Aeris:
Getting a date with her: Never talk to Tifa unless it is vital for progression for the
game. Then, she will ask for a date when at the hotel in Gold Saucer.
Aeris:
Ghost: Sometimes when you walk into the church in Midgar, Aeris's
ghost may appear in between the two kids. She flashes in her position very
quickly, then disappears.
If you get the Key to Sector
5 and enter the church for the first time, Aeris' ghost will be there and
will not disappear until you walk towards the entrance. Note that the
children's lines are different for the two different situations. The first
time, one of the kids says "...I think I'll water them a
little." But after the first time she will always say "Hey!
Where's the flower lady?"
Aeris:
Limit Break: Enter the port city on the new continent with the Buggy. Go to
the boat and talk to the man on the dock. Tell him that you want to ride
to Junon. In Junon, on the first panel a man will be standing in the
street. Tell him that you want to go outside of Junon. You will now be
outside Junon in the buggy. Drive across the shallows in the river and
enter the cave. Talk to the sleeping man, and if you have fought a certain
number of battles you get Mythril. Bring this to the man who will give you
information on the item you need to get into the Temple Of The Ancients.
Barret:
Getting a date with him: Never talk to Aeris or Tifa unless it is vital for progression
for the game. Once Kalm is entered for the first time, Barret will ask
Cloud for a date.
Barret:
Ultimate weapon attack: Get the Underwater Materia and raise it to about 100,000 AP.
Since it does not grow any levels or gets mastered, you can raise it to as
much AP as you want. Equip it on Barret, and you will have the max attack
with him. Barret's ultimate weapon depends on how much AP is equipped on
the weapon.
Barret:
Shooting boxing glove: Get Barret's Rocket Punch and Ungermax limit. Use the limit
with Rocket Punch and the glove will shoot bullets.
Cait
Sith: History: In Final Fantasy 4 there is an enemy called Cait Sith,
but in Final Fantasy 7 Cait Sith is your ally. Cait Sith is a
robotic toy controlled by a man from the Shin-Ra company.
Cloud:
Fourth Limit Break: Get 32,000 battle points in the battle arena at Gold Saucer.
Cloud:
Mercenary flashback: After Cloud has had his coma, go to the basement at the Shinra
Mansion. Enter the library and Cloud have a flashback and remember how he
became a mercenary.
Cloud:
Extra memory flashback: After you learn that Cloud is a clone, go to Nibelhiem and go
to the basement at the Shinra Mansion to see what happened to Zack.
Cloud:
Best weapon: To get Cloud's best weapon you have to find Ultimate Weapon.
Defeat it and it will start to fly away. Follow it, and when it stops
fight it again. Keep repeating this and after a few fights it should go to
Cosmo Canyon. Fight and finally defeat it once and for all to get Ultima
Weapon. You can now also enter the Ancient Forest. Note: This only works
on Disc 3.
Cloud:
Battle strategies: When you get a Mega All Materia and Ultima Weapon, attach these
to Cloud. Also use Deathblow Materia and Master Magic Materia. You now
have three ways of winning a battle. Deathblow-All to hit all monsters
with Deathblow; Normal Attack-All to hit all monsters with approximately
9999 points of damage; or the top few magic in Master Magic hit all
enemies.
Cloud:
Get selected by Don Corneo: Go to the Wall Market restaurant before you get the dress.
Order the "Today's Special" and when he asks if you liked it,
reply "....". You will get the Pharmacy Coupon. Go to the
pharmacy. Get the Digestive. Give it to the man throwing up in the bar
bathroom. He will give you the Sexy Cologne. Go to the item shop -- not
the broken one, but the one above the man cooking. He will ask you to get
something out of the vending machine at the Inn. Stay at the inn and buy
the most expensive item from the machine. Give it to him and to get the
Diamond Tiara. Next, go to the dress shop and talk to the sales girl.
Shell tell you about her father's drinking problem. Go to the bar and talk
to the man on the right. He will speak for a moment. When he asks you what
you want, pick the second options (shimmers and soft). Go to the dress
store. You will get the Silk Dress. Then, go to the gym as you are
supposed to. Beat the beautiful bro in the squats contest. You will get
the Blonde Wig. Go to the dress shop and Cloud will change. Go to Corneo's
mansion. He will speak and pick Cloud. Note: If this is done you cannot
get the items in the other room.
Scarlet:
See through dress: After you get the Highwind and listen to Rufus' meeting, when
Scarlet talks, you can see through part of her dress near her hips.
Tifa:
Getting a date with her: Never talk to Aeris unless it is vital for progression of the
game. Cloud will get a date with Tifa before Aeris dies.
Tifa:
Final Heaven Limit Break: Play the piano in Nibelhiem (after you find Cloud). Play this
song on the PlayStation version: X, Square, Triangle,
L1 + Triangle, L1 + Square, X, Square,
Triangle, L1 + X, Circle, X, Square,
X. After you do this, Final Heaven will appear from the song notes.
Note: You must have Beat Rush, Somersault, Waterkick, Meteodrive, Dolphin
Blow, and Meteor Strike Limit Breaks before using Final Heaven on Tifa.
On the PC version, press the
following keys: [Cancel], [Switch], [Plus], 9
+ [Plus], 9 + [Delete], [Insert], [Delete],
[Plus], 9 + [Insert], [Enter], [Insert],
[Delete], [Insert]. Note: You must play this at a consistent
pace or it will not work.
Vincent:
Getting him in the party: Take the key from the safe that contained the Odin summoning
materia in Nibelheim. The combination to the safe is right 36, left 10,
right 59, right 97. After defeating the Boss, Lost Number, walk down into
the basement. Open the door that was previously locked (right before enter
the room with Sephiroth). Talk with Vincent, after finding him inside the
purple coffin. When leaving the room, he will offer to join the party.
Yuffie:
Getting her in the party: Yuffie can found in a random encounter in one of the forest
areas. After fighting her, do not pause or use the save point. Talk to her
and answer her questions with the following responses.
Yuffie: "You
spikey-headed jerk! One more time, let's go one more time!"
Answer: Not interested.
Yuffie: "You're pretty
scared of me, huh?"
Answer: ......petrified
Yuffie: "I'm really
gonna leave!REALLY!"
Answer:Wait a second!
Yuffie: "You want me
to go with you?"
Answer: ......That's right.
Yuffie: "All right!
I'll go with you!"
Answer: ......Let's hurry on.
Yuffie:
Getting a date with her: Do not use Tifa or Aeris for the entire game. Eventually,
Yuffie will ask Cloud out for a date.
Ride
on a Chocobo with Tifa or Cid: Race enough times with either Cid or Tifa in your party.
Eventually, one of them will ask to ride.
Easy
experience and AP: After getting Tiny Bronco, go to the Mideel area. Dock the
plane and get into a fight with the enemies in the area. Most of the time
you will encounter enemies called Spirals that appear in packs of two or
three. These enemies have about 2800 HP each, but can be killed easily
with Odin. This results in a large amount of EXP and AP, since their
levels are high.
On Disc 3, go to the crater
where Sephiroth is hiding. When you get to the part with the left and
right path, follow the left path. On the first screen upon entering the
left path will be three ways to proceed. Follow the path to the right. You
should now be in a room with many of root-type objects and water. Its
recommended that you use the Save Crystal here. Fight here until you
encounter three little red balls called Movers. They only appear in sets
of three. When you kill them, you get no EXP but 2400 AP. With Triple
Growth, this is worth 7200 AP per fight. They also give about 170,000 Gil.
In the same area, you can also find Magic Pots. They will ask for Elixirs.
Give them one. Each Magic Pot will give you about 8,000 EXP. 1,000 AP, and
some Gil.
Easy
experience: Note: This trick only works in the Temple Of The Ancients
during Disc 1, immediately after defeating the red dragon and gain the
"Bahamut" materia. After defeating the red dragon, leave the
room where you encountered Sephitroth (the room with all the pictures on
the wall and the object labeled "Black Materia" that shakes the
entire place). Talk to the Ancient Spirit body and select "Rest"
from the menu. After this, talk to it again and select "Save" --
you will need to do this often. After you rest and save, be sure you have
the "Bahamut" materia equipped with one of your characters.
Reenter the room where you fought the red dragon. Run around briefly until
you get into a fight. You will either encounter two flying dragons, 3
flying dragons, 1 bull-dog/dragon/horse, or a bulldog/dragon/horse on
either side of you. Cast the "Summon Bahamut" spell and then
attack with normal attack to finish off any survivors. Every creature you
encounter in the room is weak against Bahamut. It is very easy to gain
levels since each fight gives you around 2000 experience points. After you
fight in the room a couple of times, exit and talk to the Spirit body.
Then rest and save and reenter the room. Repeat this until enough levels
are gained.
At the beginning of the game,
go to Nibel mountain. Fight the weak monsters and try to avoid the
dragons.
Use the Tiny Bronco or the
Highwind and go directly below Mideel to find an island with little bit of
grass and lots of wasteland. Park the Highwind or Tiny Bronco on the
grass. Land and fight in the grass. You should fight three to four
Headhunters. Press Select to see if they are your enemies. Finish
the fight and you should get 2,600 experience points if you fought four,
or 2,200 experience points if you fought three.
