Alternate
ending: Successfully complete the game after collecting at least 100
Power Cells.
Alternately, get all 101 Power
Cells, all 2000 Precursor Orbs, and all the Scout Flies.
Faster
credits: Once the names of the Naughty Dog staff have been shown and have
disappeared off the screen, hold X or Circle, The credits will
speed up and be completed in a few seconds.
Map
translation: The following message is the code translated from around the
outside of the map that is included with the game.
"In ancient, dreamless,
uninvaded sleep, the silent giants wait to be awakened. Deep will their
slumber be, silent their once echoing voices, until the world has no
memory of their beginnings. In the gloom they will watch, and they will
wait. Those who go to them for answers will return only with new
questions. But these will come when silence ends. The one who carries the
light will awaken the voices. With him one whose fate was twisted toward
darkness long ago, in the time before time when the light bursts from the
earth the answers to the questions will begin. But only begin, for still
the world will not be ready to learn the truth of its past, or the secrets
of its future."
Hint:
Faster Zoomer: Hold L1 + R1 to go faster on the Zoomer, at the
expense of maneuverability.
Hint:
Turn faster when flying: When flying, hold L1 + R1 while turning. This will
insure a sharper turn.
Hint:
Shoot cannons farther: To make the cannons at Misty Island and Sentinel Beach shoot
farther, hold Square or Circle + X. This helps with any
steel boxes.
Hint:
Super jump: Press L1 + X. If timed correctly, you will go into
a crouch position and spring higher that you would by double jumping (X,
X).
Do the rolling jump, then just
as you touch the ground, press X. You will jump as high as the double
jump.
After double jumping, press Circle
rapidly for a longer jump.
Hint:
Avoid fall damage: Press Circle to spin kick just before you hit the ground
and you will land perfectly every time.
Hint:
Swim faster: Instead of holding the Analog-stick in the direction you
want to swim, keep tapping the Analog-stick in that direction. By
doing this, you will move about twice as fast.
Hint:
Flying: In training mode, get Blue Eco to go through a door; instead jump
off the mountain side with rocks. If done correctly you will be flying until
the Blue Eco runs out.
Hint:
Handstand: To make Jak do a handstand, find a cannon that fires the
exploding bags. For example, at the tower at Sentinel Beach. Get on top of
the barrel of the cannon. Try until Jak stands still without sliding. Hold R1
and press X. Jak will jump high. Then, press Square to slam
down. If done correctly, Jak should do a handstand momentarily.
Hint:
Defeating the Giant Plant: At the Giant Plant in the Forbidden Jungle level, run from the
first spike bug until the spikes go in, then destroy it. The plant will try
to eat you. Dodge it, and it will go to sleep. Jump up on the leaves and hit
the flower part. Repeat this another two times. After he collapses, jump on
his head and an orb will appear. Jump on the head until no more orbs come
out.
Hint:
Defeating Gol and Maia: To defeat Gol and Maia, first access all Sages at their citadel.
After hitting the three Sages that are reachable (Blue, Yellow, And Red),
platforms will rise. Daxter will tell you to go up them. There are rotating
platforms that are difficult to get on. Once at the top, follow the trail
around until you see the lamp to the Green Sage. Hit it and an intermission
sequence will start. The Green Sage will tell you about Gol and Maia's
robot. Go through the door to your immediate left. Hit the elevator button
to go up. Hit all the chests on top, as you will need them. Hop onto the
platform with the Blue Eco. You will now be with the giant robot. Pick up
the Yellow Eco then jump and fire to break the robot's energy shield. Maia
will yell, and a floating drone will be released. Get to the Blue Eco and go
to the launch pad. Wait until about the third or fourth tone, then press X
to launch yourself away from the blast. Once back down, the robot will shoot
Green Eco into the Dark Eco pool. Dark Eco creatures will appear. Use the
Yellow Eco to kill them all. Then, go to the Blue Eco vent and repeat the
process with the floating drone. Once back down, the robot will shoot out
about five or six red spheres. They cause a wave. Grab the Yellow Eco, and
while jumping over the waves, shoot at the robot to break off a weapon.
Repeat the process of the floating drone once more. Then, grab the Yellow
Eco again then try and dodge the fireballs the robot throws. Shoot at the
arm until it breaks. The ending sequence will begin. Then, if you have not
already done so, go back to each location to complete each task. Collect 101
Power Cells to open the door on top of Gol and Maia's Citadel.
If you do not defeat Gol and
Maia the first time, you will regenerate on the silo with only three hearts.
