks.
Build them to level 85 to 90. Equip Knights Of The Round and MP Absorb on
Cloud, Phoenix-Final Revive on Red XIII and Full Cure, Comet and some HP
pluses on Tifa. Build their limit to full. Run into Emerald Weapon with
the submarine and have Cloud use Omnishlash and every one else use their
limit breaks. Cast Knights Of The Round, and if you are low on HP, cast
Full Cure. Emerald Weapon has approximately 700,000 HP.
First, go to the forest
outside the burnt Mako reactor and fight some Frogs. Use Mini on them and
then Manipulate them. Get them to make the last two digits of your life on
all characters to "77". However, this life total must be below
7777. Heal yourself so as your life totals on each of your three
characters equals 7777. Equip one of your characters with W-Summon and
Knights of the Round. Equip everyone with Mime materia. Fight Emerald
Weapon, and at the beginning each character should hit Emerald up for 7777
for a long time. Just have one character cast Knights of the Round twice
and then have the other two characters Mime that. After six Knights of the
Round summons, Emerald Weapon be defeated. That way, only one character
takes about 6000 damage and nobody else takes any damage.
When fighting the Emerald
Weapon, make sure one of your characters has only two materia equiped and
has 9999 HP. When Emerald Weapon attacks with it's Air Tam Storm attack
(which does 1111 damage for each materia equiped to that character), it
will result in 2222 damage to that character, leaving him/her with 7777 HP
and the Lucky 7777 bonus.
Get the Final Attack materia
from the Battle Arena at Gold Saucer and win the special battle
(accessible when Cloud has both the Level 4 Limit Break
"Omnislash" and W-Summon materia). Link the Final Attack to the
Phoenix summon materia. When that character dies, it will revive him/her
and any other fallen allies. This is very useful in countering Emerald
Weapon's attack if it does 9999 damage to all your characters.
Emerald Weapon has 1,000,000
HP.
Emerald Weapon's beam attacks
are magic based. If you cast Wall you can cut his beam attacks in half and
also reduce the damage from his stomp attacks.
Use Vincent's third Limit
Break (Hellmasker). The Nightmare attack it uses will sometimes cast Stop
on Emerald.
Have Cait Sith with his Slots
limit break. Save the game just before you fight him with Cait Sith's
limit bar full. Start the battle and use the Slots limit break until it
ends up with something that resembles Cait Sith. Use it on Emerald Weapon
to defeat it with one hit.
First, equip the best of all
equipment that you have. It does not matter if you can get AP with it or
not. Then, equip an HP Plus Materia to each of your characters so that you
have 9999 HP on them. Then, equip some sort of curing Materia to each one.
Note: Only equip one of each. When the battle begins, use lots of defense
and all the curing spells you need. Just survive for awhile with your
Limit Breaks. Eventually, Emerald Weapon will attack with a skill that
does 1111 damage for each piece of Materia you have equipped. When this
happens because your party was at full HP when they will now have 7777 HP
and will be able to do the lucky sevens attacks.
This requires the Underwater
Materia, Mime, Knights Of The Round, HP Absorb and a few Mastered HP Plus
(as many as needed to get 9m999 HP). On one character, put Mime and all
the HP Plus. On another character, put Knights Of The Round and in an
attached slot, put HP Absorb. On your last character, put the Underwater
Materia. Start with Knights Of The Round, then Mime it for the remainder
of the fight. Make sure that the character with Mime does not have more
then five Materias equipped because Emerald has an attack that deals 1111
times the amount of Materia, it is usually used immediately after another
attack. Using Knights of the Round with HP Absorb should allow your
character to heal about 8,000 HP each time he or she uses it. Just
continue miming and make sure never to use other attacks and this fight
should be easy. Afterwards, bring the Earth Harp to the man in Kalm to
receive a full set of Master Materia.
Notice that as your health
deteriorates, so does the attack power of the Cloud's blade. Use Gravity +
Elemental Materia both at Master on your weapon. This can be a great help,
as even if your health is low you can still do a hefty chunk of damage as
well. Revive + Final Attack, and the enemy skills Angel Whisper, White
Wind, and Big Guard are also useful, as well as Knights Of The Round and
Counter Magic. Keep hammering away until he dies (this is all assuming you
have the Underwater Materia).
Emerald
Weapon: Aire Tam attack: Emerald Weapon's "Aire Tam" Storm attack is
"Materia" spelled backwards. This is also a clue to how it hurts
your characters. The more Materia you have, the higher the damage. For
example, if you have four Materia orbs on Cloud then the "Aire
Tam" Storm will hit for 4444 points of damage.
Emerald
Weapon reward: After defeating Emerald Weapon, you will get the Earth Harp.
Take this to the Kalm traveler to receive master Summon, Magic, and master
Command.
Temple
Of Ancients Boss: Aeris and Odin: While in the Temple Of Ancients with Aeris, equip Odin on her.
If you are facing the Boss, then equip it on another character. Doing this
doing will result in a Steel Bladed Sword (Odin's best attack that
automatically kills enemies if it hits them) in every normal battle.
Materia:
Good combinations:
Cover + Counter + Elemental
with either Fire, Ice, Bolt, or Earth. Effect: Character covers for
teammate and counter-attacks with an elemental attack.
Quadra magic + Bahamaut
ZERO. Note: This does work with Knights Of The Round. Effect: Casts a
summon four times in one turn.
Final Attack + Phoenix
summon. Effect: When character dies he immediately casts Phoenix and is
revived.
MP Turbo + Knights Of The
Round, Effect: Increases damage from 80,000 to 129,987 AP.
Sneak Attack + any Barrier
or Haste. Start battle by immediately casting whatever you linked it
with.
Mime. Effect: Mimics attack
preceding it. Especially useful when it follows Bahamaut ZERO or Knights
Of The Round.
Cover, Counter (usually 3),
Counter Magic + Bahamut Zero, Command Counter + Deathblow (Works best
with Cloud). Effect: Cloud takes the hit for teammate, counter attacks
three or more times, does a Deathblow attack, and casts Bahamut Zero;
all without using a combat round. Also, if the first enemy dies when
Cloud counter-attacks, he moves on to the next target.
Equip Cloud with his
Ultimate Weapon and the Mystile armor. Equip Counter + Counter, Counter
+ Counter, (command) Counter + Deathblow, Added Effect-Hades on the
weapon. Equip HP/MP Absorb-Master command, (Blue Materia) + Double Cut
on the armor. Effect: Cloud will counter attack five times ending with a
deathblow taking on some (if not all) of the effects of Hades. If your
opponents have not already been killed, choose to attack to take some of
their HP. If the Double Cut materia is mastered and Cloud's HP is nearly
full, he can gain up to 3996 HP points.
Materia:
Regular damage while using Morph: Find Yuffie's Conformer weapon on the Gelnika (Disc 2/3). Equip
it and the Morph materia on her. Have Yuffie morph something in combat.
Instead of causing 1/8th of normal damage, her Morph attack will causes
regular damage, which speeds up the morphing process.
Unlimited
battles: Go to the part in Disc 1 immediately after you jump off the
train at the start of the second mission. Instead of walking forward and
going down into the vent at the end of the tunnel, keep walking backwards
about six screens until you reach a door guarded by two Shinra guards.
Cloud will tell you to run away, but you can still go forward and fight
them. After you defeat them, two more appear and this will repeat. You can
leave at any time by selecting "Run" when Cloud defeats someone.