When in the Shinra Building
on the 60th floor, intentionally get caught by the guards (if you chose to
sneak in). Alternately, just charge in.
Easy
character stat increase: In the downed Shinra Gelinka, the enemies will give stat up
items when morphed. Evil Raps will give a Luck Source, Pudoleas will give
a Speed Source, Serpents will give a Mind Source, Unknown 1s will give a
Power Source, Unknown 2s will give a Guard Source, and Unknown 3s will
give a Magic Source. By morphing these enemies, you will easily be able to
make yourself incredibly strong.
Easy
AP and Gil: Go to the Northern Cave. Keep going down and when you reach the
intersection where there are two ways to go, take the route to the left.
Enter the first room find to reach a swamp-like area. Wander around and
you will eventually fight three orange little balls called
"Movers". Defeating these monsters will give you 2400 AP and
90,000 Gil total.
Go to the Northern Cave. Keep
going down and when you reach the intersection where there are two ways to
go, take the route to the left then go down into the path along the right
side of the wall. You should be in what appears to be a swamp. Run around
until you encounter a Master Tornberry. Cast Stop on it, then steal an
Elixir from it . Walk around in the same room until you fight a Magic Pot.
Give it an Elixir and kill it to receive 8000 experience,1000 AP, and a
lot of Gil. Keep repeating this as desired. There is also another enemy in
the same room that gives you a lot of AP. They are small red balls
(usually in groups of four ) that are weak. When killed, they give 2450 AP
and lots of Gil. This trick best works with Exp Plus, Gil Plus, Mime, high
level (above 65 ), and lots of HP and MP.
Use the Highwind to go to
Mideel's beach. You will find a lot of Sea Worms there. They are very easy
to kill for 2000 experience, 200 AP, and 5000 Gil.
When you get the Tiny Bronco,
go back to the marsh where the giant snake is located and fight it. Make
sure you have Kjata and 50 Ethers. When you fight him, use Kjata every
time and the damage will be about 3,000 to 3,500 and result in a one hit
kill. This will give you at least 500 Gil and 250 AP.
Easy
AP: Use the "Unlimited items" trick to obtain a large
amount Elixirs. Then, use theElixir on the Magic Pot in the Northern
Crater and kill it. You cannot hurt the Magic Pot without using the
Elixir. You can find this monster by going to the first path to the left,
and then the upper path on a place with some kind of strange vegetation.
You should gain 1000 AP for every Magic Pot that is defeated.
In order to get 2400 AP in
one normal battle, go to the Crater. In the part of the crater with water
and root-like plants will be a trio of monsters that look like Summon
materia orbs bouncing up and down. They are called Movers. They are an
easy kill, but the battle gives no experience.
Note: This trick requires a
controller with an auto-fire feature. Go to Mideel in the southeast. Leave
the Highwind at one end of the island and go to the other side. Hold Left
(with a rubber band) and set L1 and Circle to auto-fire. You
should automatically get between 100 and 320 AP a match. Note: Junction
final Attack with Phoenix to become almost un-killable. Also, use weapons
with Triple Growth to get 900 AP a fight.
Go to one of the two the
areas in North Crater that feature plant roots (tan vine-like things).
Fight until encounter the small red bouncing balls called Movers. Kill
them to get about 2400 AP in a single battle.
Easy
Gil: Go slightly south of Wutai (Yuffie's Home Town) to find a beach
where you can fight huge turtles with horns. Each one results in 2,000
Gil, 720 EXP, and 100 AP.
Sell a Master level All
Materia to get 1.4 million Gil. Since another All Materia will appear when
the original reaches master level, there will be no loss in usefulness.
Fight an Epiolnis (the
multi-colored bird) in the Ancient Forest. Steal a Wizard Bracelet from
it, and sell it for 12,000 Gil.
When at the Gold Saucer
Prison, go out in the desert and fight a enemy called Cactuar. Defeat him
to get 10,000 Gil. This creature can also be found at Cactuar Island on
the south-east area of the map, or south of Cosmo Canyon.
Get the Gil Plus Materia at
Wonder Square for 1,000 GP. Equip it, then fight a Sea Worm on the beach
near Mideel. If you win you will get 10,000 Gil instead of the normal
5,000 Gil.
After you get the Buggy, go
to the Gold Saucer. Go to the Chocobo race. Register a very fast Chocobo.
Race and finish in first place to get a good item. You will be prompted
for "Item Or Gil". If the item is an Elixir or something other
good uten that you all ready have or can duplicate, you will get around
3000 Gil every time.
Go to the Desert Prison and
fight the Cactor. They give 10,000 Gil every time.
Use the "Unlimited
items" trick to duplicate Ethers or Turbo Ethers. Do this until you
have 99 Ethers or Turbo Ethers and take them to a shop. Sell 98 of them
and collect the money. Use the remaining item to repeat the process.
Buy two or three Chocho
Sylkis Greens from the Chochobo Sage (northeast beyond the Bone Village).
Go to Midgar and get into a fight with the harmless enemies there. Use the
"Unlimited items" trick on the Sylkis Greens and make them reach
99. After that, go to any town and enter one of the stores. Sell each
Sylkis Green for 2500. Selling 99 Sylkis Greens will result in 247500 Gil.
Do not sell more than 97, so you can repeat the trick.
Gaining
Limit Breaks:
Level 1-1: Use Limit Break
8 times.
Level 1-2: Kill 80 enemies.
Level 2-1: Use Limit Break 8 times.
Level 2-2: Kill 80 enemies.
Level 3-1: Use Limit Break 8 times.
Level3-2: Use Item to gain Level 4 Limit Break
Quicker
Limit Breaks: Use a Hyper on the character that you want to a limit. Having
"Fury" status makes the limit bar fill twice as much from an
attack than normal. However, the character will take more damage.
Use a Hyper on your entire
party. Use the Laser enemy skill on your team members to make your Limit
Break go to full. This works best if your members have 9999 HP and 999 MP.
Laser only takes away half of your HP and will never kill your characters.
You can also use this with the Dragon Force enemy skill to have your Magic
Attack and Defense will rise.
Use the following trick when
you get a strong Limit Break such as Omnislash or Cosmo Memory and are
fighting a strong Boss, like Weapons. If you have a Limit Break ready and
Mimic Materia equipped on a character, use it to get a continuous chain of
limits (if you do not do anything else). In other words, use a Limit
Break, wait for that character's turn again, then use Mimic and the Limit
Break will be done again.
You must have over 9000 HP
(9999 recommended) and the White Wind enemy skill for this trick. Go to
the Northern Crater and encounter a Tonberry. Attacking it and it will use
Everyone's Grudge, which will quickly fill up your Limit Break bar. You
can easily heal yourself by using White Wind. This is extremely helpful
when trying to get the level 4 Limit Breaks.
Easy
Limit Break gain: Every other Limit Break requires 60 enemies to be killed by a
character to gain a new Limit Break. The quickest way to achieve this is
to go to the Junon area after acquiring the enemy-skill Trine from the
Materia Keeper or a Fire, Ice, Lightning 2-All Materia. Walk around in the
forest areas, and occasionally an enemy called Capparwire will appear.
These enemies usually come in packs of five, and are easily killed by a
strong Materia.
When you get the Tiny Bronco,
return to where the snake is, with Aeris and two others in your party. The
snake will get your limit gauge filled easily. Use Aeris' Fury Brand limit
to fill the other two characters' limit, and use them on the snake. Save
your game before the marshy area. If the character has the first limit of
the level he is set on, use this limit six or seven times to get the other
limit. If the character has the second limit of the level he is set on, go
to a place with a lot of enemies to fight in a battle, such as the
mountains in the Wutaï area. Defeat 30 to 40 enemies with a character to
get the first limit of the next level. Then, return to the snake with
Aeris to get the second limit of the level you are set on. In a couple of
hours, you should have all the Limit Breaks up to level 3.
Equip the character you want
to gain a Limit Break with a HP -> MP Materia and a Master Cover
Materia. Go to an area that has weak monsters, such as the Chocobo Ranch
area or outside of Mideel. During the battle, keep the character's health
up. Before long, he or she will have a Limit Break. Repeat this process
until you have a new limit. Note: It works best if you have some Mastered
MP Plus, so your health is 999.
When going from Sector 5 to
Sector 7 there are enemies called Whole Eaters that usually appear in
groups of four. Use a Hyper on your party and enter a battle. If you have
the patience, you can usually get off four limits in one battle.
Use the following trick to
get Cloud and Barret to learn their level 2 Limit Breaks very early in the
game. After Cloud, Tifa, and Barret jump off the Midgar train, go south.
You will see two Shinra Soldiers. Choose to fight them as many times as it
takes to get Cloud and Barret's levels to about 14 or 15. These opponents
give up the most experience at this point of the game. Notice that Cloud
will learn his level 2 Limit Break, Blade Beam, instead of his second
level 1 Limit Break, Cross-Slash. Barret will learn his level 2 Limit
Break, Grenade Bomb, instead of his second level 1 Limit Break, Mindblow.