To get an extra life, look to the right. A large ball of Green Eco will be
in front of you, but do not use it yet. Instead, get on the Precursor
platform (it has a blue lightning bolt) docked next to it. Fly on it up to
the top of the citadel. All the chests will be there. Break as many as
desired; you will not be able to get up any more until you die again. Ride
the platform back and defeat Gol and Maia.
Hint:
Defeating the Klaww: At the Klaww in the Mountain Pass level, dodge the boulders. The
last one he throws will contain Blue Eco. Get it, and a bridge will appear.
Run to the end, dodging the boulders as you go. Get the Yellow Eco at the
end, and when he starts to make a big boulder, fire away. Keep blasting him
until he drops the boulder on his head, then run back to the first three
platforms and repeat the process another two times.
Hint:
Defeating spiders: The easiest way to kill the spiders in the spider's cave is to
Jak's uppercut move (L1 + Square). Avoid the purple stuff they
spit at you, and position yourself underneath. Use the uppercut to kill them
in one hit.
Hint:
Get to Yellow Sage: When you get to Gol and Maia's Citadel, free the Blue Sage first
and go on the Blue Eco platform. Roll, then jump off. You will be able to
free the Yellow Sage without having to go through the obstacles. Note: This
may require some practice to avoid falling.
Hint:
Jump to first Precursor Rhymer: It is nearly impossible to jump to the first Precursor Rhymer.
However, if you do a very high and long jump, you should be able to make it.
Also, to kill the things that appear from the plant, run away from them
until their spiked back goes, then spin kick them.
Hint:
Sentinel Beach Scout Fly: To do a uppercut, hold R1 then press X. Do this is
in Sentinel Beach. Go to the cave and uppercut the poles to make them come
out of the ground. Jump on them to get to a hard to reach Scout Fly.
Go near the wall that has the
Scout Fly on it. Double jump by pressing X(2). Jak should grab the
wall. Jump and you will be on the wall and can now get the Scout Fly.
Hint:
Power Cells: Go in the Forbidden Jungle and talk to the person that is
standing on a bridge. If you catch 200 pounds of fish, he will give you a
Power Cell and let you ride his boat until dark.
To get the electricity to work
for Sandover Village. go into the Forbidden Jungle and go behind the big
building. There should be a little building on the right. Get on top of it
and break the mirror by kicking it in the air. Follow the beam to the next
pole. Keep on doing this until it is done, then go to the mayor for a Power
Cell.
Use the following trick to
reach the Power Cell on top of the raised chamber in Lost Precursor City.
Once the chamber gets raised to the surface, go back in the chamber and go
under water. Once it is stopped and the door opens, get out and climb the
stairs to get to the top of the walkway. Watch out for spinning Lurkers.
Double jump to get the Power Cell on top of the chamber, then raise the
chamber back up to the surface.
Go to Snowy Mountain, and at
the side of a cliff near where some Lurkers that pop up from the snow are
attacking you, there are a few pine trees. There is a hidden passage behind
the trees. Get past the icy obstacles to find a yellow vent switch (similar
to the blue one in Forbidden Temple). After you activate it, go to mountain
pass. There will be a Yellow Eco vent near the cave. Get the Eco and turn to
your left. There is a suspiciously colored boulder in the cliff wall. Blast
it with Yellow Eco and you will find a hidden Power Cell behind it.
Go near the Spider Cave then
turn around. You will see a metal box. Go in the Spider Cave and find a
yellow Eco vent close to the opening of the level. Run as fast as you can
with yellow Eco. Run towards the box on the second step. Jump and fire as
much as possible. Then, run up there to find a Power Cell.
Go to the Spider Cave then go
to the nearest Yellow Eco vent. Fill up and roll jump (run and press R1,
X) to the first stair to the entrance. From there, you will see a
steel box on the cliff-like structure. Shoot it and a Power Cell will fly
out into your reach.
Hint:
Extra Precursor Orbs: After defeating the giant plant in the Forbidden Jungle, go back
and jump on what looks like the left eye of the plant. An orb will appear.
Grab it and repeat. You should be able to get at least four orbs out of it.
To get the ten Precursor Orbs
under the Blue Eco Device near the Geologist and the Flaming Boulder, follow
the steps. Run over to the Blue Eco diagonally across from the Blue Eco
Device (not the one behind the mountain). Get the one next to that boulder.
Before you get it, jump over it, and roll jump into it (get behind it very
close then press R1 + X. Jak will roll into it, then leap a
few extra feet). Very quickly, keep roll jumping the entire time to get to
the other side. This is extremely difficult, as you cannot make any mistakes
and must have perfect timing. This is the only way to get it. You will make
it just in time to unlock the Blue Eco Device. Remember, the Blue Eco keeps
reappearing after every try.