Note: This trick does not work on Tifa.
Unlimited
Limit Breaks: Get your Limit Break meter all the way up, then equip the Mime
Materia on that person. Enter a battle and use your Limit Break. Press Triangle
to pass by your allies' turns. When it gets to your turn again, use Mime
and you will perform the same Limit Break again. You can do this as many
times as desired or until the battle is over.
Best
way to Steal: This trick requires only two Materias, Steal and Comet (leveled
up to Comet 2). Attach Steal and Comet together. During a battle, if you
want to steal something that is important to you, use the Comet 2 spell.
Each Comet will be the same as one Steal. If there are a good amount of
comets, you should be able to steal what you need before the enemy dies.
Use this wisely.
Give a character Sneak Glove.
Also give that Character steal as well Materia combined with Comet Materia
(level 2 or higher) and a Mime Materia. Give the other two characters a
Mime Materia. Begin a battle. Use Comet 2 to hit the enemies multiple
times, attempting to Steal each time. The Sneak Glove will allow the
character to steal easier. If this does not work, the other characters can
Mime it repeatedly until it does. You may also want to throw in a
Steal/Quadra Magic. The downside is that most enemies cannot withstand a
lot of Comet 2 attacks.
Items Hints
Unlimited
items: This trick requires the W-Item materia. The materia is obtained
after your party parachutes back into Midgar in Disc 2. After entering the
subway tunnels in Sector 8, your party may walk away from the screen and
encounter the Turks, or walk towards the screen to reach another subway
section. Select the second choice and follow the subway tunnel until it
ends at a dead end with the W-Item materia.
Equip the materia on the
character with the item to be duplicated. When a battle begins, select the
W-Item entry on the battle menu, select the item to be duplicated, then
select any other item. Cancel that item, then choose another item, then
cancel it as well. Every time you cancel the second item, the one that was
initially chosen will increase by one.. Note: This will only duplicate
item selectable in battle and can not be used to duplicate the various
sources, materia, weapons, or armor. However, you must already own two or
more of a battle selectable item.
Use the following trick to
duplicate an item that you only have one of, and it can be a battle usable
item. You must have the W-Item materia and have it equipped to any
character. Get into a battle. Select the W-Item command and then select
any item you want to be duplicated which you have one in value of (for
example, an Elixir). Then, select the character to use it on. You now have
a second choice of an item to use. Instead of selecting the same item like
in the original trick, select a different item (for example, a Remedy).
Then, instead of selecting the character to use it on, back out once to
the item selection screen. You will then notice you have one more of the
Elixir (or the first item you selected) instead of the empty slot after
you selected the item you only had one of. Select the remedy again and
back out and you will have another of the Elixir (or the first item
selected). Keep repeating this to get as many of any item as needed.
Missed
items: If you have missed collecting any items throughout the game,
they can usually be fond in Disc 3. Go to Bone Village and dig to find
weapons, materia, and armor.
Extra
accessories: Mug each of the Turks when you fight them for the final time on
Disc 2. They have some of the best accessories in the game including the
Tough Ring that Sephiroth has in the flashback.
Atomic
Scissors: To get Barret's Atomic Scissors, walk around just outside of
Midgar until you encounter an enemy named Custom Sweeper. Use Steal on it
to get the Atomic Scissors. Note: It may be a good idea to steal a few of
these early in the game, as you can sell them for 700 gil each.
Behemoth
Horn: During the second visit to Shinra Tower, when in front of the
building take the stairs that are over on the left. While going up the
stairs you should be able to find the Behemoth Horn, one of Red XII's
weapons.
Circlet: Mug Ultimate Weapon during the battle on Disc 3 to get the
Circlet, which is an accessory which results in Magic and Spirit +30.
In Great Glacier, there is a
monster called Snow. Mug it to get a Circlet. You can also fight this
monster in Gold Saucer's Battle Arena. Additionally, If you Mug a Ho-chu
in Gold Saucer's Battle Arena, you can also get a Circlet.
Sprint
Shoes: When you go to Gold Saucer, probably after you get the Buggy,
go to the Battle Area. Talk to the woman at the foot of the stairs. Then,
fight in the Battle Arena. Win all eight handicaps and go back down the
stairs. Talk to the lady again. If done correctly, she should say "I
saw you battle all eight handicaps" and give you the Sprint Shoes.
This item automatically sets up Haste on the character on which it is
equipped.
Earn the Champion Belt at the
Battle Square put it on Cloud. Note: This trick only works if you have
already told the lady outside of Battle Square "you fight". Talk
to the lady after you have the Champion Belt and she will give you the
Sprint Shoes.
Magic
Shuriken: To get Yuffie's Magic Shuriken weapon, go to Godo's House in
Wutai. Walk into the guest room (the place where you can rest). You should
see a white sign at the bottom left corner of the room. Go up to it and
press Action. The sign will open up, and you will find a chest with
the Magic Shuriken.
Mythril
Staff: Aeris' Mythril Staff can be stolen from the Chariot (or a thing
that resembles one) in the train graveyard.
Hardedge: Cloud's Hardedge can be stolen from the Elite Soldier in the
Shinra tower in Midgar.
Carbon
Bangles: The Carbon Bangles can be stolen from a creature in the Shinra
tower that resembles a robot on a roller ball with blades.
Grand
Glove: Tifa's Grand Glove can be stolen from the Madouge B in the
caves outside of the Chocobo Ranch.
Gold
Armlets: The Gold Armlets can be stolen from Dragons in the caves past
Costa Del Sol.
Megalixer: While visiting the Kalm Inn at any point in the game, there is
a brown dresser-type object in the bottom left corner of the screen
(upstairs). If you go up to it and try to open it, there will be an item
in it. However, Cloud will say something along the lines of "Can't
reach it." Do this several times, and eventually Cloud will say
"Damn it!!" and kick the dresser, causing the Megalixer to fall
into your hands.
Orthopedic
Underwear: When in the "Cloud's Past" sequence shortly after
leaving Midgar, go to Tifa's house and examine the closet in her room. It
is located in the upper right of the room. You will receive the Orthopedic
Underwear, and Tifa will get upset.
Rising
Sun: To get Yuffie's Rising Sun weapon, Steal or Mug it from Diamond
Weapon.
Striking
Staff: Once you are past Don Corneo's mansion and get through the
sewer and go to the trains area, keep walking around in circles until you
find a monster that is a white machine riding on top on a brown beast with
wheels for its legs. Keep using the Steal command until you get the
Striking Staff to equip on Aeris. Note: You must equip a Steal Materia to
your allies before doing this.
Sylkis
Greens: Have W-Item and two Sylkis Greens (can be bought from the
sage). You also must be fighting a Chocobo, or at least have one in
battle. It does not matter if it escapes. Use the character that has
W-Item, and as the first selection choose "Sylkis Green" and use
it on anybody. Then, choose another Sylkis Green as the second choice, but
when it says to choose the person to use it on, press X. Then,
press Circle, then X, then Circle, then X
repeatedly. You will gain one Sylkis Green for every Circle, X
cycle. Once you have 99 of them, you can either sell them for about
250,000 gil, or use them on your Chocobos. You can keep doing this, and
lose only about 10,000 gil in all.
Exchange
Gil for GP: When at Gold Saucer go through the welcome sign then come back
out again. Keep on doing this until a man appears in the far background,
near the save location. Approach him, and he will ask if you want to
change Gil into GP. Answer yes to trade up to 10,000 Gil for 100 GP.
Saving
Gil early in the game: When you are about to fight H0512, where you first meet Red XII
and rescue Aeris at the Shinra tower, you can save a lot of Gil, as money
is tight at the beginning of the game. Have your Steal Materia equipped
(recommended on Tifa), and walk around where first see Jenova. There you
can fight Moth Slasher (big robot with spikes) and steal Carbon Bangles
(five to eight recommended) and also fight the Soldier: 3rd (normal guy)
to steal the Hardedge (three to four recommended) and equip as soon as you
can. You will save alot of Gil. The Hardedge is 1500, and you can make 750
for each extra one. Carbon Bangles are 800 Gil each (sold for 400). It is
difficult to steal what you want at first, however weaken the enemy and be
patient. Send the other characters in the back row and make them guard.
Exchange
the Highwind for the Tiny Bronco: Get the item Super Sweeper from the roller coaster game in the
Gold Saucer. Note: You must do this before you lose Cloud temporarily. Go
to Fort Condor, and give the Super Sweeper to the old man there. He will
then give you the Tiny Bronco. Note: the Tiny Bronco does fly.
Key
to Sector 5: Late in the game, go to the Number 7 gate at Midgar. A man
outside the door will say that he lost his key to the city at an
excavation site. The only excavation site is at Bone Village. Go there and
talk to the man that asks about what you are searching. Reply "normal
treasure" and place your excavators on the upper area. Eventually, a
box will turn up after multiple digs. Search it in the morning to find the
key.
The Sector 5 Key found at
Bone Village is not on the X, it is directly underneath the plane. There
is small dark spot at that location.
Key
to the City Of The Ancients: Start next to Junon Port and enter the submarine. Go forward
until you can dive underwater. Once underwater, go forward until you can
turn to the right into a crack. A fork will appear in the path. Stay to
the right to reach a cave. Go through the cave and you will find to the
key to the City Of The Ancients.
Hidden
armor in Rocket Town: Go to Rocket Town during Disc 3 and visit the weapon shop.
Enter the weapons dealer's bedroom to find a treasure box that was not
there previously. Open it to receive the Fourth Bracelet. This piece of
armor has five Materia slots (four linked and one unlinked), 74 damage
protection, and normal Materia growth.
Hidden
Ribbon in Gaea cliffs: In one of the rooms (with a large green mass at the bottom
right of the screen under the thin piece of land), when you first enter,
you will curve around until you are walking down an iced path. There will
be one door and a small stairway leading down. Go down and walk into the
curved wall. You will enter a room. Go into the next room that is all blue
with the bridge linking both sides. A chest with a Ribbon is located to
the far right of the bridge (walk through the wall) .
Hidden
items on railway bridge: There are two hidden items at the location where you press a
lever to lower the railway bridge, on the rail track that connects Mt.
Corel and Corel village. On the upper stretch of railway on the right of
the locations is an area where you hear birds chirping. If you climb up
the embankment at the side of the track you will see sequence of two young
chicks in a nest, with lots of gold trinkets around them. If you go on the
lower part of the track that doubles round and cuts under itself, keep
walking right, even when you cannot see your character. You will find a
small cave with a miner at rest, who will let you take some source items.
Hidden
Hyper item: Go back into Midgar in the third disc. Go to the Don's Mansion
in Wall Market enter the room with the large bed (the center room on the
top). Go behind the bed and keep pressing Circle (PlayStation
version) in various areas to find a Hyper.
Chocobo
quality: Different Chocobo ranks can be found in various areas of the
game:
Getting
a Gold Chocobo: Get a Green Chocobo by mating two Great Chocobos or two Good
Chocobos. Obtain Carob nuts by buying some the Gold Saucer Wonder Square
for 500 GP or by stealing them from the Vlakarados creatures found near
the Bone Village. Get the Chocobos to the S class, then give them a Carob
nut. Race the Green Chocobo until it is in S class. Then, use a Carob nut
and mate the same or different Chocobos. Then, race the Blue Chocobo until
it is in S class. Use a Carob nut and mate the Blue and Green Chocobos.
You will get a Black Chocobo. Race it until it is a S class Chocobo. Then,
go to the Chocobo Tracks around the Icicle Inn area and get a Wonderful
Chocobo. Race it until it is a S class Chocobo. Find the Zeio Nut on an
island north of the Chocobo Farm. You can steal it from a Goblin that your
party fights. If you do not steal anything at first, try a few more times
then kill them and try again. Mate the Black Chocobo with the Wonderful
Chocobo using a Zeio Nut. You should now have a Gold Chocobo that can go
anywhere on the map.
After you have the Desert
Rose, trade it for the Gold Chocobo. Then, breed an S-Class Black with an
S-Class Yellow Wonderful with a Zeio Nut. If you have a male and female
Gold, breed them at S-Class with a Zeio Nut.
Getting
a Green or Blue Chocobo: Mate a Great or Good and another Great or Good Chocbo with a
Carob nut for a Green or Blue (Mountain or River) Chocobo.
Getting
a Black Chocobo: Mate a Blue and Green Chocobo with a Carob nut to get a Black
(Mountain and River) Chocobo.
White
Chocobo: You can see a White Chocobo in a shop in Mideel -- it is not a
baby Chocobo. That is a size of a White Chocobo, as they appeared in Final
Fantasy 4.
Catch
Chocobo without Greens: Get atleast 1 2x Cut materia and equip it to Cloud. Enter a
chocobo match. Have Cloud use 2x Cut on the enemies. If you are lucky, the
second attack will kill the other enemies, if there are any.
Items
from Chocobo racing: Keep racing your Chocobo after it reaches "S" class.
After racing seven to eight times, you will be complimented on finishing
first in "S" class so many times. After that, you will be
rewarded with a Chocobracelet, Counter Materia, Cat's Bell, and the
Precious Watch.
Fast
Chocobo breeding: If your Chocobos are not ready to mate each with other, just
catch two other ones and mate them. Repeat this procedure and after awhile
the game will allow you to mate your Chocobos. Also try to catch a Chocobo
and put it in the stable. Choose "Mating Chocobos" and select
the Chocobos that you want to mate.
Faster
Chocobos: Raise two Gold Chocobos to S rank, then mate them using a Carob
Nut. You should get either a Blue or Green Chocobo. Make sure to keep a
male and a female Gold Chocobo, as you will need them later. Once you can
mate them again, use another Carob Nut, and you should get another Blue or
Green Chocobo. You want the second Blue or Green Chocobo to be the
opposite color and sex than the last one. Get them both to S rank, then
mate them with a Carob Nut to get a very fast Black Chocobo. Race it up to
S rank, then mate it with a Gold Chocobo of the opposite sex, using a Zeio
Nut . You will not always get a Gold Chocobo immediately, so it is best to
save the game before mating them. Reload the game if you do not get a Gold
Chocobo and try again. Your new Gold Chocobo's speed should be an average
of its parents' speed.
Note: This trick requires at
least 100,000 Gil. Go to the Chocobo Sage located on the Ice Continent
near the Ice Village. Talk to him, and choose "Sell Me
Something". Select Sylikes Greens and buy at least 10. Return to the
Ranch and feed two Sylikes Greens to one Chocobo five times. This raises
your speed, at by at least 11 each time. It also raises Stamina and
Intelligence.
Get a male and female Gold
Chocobo. Get them to at least class A, then use a Zeio Nut to mate them. A
Gold Chocobo should be born. If it is not male, reset the game and try
again. Give it Sylikes Greens (approximately ten) until it is maxed out.
Its speed should now be 190.
Chocobo
hunting: Use the following trick to catch a wonderful Chocobo easily.
When you are walking around on the tracks, if you encounter a Chocobo with
two jumping rabbit monsters with it, catch that Chocobo. The Chocobo types
are not random when you catch them. Every time you see the two jumping
rabbits with a Chocobo, then that Chocobo is always a wonderful type. This
also applies to the other areas where you catch Chocobos, such as the
Mideel area. If you want to catch a great Chocobo, wait until you see a
Chocobo with two spiral monsters with it.
Get
Chocobos easier: Get the Escape materia and raise it up a level so you will have
Remove. When you battle a Chocobo, use your Remove magic and the monsters
with the Chocobo will disappear, leaving you with the Chocobo.
Use the Remove Materia.
Chocobos cannot be Removed with the enemy and it does not do any damage to
the Chocobo. Note: This works about 98% of the time.
Easy
Choobo level up: This trick requires at least two Slykis Greens and the W-Item
Materia. You can buy these greens from the Chocobo Sage in the Northern
Continent. After getting two of them, fight an easy enemy, such as the
monsters by the Chocobo Ranch or Midgar. Kill all but one, then chose
W-Item select the Slykis Greens. Use the "Unlimited items" trick
to duplicate the greens until you have 99 of them. When you catch a good
Chocobo, feed it 90 and everything will be leveled up fully.
Getting
stolen Materia back from Yuffie: Go to Wutai, which is located straight up from the location
where she steals your materia. Yuffie should jump out in the item shop
after you get Absorb materia. She will also steal that. Go to the house to
the right, directly as you enter Wutai and press Circle
(PlayStation version)next to the shade. She will jump out and leave. Next,
she will be in the round case next to the bar. Press Circle
(PlayStation version) there, and the two other members in your party will
move to block the bridge. Hit the case and it will break. She will try to
escape but cannot. She will end up taking you to her house and tell you to
pull a lever. It does not matter which lever you pull -- a cage will drop
down and she will escape again. Go to the well outside Lord Godo's house
and ring the bell. A door will open. Go through it and you will find
Corneo. Talk to him, then fight the shinra Soldiers. After that, you will
team up with the Turks to get Elena and Yuffie back. They will be on the
mountain where the hand meets the face. You will have to fight Corneo's
pet. After you defeat him, Corneo will think he still has you defeated.
The Turks will appear and you get your materia back.
Sexy
cologne: This key item must be obtained before sneaking into the Don's
building. Go to the little cafe and order something to get the item
coupon. Go to the pharmacy and get Digestive Medicine and give it to the
person vomiting. He will thank you and give you the Sexy Cologne in
return. This will increase the chance of the Don choosing Cloud.
Hint:
Quadra: Use the following trick to get Quadra magic without a Green
Chocobo. On the peninsula where the Quadra magic is found, there is a
small cliff separating the grass near Mideel and the asphalt below. If you
position the Highwind so that the cliff is just to your left, you can land
on the asphalt. To do this, raise your altitude and land while pressing Square
+ Left. You should land on the asphalt and can wander into the
cave. The Highwind will remain be on the asphalt next to the cliff.
However, you must be very precise and this may require a few attempts.