Hint:
Orb from the big bird: Unlock the Eco vent, then get to the cannon. Shoot the bird and
the orb. Go to the nest. The orb will be in the nest.
Hint:
Unlimited Green Eco: When fighting rats in Boggy Swamp, do not destroy their nest.
They are very easy to defeat and give you four pieces of Green Eco each. If
you are low on life, destroy some rats.
Hint:
Dark Crystal locations:
Hanging in Gnawing Lerker
area. Same height as the power cell. It is easy to shoot and find.
On the way to the Robot area.
It is harder to shoot, easy to hit, and easy to find.
Near Dark Cave entrance. It
is easy to shoot and find. Use platforms to hit.
Near Dark Cave entrance.
Cross Dark Eco with platforms. You should be able to find some clean water
on the other side of some Dark Eco. You must use the rolling jump (L1
or R1 and jump when you finish rolling) or you cannot get across
the Dark Eco. Swim down and get close enough and it will explode. It is
difficult to get to.
In Dark Cave, after you pass
the second hanging spider and before the first rotating platform. Near the
crystal that is after the second spider, you can find some clean water.
Swim down and get close enough and it will explode.
Hint:
Decipher Precursor writing: You can decipher the Precursor markings on the walls and floor.
You first need to vuew and print the Precursor alphabet from NaughtyDog.com.
Then, go to Gol and Maia's Citadel or Forbidden Forest. At Gol and Maia's
Citadel, go to the elevator and look at the writing on the ring. When
deciphered it reads "Life". At Forbidden Forest, go to the temple.
Once you go down the elevator, look at the ring. It will read the same. To
find another message, look at the ring around any Eco vent. If that is
deciphered, it reads "Power". If you continue deciphering, it will
also read "Power " backwards.
Hint:
Faster game: To get through the game a lot faster. collect all Power Cells in
one area before going on to the next. This will be easier, as once you
defeated Gol and Maia, there is a door that requires 101 Power Cells. It is
best that you collect the Power Cells beforehand so you will not need to go
back and forth to different locations.
Hint:
Shoot the pelican: Remember the pesky pelican at the beach who steals the Power
Cell, and you have to race it to get it? If you utilize the cannon off the
coast, you can actually shoot the pelican, causing him to explode. You will
know if you shot him, as the explosion from the bomb will sound louder than
usual. Just go to the nest, and you will find the Power Cell there. This is
useful if you cannot get the Power Cell before the pelican.
Hint:
Hit Shark Lurker without getting swallowed: Go to the place where the fire boulder gets lifted up so that you
can kill the lava Boss. Jump to the rafts in the water. Jump in and wait for
the sound that the Shark Lurker makes then jump up on the raft. Do not do
this too soon or it will go away before it hits the surface. It will circle
you. Go to the edge of the raft of your choice so that you are about to fall
off. When it approaches, press Circle and you will kick it without
getting swallowed.
Hint:
Good looking attack: First, use L1 to coach then press Square to
uppercut. Then at the bend on top of the jump, press Square again to
dive. Then at the bend again, press Circle to spin and finish the
move. Note: This is hard to use on enemies because it is difficult to aim.
Glitch:
Walking on Sad Guys back: Go on stairs behind him and walk forward.
Glitch:
Stand on Yakkows: After you round up all the Yakkows in their pen for the farmer,
get next to or on top of one. Press Circle and the Yakkow will moo.
Quickly jump on top of it. Instead of hopping off like usual, you will stand
on its back for a little while.
Glitch:
Stand on Points: On Geyser Rock, go straight until you reach the Points, but do
not go over them. Stand slightly away and slowly walk to the Points. If done
correctly, you should be able to stand on one of the Points. Do not move
around a lot or else you will lose a health point.
Glitch:
Still digging up destroyed robot: After defeating Gol and Maia's robot, open the door on top of the
citadel. The game should auto-save during the credits, though the save icon
will not appear. At the title screen, load your saved game. You should be on
top of the citadel, with Gol and Maia gone. Go down the elevator, then go to
the Spider Cave. The easiest way to do this is to use the warp gate outside
the citadel. Once inside the Spider Cave, go to the digging area (where all
the drilling Lurkers and wood platforms are located). You should see Gol and
Maia's robot still being dug up, although it has already been destroyed. You
may also notice that the miners have made no progress in uncovering the
robot.
Glitch:
Free everyone: Once you reach the point where you are at Gol and Maia's citadel,
before you go in and after the scene with Kiera, when you enter it should
start a scene with Samose. Save the game immediately afterwards. Restart the
system. When you load the game, you should be up at the top where Samose is
located. Once you free him, everyone else will automatically be freed as
well. You will then go off to fight Gol and Maia.