Double
Cut Materia: Go to the sunken Shinra ship and enter the door behind the save
point. Go to the bottom floor's upper-right corner and press Circle
(PlayStation version) to get it.
Added
Cut Materia: In the Great Glacier, go to the top right corner. You will now
be in a place that has four paths. Take the left-most path to reach one of
those paths that connect others. Go up one screen then look on the ground.
It is difficult to see, but if you look carefully you will find an Added
Cut Materia on the ground.
Summon
Materia locations:
Choco Mog Talk to the Chocobo at the front of the farm and reply
"Waaark".
Shiva At the Junon coast after saving Pricilla.
Ifrit On the boat after beating Jenova-BIRTH.
Ramuh Lying on the floor in the Chocobo Jockey waiting room.
Titan In the wreckage of the Gongaga reactor.
Odin Defeat the Lost Number enemy inside the Shinra mansion safe.
Leviathan Defeat everyone in the Pagoda in Wutai.
Kjata Walk to the second area in the Sleeping Forest and it will be
floating around. Wait in the spot where it is first seen, then tap [Action]
to take it. Do not use against fire absorbing enemies.
Alexander After the snowboarding sequence, find the hot spring and touch it.
Then find the area where you leave markers and keep to a straight path.
Find the hut there and enter. Leave through the downward facing door. Go
right, find the cave and talk to the person inside. Defeat her and the
materia will fall from the sky.
Bahamut Defeat the red dragon at the Cetra shrine.
Typhoon Defeat the Ultimate Weapon a few times until it dies. A crate will
remain. Go to the jelly object on top of the mountain and its at the
end.
Neo Bahamut After Geas cliff; just pick it up.
Phoenix Found while collecting the Huge Materia at Mount Condor. After
defeating the enemies and the man sends you out to check on the condor
egg, it can be found on the ground.
Hades On the wreckage in the Gelinka.
Bahamut ZERO Collect the four Huge Materia. Store them in the Observatory, then
look closely at the blue Huge Materia.
Knights Of The Round Found on the island only on the final disc. It is unmarked at the
top right of the map, and requires a Gold Chocobo to reach it.
Ramuh After you defeat Dyne at Coral Prison, you will go up an elevator
and into a room with Chocobo riders. There will be stalls at that
location. Press Circle at the very last stall to get the Ramuh
materia.
Getting
the Knights Of The Round materia: Get a Gold Chocobo. Go to the top right area on the map.
Although nothing will appear on the map, a small island will appear. Go on
it and get off the Chocobo. You should see a small opening. Enter it to
find the Knights Of The Round. The Gold Chocobo can also be used to find
other materia caves.
Getting
the Underwater materia: Go to the underwater tunnel by using the elevator in Juno.
Equip the Morph materia on someone and fight until encountering the Ghost
Ship enemy. Morph it, and the ghost ship will turn into the Guide Book.
Give it to the old man in the right-most house in Kalm. He will give you
the Underwater materia. This materia eliminate the timer when you fight
Emerald weapon.
Getting
the Contain Materia: Get one Miment Green and give it to the White Chocobo before
Mideel is destroyed. Then, scratch it behind the ear.
Hidden
Elemental Materia: Just after you get the Highwind and Tifa becomes the party
leader, go to Nibelheim. Enter Tifa's house and go to her room. Approach
the piano and press Action. Tifa will say "Cloud... Cloud was
playing". You will then find a hidden Elemental Materia.
Master
Materia: To get Master Materia (Magic, Summon, and Command), have every
materia of a color mastered. Then, return to Cosmo Canyon. Go to the color
of all the materia you mastered. It will exchange all the Master Materia
of that color and you will get the mastered materia. Do the same thing to
every color to get all Master Materia. Alternately, defeat Emerald Weapon
in the ocean off Junon. After you win, go to Kaml. Go to the house to the
right. The man there will exchange all three Master Materia.
Use the following trick to
get Master Magic, Master Command, Master Summon and Gold Chocobo. Morph
the Ghost Ship in the tunnel in the Underwater Reactor. Take the Guide
Book (which eliminates the time limit with Emerald Weapon) to the man in
Kalm in the right-most house, up stairs. Defeat the Emerald weapon to get
the Earth Harp. Defeat the Ruby Weapon to get the Desert Rose. When you
have all of these, take them to the man and he will give you the Master
Magic, Master Command, and Master Summon and a Gold Chocobo.
HP
<-> MP Materia: This trick requires a Black Chocobo. There is a desert cave
located just opposite the Golden Saucer. Use a Black Chocobo to gain
entry. Once inside, you will be able to get the HP <-> MP Materia.
This Materia swaps your HP stats with your MP stats. For example, if your
HP/MP is 9999/888, with this materia equipped it will be now 888/9999.
Super
MP Absorb: Get the MP Absorb and Master Summon (W-Summon is suggested)
materia. You can do this with any character, but Cloud is recommended.
Equip the character you want to absorb MP with MP Absorb (it does not have
to be mastered) linked with Master Summon. Enter a battle with this
materia equiped and summon Knights Of The Round (two times if you have the
W-summon materia). Once the summon is complete you will receive anywhere
between 600 and 700 MP. This ability is very useful against the Ruby
Weapon and Sephiroth.
Unlimited
Regen: Instead of using Regen, which has a limited time of effect,
equip yourself with an item or Materia that absorbs Poison. Make sure that
it does not nullify Poison. Then, Poison yourself and you will recover
health every turn until the very end of the battle. The best way to use
this strategy is to equip the Poison Ring or the combination of the
Elemental Materia level 3 with the Poison Materia in your armor.
Extra
Ribbons: Go to Geas Cliff. In the first cave after wrapping around to
the bridge overlooking the door that was used to enter, walk straight to
enter a cave with a box. Open it to find a ribbon. For a third ribbon, go
to Northern Crater and morph a Master Tonbury. It is helpful if it is
stopped first.
You can get unlimited ribbons
as soon as you get to the Northern Crater. Equip Cloud with the Ultimate
Weapon, 4X Cut, and Morph. Morph a Master Tonbury and repeat for as many
ribbons as needed.
Enter the special battle in
Battle Square at Gold Saucer. Morph the second monster, but make sure that
you have a ribbon equipped because it can do some status attacks. After
that, just run away and enter another battle to get another ribbon.
Extra
Tetra elemental: Go to Cactuar Island in the south-west portion of the map.
Explore until a Cactuar appears. Morph it to get the Tetra elemental.
Equip it and all elemental damage is nullified.
Healing
more effectively: Equip Restore Materia linked to All Materia. When in battle,
you can heal everyone in your party using the same amount of MP as if you
were just healing one person.
Getting
Protect Rings: Equip any character with the Morph materia. Go to the North
Cave in Disc 3. When prompted take the left or right path, choose the
right path. Keep searching until encountering an enemy called
"Mover", that resembles a rubber ball. Morph it to obtain a
Protect Ring. Repeat to equip all your characters with this item. This
allows them to automatically start a new battle with Barrier in place.
Getting
Cursed Rings: You can get two Cursed Rings in the game, only before Mideel is
destroyed. To get the first, go to Mideel on the Highwind when you are
looking for Cloud and enter the town. Go up the staircase to the right of
town and head towards the house to the far left. Go the right side of the
house and you will hear a squeaky noises in some places. Press X
(PlayStation version) and a message will appear, stating that you cannot
get the object. Backtrack to the store near the staircase and enter. Go to
the back of the store and press X (PlayStation version). You will
say something. Go back to the squeaky floor and press X
(PlayStation version). Tifa will get an idea, and you will get the object
(Rusty Key). Go back to the store again and press X (PlayStation
version) in front of the door. You will be given the option to try the
key. Select "Yes" and the key will break. The manager will ask
you if you broke the key. Tell him the truth and you will be rewarded with
the Cursed Ring. To get the second Cursed Ring, simply steal it from
Ultima Weapon when it attacks Mideel, when you visit Cloud for the second
time. The Cursed Ring raises your statistics. The only drawback is that it
casts a handful of status ailments to the equipped party member.
Before Mideel is destroyed,
go to the weapon shop. Examine the door in the back of the shop. Leave the
shop and walk across the bridge to the left of the shop. Walk around the
house until you here a kind of rattling sound. When you hear the sound,
press Circle (PlayStation version) and you should get an Old Key.
Take the key back to the weapon shop and examine the door in the back
again. Choose to use the Old Key to unlock the door. After the key breaks,
you will have a talk with the shop owner. When the shop owner asks
"What happened?" tell him the truth and he will give you the
Cursed Ring. This ring raises all of your stats by a lot, but it puts you
on Death Sentence every time you enter a battle. The Death Sentence can be
countered with a Phoenix Down.
Before Mideel has been
destroyed, but after Cloud is missing, go to the Mideel Materia Shop. Run
around to the right of it until you hear a "clink". Check the
location to get a rusty key. Go into the weapons shop and use the key on
the door in back. It will break off, and the shopkeeper will ask you what
happened. Tell the truth to get the Curse Ring. This interesting accessory
increases all your stats, but starts the character using it with a death
counter.
Getting
unlimited Sources: Equip any character with the Morph materia. Morph the various
creatures in the sunken Shinra vessel to get as many Guard, Speed,
Strength and other Sources as needed.
Getting
Power Sources: Go to the meltdown reactor at Gonganga town. Then, get into a
battle with a Heavy Tank. Morph it to get a Power Source to build your
strength up by a point. Repeat this as needed to build as much strength as
needed.
Equip at least one of your
characters with the Morph (or Enemy-Lure) materia and a powerful weapon
then enter the Gonzaga area. Enter the site with the destroyed reactor.
Every enemy you encounter should be a Large Tank. The tank is not too
powerful (about 1600 HP), and every time you Morph it, you qill receive a
Power Source. It is much easier than trying to Morph the Unknowns, and is
a very fast way to boost your power without having to swap weapons (for
Materia growth, slots, etc.)
Getting
Guard Sources: Find an enemy called Spiral In the Overworld. Morph it to get a
Guard Source.
Attach a Morph materia to any
character. Ride in the Highwind or on an advanced Chocobo. Go to Mideel
and you will see some islands. Go to the small island directly south of
Mideel. Fight the Spirals there. Sense materia also helps. Morph them and
you will get Guard Sources.
Getting
X-Potions: After you go through the Sleeping Forest, run around until you
find an enemy called a Malldancer. Morpth it to get an X-Potion.
Go to the Junon airport path
and encounter some Shinra Soldiers + Machine. Win the battle will have two
(more or less) X-Potions.
Go to Wutai and enter the
mountains. The monsters you fight there give lots of X-Potions. Each
battle can give from one to four X-Potions, depending on monster type.
Getting
an Hi-Potion: When on the train to blow up Sector 5 Reactor, you will have to
escape the train by moving up from car to car. On end of the second car
(the side closest to you) is a black man. Talk to him by quickly pressing
"OK" to get a free Hi-Potion.
Getting
Potions: At the beginning of the game, after getting off the train go up
to the first person that Jesse kills. Press Circle(2) to get two
easy Potions.
Getting
a HP Absorb: In Wutia, at the place where the cats keep walking around,
there are stairs at the end of the room. Walk over to them, then press Action
to walk up. Move towards the screen and you will enter a new area. Walk
down the hall and open the treasure chest to get the HP Absorb.
Getting
Megalixirs: At the motel in Kalm, when your party says you took a while
getting there, go to the southwest and look in the dresser. Press Circle
until you find a megalixir.
Turtle
Paradise Flyer locations: Note: After reading all six Turtle Paradise Flyers, proceed to
Turtle Paradise headquarters in Wutai.
Little boy's bedroom in
Sector 5 of Midgar Slums
Near the lobby on first floor of Shinra Building
In Tiger Lily Arms in Cosmo Canyon
On wall at Cosmo Canyon Inn
Next to the item shop in Ghost Motel at the Gold Saucer
Yuffie's basement in Wutai
Enemy
Skill Materia locations:
Hojo's Experiment Chamber
on the 68th floor of the Shinra Tower in Midgar after defeating the
H0512
The New Training Center in Junon
Sleeping House in the Forgotten City
The Chocobo Sage's Green Chocobo after you get the Highwind
(post-meteor)
Getting
the Angel Whisper enemy skill: Go to the bottom part of Northern Cave and encounter the enemy
that resembles Snow from the Great Glacier. It is usually accompanied by
snakes.
Getting
the Aqualung enemy skill: After obtaining the Buggy, drive around the Gold Saucer desert
until you encounter a Harpy. Manipulate it and make it use Aqualung on
your party.
There is a second monster you
can learn Aqualung from, in case you missed the opportunities during Disc
1. In the Crashed Gelnika, there is a monster called Serpent in the room
with the destroyed helicopter. Attack it once and it may counterattack
with Aqualung.
When you fight Jenova: Life,
she will use Aqualung. By this time you should have three Enemy Skills --
if she uses that attack, you will learn it.
Getting
the Bad Breath enemy skill: Fight the creature after the Icicle Fall, on the left side
after equipping the Enemy Skill materia.
Getting
the Beta enemy skill: Fight the giant serpent south of Kalm after equipping the Enemy
Skill materia.
To easily get Beta on Disc 1,
you will need Enemy Skill White Wind, Big Guard, and some mid-level
spells. You can return to Junon when you have the buggy via the ship in
Coasta De sol. Before the battle, one character should have Enemy Skill
while another character equips the level 2 spells. Go into battle and
start using your level 2 spells. If you have Demi, use it as it causes
significant damage. Do not let your character with Enemy Skill attack too
much, or he or she will be kicked out of the battle. When the snake rises,
cast Big Guard on your party. Use White Wind to heal. When one character
is kicked out of the battle, the snake will use Beta. Big Guard halves the
damage done by Beta. Cure the party and you can use Beta immediately to
kill the snake. If he caused a lot of problems before rising, wait until
you get Odin, which cause major damage to the snake. Aqualung also works
well.
It is possible to acquire the
Beta spell from the Midgar Zolom and defeat it the first time you
encounter it. Equip Cloud with the Talisman and give him Enemy Skill and
Restore Materia and linked Fire/Elemental in his armor. Equip another
party member with Poison. Sense and a Restore/All will also help. Put
everyone in the back row. At the start of the fight, cast Bio on the Zolom
until it is poisoned. Wait for it to get low on health, then have someone
other than Cloud attack it. It will knock that person out of the fight.
Get Cloud to full health, hold his turn, and have the remaining party
member attack the Zolom again. It will cast Beta, which Cloud should
survive. Immediately have Cloud cast Cure on himself. Continue Curing
every turn until the poison kills the Zolom. This may require a few
attempts.
Getting
the Big Guard enemy skill: To get the Big Guard enemy skill (casts Barrier, M-Barrier, and
Haste), make sure you have Manipulate (Cait Sith is equipped with it) and
Enemy Skill materias. Go to Costa Del Sol's nearby beach. You will find an
enemy called Beach Plug. Use the Manipulate on them and make one cast Big
Guard on your party.
Getting
the Chocobuckle enemy skill: Have the Enemy Skill Materia that has level 4 Suicide equipped
on someone in your party (Cloud recommended). Then, get at least a Green.
Battle with a Chocobo. Give the Greens to the Chocobo, then use your level
4 Suicide on the Chocobo and enemies. If done correctly, the Chocobo
should use Chocobuckle on everyone and run away, You will still get to
keep Chocobuckle for Enemy Skill.
Find a Chocobo near Mideel
and feed it about four Mimmet Greens. Then, use level 4 Suicide on it. The
Chocobo will use Chocobuckle on your party.
Getting
the Death Force enemy skill: Fight the adamataiami on the beach of the west continent.
Getting
the Death Roulette enemy skill: Equip all party members with the Enemy Skill Materia. Walk
around in the spiral part of the Northern Cave encountering a Death
Dealer. Manipulate it during the battle and cast death roulette. This will
increase the chance of the party member with the best Enemy Skill Materia
to get hit with that attack.
Getting
the Death Sentence enemy skill: Fight the demon riders before the Broken Reactor after
equipping the Enemy Skill materia.
Getting
the Dragon Force enemy skill: Manipulate the Dark Dragons with a master level Manipulate
Materia and the Hypnocrown accessory.
Getting
the Flame Thrower enemy skill: Fight the green dragons at the Broken Reactor after equipping
the Enemy Skill materia.
Getting
the Frog Song enemy skill: Fight the frogs south-east of Cosmo Canyon after equipping the
Enemy Skill materia.
Getting
the Goblin Punch enemy skill: Go to the Goblin Islands and get in a fight with a Goblin. Get
it to do the Goblin Punch against a character equipped with the Enemy
Skill materia.
Getting
the L5 Death enemy skill: Fight the Parasite in the crater.
Getting
the Laser enemy skill: Manipulate the Dark Dragons with a master level Manipulate
Materia and the Hypnocrown accessory.
Fight a Death Claw in the
Desert Prison when you are locked up in the Gold Saucer area before
getting the Buggy.
Getting
the Magic Breath enemy skill: Fight the Stilva in Gaea's Cliff.
Getting
the Magic Hammer enemy skill: Walk around the Wutai area. You will encounter an enemy called
Razor Weed. Manipulate him and use Magic Hammer on the character(s) who
have the Enemy Skill Materia on them.
Getting
the Matra Magic enemy skill: Equip the character of your choice or all members with the
Enemy Skill materia. Go to the Junon area, and reach the Junon path near
the submarine base. Keep searching until encountering a Death Machine. Do
not attack it and allow it to use the Matra Magic skill on the party.
Walk around just outside of
Midgar until you encounter an enemy named Custom Sweeper. Wait until it
uses Matra Magic. The character(s) with the Enemy Skill Materia will learn
this technique.
Getting
the Pandora's Box enemy skill: Morph a Zombie Dragon at low health and a changed into vaccine
message will appear. However, the Zombie Dragon can still attack with
Pandora's box on your party.
Getting
the Shadow Flare enemy skill: When fighting Ultimate Weapon, injure until his countdown
attack gets to zero. This can also be obtained in the bottom part of
Northern Cave from the enemy called Zombie Dragons.
Getting
the Trine enemy skill: Although this is one of the rarest and rarely found enemy
skills, three different enemies in the game use this skill but only in
these areas:
Materia Keeper in Nibelhiem
Mountains
Stilva in Gaia's Clff
Godo in Wutai's Pagoda
First, get the first one from
the Materia Keeper in Disc 1 pre-Meteor. Then, get the second from the
Stilvas in Gaia's Cliff. For the third, wait until after Meteor is
summoned to do the Wutai Pagoda so Yuffie can fight Godo and get it after
getting the final Enemy Skill materia.
Getting
the ???? enemy skill: Fight the Jersys in the Shinra Mansion.
Getting
a second Chocobo Lure: Go to the Chocobo Farm while on the Disc 3. Follow the fence
line to the top, past the house to find a Chocobo Lure.
Getting
a second Great Gospel: Go to the sleeping man who tells you how many times you have
battled. If the number of times you battled ends with the same two digits
(e.g. 344) he will give you an item. The first time you do this he will
give you a some type of ring, the second time he will give you mithril.
You can only get an item once from him for each 11 battles. Take the
mithril to the weapons seller.. He will tell you he is low on material and
ask if you have any. (He will only ask if you have the mithril). Give him
the mithril and he will let you open the small box or the large box. Open
the small box to receive the Great Gospel limit break for Aeris. If you go
back to the sleeping man on the Disc 2 with the same last two digits for
battles, then he will give you more mithril. Do the same thing you did to
get the first Great Gospel. You should now have two if the first one has
not been used yet.
Getting
the Contain materia: Get five Miment Greens and go to Mideel at any time. Give the
White Chocobo the greens, then tickle it behind its ear.
Go to the Chocobo Ranch and
buy one of each Green. Then go to the Chocobo Sage's house and buy the
other two Greens. Go to Mideel and up to the top level. Talk to the little
White Chocobo and give him the Greens. Then, tickle him behind the ear and
the Contain Materia will appear.
Getting
a Ghost Cactaur in Snowboarding mini-game (PlayStation version): Go to Gold Saucer and go to the Wonder Square. Play the
Snowboarding game and get a qualifying score for each course. After you
successfully get a "Good" rating for the Crazy Course, select
"Try Again". You will find the yellow balloon and can enter time
attack mode. Go to the Beginner Course. If you find a silver balloon and
touch it, a "Speed Up!" message will appear in the middle of the
screen. Complete the course under a 00:54:00 time. You will get a ranking
that says "SUPER". Select "Try Again" and hit the
yellow balloon again. Press Start and go to "Options"
then select "Ghost". You should see the following options:
Off
Board
Sleigh
? ? ?
Now select the "? ?
?" option to race a Cactuar instead of a Mog. It runs down the hill
extremely fast.
Status
display: The highest number shown on the status menu is 255. However the
game will allow items on that screen to be built higher, but will display
anything greater than that number.
Locations Hints
Ancient
Forest : Enter the without defeating Ultimate Weapon: Get a Mountain Chocobo by breeding a Good and a Great Chocobo
and feeding them a Carob Nut. Then, use the Highwind and take your Chocobo
to Cosmo Canyon. Once there, use your Mountain Chocobo to get up onto the
mountain that has the Ancient Forest on it. Get off your Chocobo and enter
the forest. This way. you can get some of the more powerful Materia and
weapons early in Disc 2 instead of having to wait until Disc 3.
Bone
Village: Dig without paying: Talk to the digging man in front of the house. Choose
"Start digging", and select any treasure. Go to where you want
to dig and select "Done", without calling any men for 100 gil.
Ignite the bomb, and press Square (PlayStation version). You will
see a man digging, and in the morning you will have the same chance of
getting an item as ordering one digger.
Corel:
Hidden bird's nest: In Disc 1, when you reach the booth to make the bridge go down
to Corel, you will notice walls that look like domes. The first wall with
no cracks or damage can be climbed to reach a bird's nest. Cloud will then
say something similar to "Leave it alone" or "Get the damn
treasure". Choose to get the treasure and you will have to fight a
big bird. Once you defeat it, you will receive ten Phoenix Downs.
Corel:
Hidden ex-coal miner cave: In Disc 1, you have to take a road to Corel. Once you get the
bridge down and able to cross it, there will be a fork in the road. One
leads to the rubble in the water, and the other to Corel. Take the road to
rubble and keep going. Then, turn right to reach an old man's cave with a
tractor inside. There is an Ether, a Potion, and a Tent in this cave,
along with an old man.
Cosmo
Canyon: Back room of General Store: The General store in Cosmo Canyon has a back room that is roped
off when your characters first arrive. Check back after Meteor has been
summoned. The rope will be gone, allowing your characters to walk back in
the room and get an Elixir, Magic Source, and the "Full Cure"
Materia.
Cosmo
Canyon: Hidden picture of Dyne: When Bugenhiagen shows you his conservatory he will talk about
Spirit Energy. When it shows the planet, it has Dyne on top of it.
Costa
Del A Sol: Buying a villa: Go to Costa Del A Sol in the final Disc or before Disc 3 with
at least 300,000 gil. Talk to the person in the upper floor in the first
house to the right, with the worlds "Costa Del A Sol" on it.
Fort
Condor: Defending area: Soon after you make it through the Mythril Mine, you will see a
tower. Go inside and agree to help. Begin talking to everyone about
everything, but give no money. When they allow you to buy supplies and
rest there, leave. After acquiring the Highwind, you can basically go
anywhere. Fly the Highwind back to Fort Condor during Disc 3, and they
need your help. Fight against outside creatures until you have about
75,000 gil, then enter the fort. When you reach the top tower, you need to
defend the mountain. To do this, set it up in the following:
Put "Tristoners"
on every path and intersection.
Do the same with the other
defending objects.
Use nothing but the moving
characters with no strengths or weaknesses. When you attack men fall,
build two more. When your defense falls, built two more slightly higher.
If an enemy soldier reaches
very close to the top, find the moving character who has a strength to
him and built two of them in order to destroy him.
If for some reason you lose
the hill, you fight a Boss with a lot of HP but weak attacks. Simply use
your level three magic, Deathblow and Mug. He will die quickly.
In Fort Condor, you do not
need money. You also do not have to set up soldiers for the battle. Just
wait for them to come to the cabin and you will fight the commander (which
is not that difficult). Afterwards, it is the same as if you actually used
soldiers, and will get the Huge Materia from the man inside.
To win the Fort Condor
battles easily, you only need to deploy four attackers at the beginning of
the battle. Place two of them on the far left, one in the middle, and one
on the far right. At the start of the battle, have all four attackers go
straight down the mountain as fast as possible, with the two attackers on
the left heading towards the leftmost enemy and the other two attackers
heading towards the rightmost enemy. When you are about three to four
screen inches away from the enemy, do the following:
If it is a Beast, let your
two attackers take care of it and deploy a fighter to help with the next
enemy.
If it is a Barbarian,
deploy a defender and let him take care of it. Move your attackers to
the bottom of the screen to take on the last foe.
If it is a Wyvern, deploy a
shooter to take care of it. Move your attackers down to deal with the
second threat.
If done correctly, the battle
will be over after only four kills. Because the screen only has to be
empty of enemies, you do not have to kill all of them to win. Therefore,
you can win any Fort Condor battle (even the final one) using only about
1200 gil (depending if you brought in more than six units). Note: If you
are fast, you can win the battle by killing only the first two enemies.
Gold
Saucer: Time attack mode in snowboarding: Get a good (70+) score on each of the three tracks in the
snowboarding game in Gold Saucer. Then, get the yellow balloon to enter
time attack mode.
Gold
Saucer: Higher battle points: When you win a battle and the slots appear, try to get a bad
one. You get more battle points when you select bad items. Before you do
this, give the character that is fighting a Ribbon to avoid any status
changes such as Poison or Frog.
Gold
Saucer: Slot machine prizes: Play the little slot machine in Wonder Square to get one of the
following items when you win: 500 GP, 300 GP, 100 GP, 50 GP, 30 GP, 3 GP,
1 GP, Phoenix Down, Potion, Elixir, and Megalixer.
Gold
Saucer: Greater chance of Chocobo fight: Go to the Gold Saucer battle arena and have a couple of tries.
Exchange your B.P. for Enemy Lure and equip them to the same character who
has Chocobo Lure. Go to any of the tracks and you should have a Chocob
most of the time.
Gold
Saucer: Easy Chocobo race win: If you have acquired a Chocobo that can run on mountains
(Mountain, Black, or Gold), race with it. While in the race, your Chocobo
will never slow down from things that usually affect other Chocobos (for
example, the space area at the end of the short course or the underwater
area in the long course).
Gold
Saucer: Chocobo race with Tifa or Cid: After you have started racing Chocobos, go to the Gold Saucer
with Tifa or Cid in your party. After you register for a race, and have
chosen whether you wanted to race the short or the long course, Cid or
Tifa will appear and ask if they can race. You can either agree or
disagree; as it does not affect your race in any way.
Gold
Saucer: Easy Battle Square win: To win easily in the Gold Saucer's Battle Square, go there with
Vincent's limit bar filled. You can use that limit in however many battles
you want.
Equip Cid (at level 63 or
higher) with the Venus Gospel, the Aurora Armlet (which protects against
Ice), and the Peace Ring (protects against Berserk, Fury, Sadness, or
Confusion). In two slots, put a mastered Cure with All. In the other two
have a mastered Odin and at least a half mastered Hades. In the other two
put two HP Pluses that are nearly mastered. In the bottom four slots put a
nearly mastered MP Plus, a mastered Lightning, and in the other two put a
mastered Fire plus an All. In the battle you will be almost undefeatable
if you keep using Regen and casting Odin to instant kill. Also, Hades will
put most enemies to sleep or put Slow on them and Frog and Confusion. Most
of the attacks from the enemy (Ice and Water based) will heal you due to
the Aurora Armlet. Your HP and MP will be astoundingly high, around 8500;
and your MP will be around 800 to 850.
Equip Cloud with Ribbon, and
Mime Materia. Equip as many HP Pluses as possible. The only Materia needed
is Mime, but you need a lot of HP for the trick. Get Omnislash first, and
fill the limit bar in a real fight. Go to the Arena and have Cloud fight.
Immediately use Omnislash. Continue to Mime, and only Mime. This will
quickly win any battle, even the advanced battles available after
Omnislash and W-Summon are bought for 32,000 BP and 64,000 BP. Use the
trick to slow down the "spinner", to get a Frog or something
else, which is blocked by the Ribbon. If you did not get the Ribbon in the
Temple Of The Ancients, you can get more by morphing Master Tonberrys.
Have a Ribbon, Mime, and
Omnislash, and be at least at level 50. When the battle starts, use Haste.
After that use, Omnislash and Mime the rest of the way. For Ribbon, have
it for the handicaps so Poison, Frog or any abnormal status does not
affect you.
At the moment that you kill
your last enemy, open the PlayStation's disc lid and wait for your active
time bar to fill. Normally, you would only have a small amount filled.
When your time bar is filled, you will have an easier chance to get the
first strike. You may keep doing this trick throughout the entire battle.
Remember, once you kill your last enemy in each round (except for the last
round), immediately open the disc lid.
To win at the Battle Square
in the Gold Saucer easily, equip a character who has a powerful Limit
Break with an Enemy Skill Materia that has White Wind and a Mimic Materia.
When the first battle starts, cast White Wind on yourself on the first
turn. Then, use Mimic on every turn. You will stay at full HP without
spending more MP. Do this until your limit bar fills, then use your Limit
Break. Then, use Mimic on every turn and you will just keep doing the
Limit Break. This even carries over between fights as long as you do not
get the Command Materia disabled. If you get too low on HP, just cast
White Wind again and start the process over.
Gold
Saucer: Easy arm wrestling win: To win the arm wrestling game in Gold Saucer easily, use a
controller with an auto-fire feature (PlayStation version). Set the
auto-fire to Circle and just hold that button when arm wrestling to
win most of the time.
Gold
Saucer: Easy basketball win: Hold Right and press Circle for about one second
to make the shot.
Gold
Saucer: Easy points: In Wonder World, near the games, you will find a Mog game with
a man next to it. Play the Mog game, feeding him slowly until he is full,
and no more than that. Do this twice and you will win the Mog game. It
takes awhile, but talk to the man afterwards and he will give you 30
points.
Gold
Saucer: Easy GP: When you are in Gold Saucer, listen closely to the background
music. When you hear a steady beat, play a game of Super Dunk in Wonder
Square. Push and release the button on each beat, and you will always sink
it. This can easily earn you a few hundred GP with every game.
Go to the Chocobo Races and
either race one of your Chocobos or bet on one. If you win something, you
can either exchange your item ticket for the item or some GP.
Go to Wonder Square and play
the Mog house game. When it asks you to feed it, do so until it makes a
squeaky noise . After you win, talk to the person behind you. She will say
that she is impressed and give you 30 GP.
Honeybee
Inn: Mini Cait Sith: Go to the Honeybee Inn in Disc 1. Peek in the room with the two
old people in it and move the screen all the way over to the hot tub. You
will see a mini Cait Sith jumping up and down.
Icicle
Island: Chocobo Sage: The Choboco Sage is located on Icicle Island, which is east of
the city that you snowboard at.
Junon:
Sleeping old man: Directly East of Junon is a small cave that is only accessible
using the Highwind or riding on a blue/gold Chocobo. The old man in the
cave can tell you how many times your party has fought or escaped. You can
also get helpful items from him, but the last two digits in the times you
have fought must be the same. For instance, speaking to him after you have
fought 699 times may get you the Bolt Ring.
Midgar:
Getting back in: Revisit Midgar at any time on disc 3. The man walking around
outside the wall will say that he lost his key to sector 5 around the Bone
Village. Travel to the Bone Village on the Highwind or Gold Chocobo. Dig
for normal treasure, on the top half (upper level) of the site. Keep
searching until the key to sector 5 is discovered. The party may now move
in and out of Midgar freely.
Midgar:
Bonus Shin-Ra building FMV sequence: The first time you enter the Shin-Ra building, bust in after
disposing of the guards Go upstairs, but do not take the elevator. Go into
the shop in the upper-right corner. Listen to the people in the
bottom-left corner. Then, go next to the man and press Circle
(PlayStation version). You should see an FMV sequence. Note: This does not
work after frightening the couple away.
Nibelheim:
Safe combination: The combination to the safe in the old mansion in Nibelheim
that contains the key to enter the basement (and get Vincent) is Right 36,
Left 10, Right 59, Right 97. Note: Push the button used to talk to people
to select each number. After opening the safe and fighting the monster
inside, a key to the other part of the mansion and Odin summon materia
will be found.
Shinra
Headquarters: Guess password on first attempt: Save the game before doing this trick. Then, get to the 62nd
floor in the building. Go to the mayor's office and he will tell you to
guess the correct password. If you guess it on your first try, you will
get a best item. Keep guessing the password until getting it correct.
Then, press R1 + L1 + R2 + L2+ Start to
reset the game. Reload the file that you just saved. Go back to the 62nd
floor and use the same password that was correct earlier. You will get an
Elemental Materia without having to spend Gil on clues.
Sunken
Ship: Easy gil: If you are low on gil, go to the sunken Gelinka ship. You
should get about 5,000 gil per battle.
Swamp:
Crossing without a Chocobo: To get across the swamp where the Zolom lives without a
Chocobo, enter and keep running. If the Zolom is just about to enter a
battle with you, save the game. Then reset, and load the saved game. The
Zolom will be in a distant corner, giving you a chance to get across
without a battle. If not, repeat those steps until you are across.
Walk up to the edge of the
marsh, without actually entering it. Save the game, and reset. Walk about
a third of the way through the marsh area, watching for the Zolom as you
go. Do not try to push it too far, or the Zolom will catch you. When you
have gone one third of the way (or however far without getting caught),
save the game and reset. When you load your game, hold Up. Even
when the screen is black and is still loading, keep it held. Continue on
about another third of the way, and save the game. Reset and repeat until
you reach the Mythril Mine. When you load the game and are facing the
Mythril Mine, the Midgar Zolom does not appear for about three seconds.
During this time, you can move towards the mine without being caught. Even
when the Zolom appears, it always appears in the top left-hand corner of
the marsh. It is not a random selection, and can never suddenly appear on
top of you. However, when you get closer to the mine you must be more
careful, because it starts out closer to you. However, you still have time
to move around without him coming near you. Note: This trick will not work
if you just go to the menu screen and exit again -- you must save and
reset.
Winhill:
Cow abduction by aliens: When you go to Winhill on Disc 3, exit the town near where the
two boys playing tag and the man in yellow are located. It is a small exit
besides the flower shop on this screen. You should be on a dirt path.
Follow the path until you see the rock formation slightly below the top
left corner of the screen. Then, walk onto the right side corner and a
battle screen will appear. No enemy will be shown, and you are then
prompted to attack something. An UFO abducting a cow should fly across the
screen.
Wutai:
Turtle's Paradise Prizes: The Turtle's Paradise restaurant in Wutai has hidden six flyers
with their advertisement in various locations. Collect all six flyers and
return them to the restaurant owner to receive a prize consisting of a
Power Source, Guard Source, Magic Source, Mind Source, Speed Source, Luck
Source, and a Megalixer. The flyers are located in the following places.
Sector 5 slums, on the wall
upstairs in a house on the east side of town.

the wall outside the trap room

reached by a Gold Chocobo.

Final
ending sequence: Wait until all the credits have completed to watch the final
part of the ending sequence, which shows what happens 500 years later.
Parachute
tricks: When the game shows Cloud and the others parachuting from
above, press the D-pad to do tricks with Cloud.

the Chocobo music from Final Fantasy Adventure on the Game Boy. The
victory music at the end of a race is the ending battle music from Final
Fantasy Legend 2 for the Game Boy.
