Programmer
save: When starting a new game, enter HCRAYERT as a name
("Treyarch" spelled backwards), then go back and enter any name of
your choice. The game will start in progress, with over 40% completion,
201,000 Hero points, with Swing Speed and Web Zip upgrades, and "Big
Game Hunter", "Alien Buster", "Shock Absorber", and
"Tentacle Wrangler" ranks.
In order for this code to work
correctly, take out your memory card and reset the PlayStation2 so that the
game loads fresh. Enter HCRAYERT as a name, and then select
"Enter". The letters will disappear. Then without leaving that
screen, input any name for the profile and select "Enter" again.
The game will load at the beginning of Chapter 16 (Doc Ock defeated). You
will need to go to the Spidey Store to purchase all the upgrades.
This code has another effect
when used with an existing game. Load your saved game, select "New
Game", then enter HCRAYERT as a name. The game will not allow
you to enter it, but when you exit out of that screen, you will get 201,000
Hero points, all skills cleared, be at the "First Day Of The Rest Of
Your Life", but will still have your token collection and other
progress points intact.
Note: You can repeat this code
as many times as needed to accumulate HP.
Movie
Theatre: After Doc Ock is defeated and the credits finish rolling, Chapter
16 starts and the Movie Theatre can now be bought at the Upgrade Store. The
Movie Theatre upgrade costs 1,000 Hero Points. After you purchase it, swing
over to the movie theatre and activate the Change icon to choose from
Activision Logo, Treyarch Logo, the Credits, and 3 demo videos.
The location of the
"Viceroy Cinema 8" movie theater is marked on the map by an icon
of a movie projector. It is in the southern portion of the main island, in
the middle between Greenwich Village and East Village. The movie theater is
northeast of Mary Jane's apartment in SoHo (the house icon with the letters
"MJ" on it).
Fight
Arena: After Doc Ock is defeated and the credits finish rolling, Chapter
16 starts and the Fight Arena can now be bought at the Upgrade Store. The
Fight Arena upgrade costs 5,000 Hero Points. After you purchase it, swing
over to the Shocker Warehouse near the Lower East Side. Enter the warehouse
through the large bay doors. Go to the main room where the first battle with
Shocker took place. Access the marker to start the fight. At first, only
"Timed Rounds" is available, but playing it to Round 3 unlocks the
Endurance Rounds option. Completing Round 3 unlocks the Boss Rounds option.
The Boss Rounds includes the various villains from the game with thugs.

Swing Speed Level 8 upgrade at the Upgrade Store. The Swing Speed Level 8
upgrade costs 50,000 Hero Points. Using it earns the Speed Freak award.
Hint:
Easier Completion of timed missions: Purchase the level 8 upgrade to your Swing Speed (after
completing Chapter 16) before doing the Pizza Deliveries, Mary Jane, and
Daily Bugle Photo missions. The first few missions are easy, but they will
get progressively more difficult as you will have to go farther with less
time available. Having your Swing Speed fully upgraded to level 8 will make
them easier, although the final missions will still be a challenge.
Hint:
Defeating Beck: When you are about to begin the fight with Beck in the arena, the
first task is very easy. You must find criminals when they appear. To gather
criminals, press Triangle, then Circle. You will grab hold of
him. They are three red stations, and one of them will be green. Put the
criminals only in the green station. Keep in mind that you will have just a
small amount of time to put the criminals in the round-up station. When that
happens, the green station will slowly turn into a red station. Keep doing
this maneuver in order to pass this round in the fighting arena. After you
complete the criminal round-up challenge, you will move on to Beck's
obstacle challenge. When you first begin, run to the end of the hall, and on
a platform with a wall. Press the button and it will go up. Remember, Beck
can shoot you in any place no matter what. The same is also true even when
you are on the ceiling. There are some spots that he can shoot upon.
Hint:
Defeating Calypso: This is only applicable if you have already purchased the Fight
Arena and unlocked the Boss Battle mode. Calypso is, perhaps one of the most
annoying bosses Ever, and defeating her is not much more than a chore. The
best strategy is to chase after her if desired, but you will find she
teleports away soon after you hit her, or before the first hit. The trick is
to find the magic staff that is randomly located throughout the arena, and
punch it so that it stops gyrating. Once you see that it is standing still,
race over to Calypso. You will noticed that she is tired and cannot move.
Take as many hits on her as possible until she regains her strength and
teleports away.
Hint:
Defeating Doc Ock: When you fight Doc Oc for the last time, save up your Spidey
Sense energy. When it gets too full or half-way, let him get close and
active it. This will help you defeat him without losing health. Note: If you
can get good hits on him when three of his four arms are down, you will take
little damage if you are careful.
When facing Doc Ock in the
final battle, stand your ground in a corner and let him approach you. When
he arrives, beware of his tentacles. Dodge them one by one pressing Circle
when Spider- Man's head flashes, then respond to each dodge by pressing Triangle
and shooting a web at the Doc's tentacles to bind them to the wall or the
ground. When all four tentacles are bound to either the ground or the wall,
run towards the Doc by holding L1 then pressing Square,
performing an uppercut which sends the Doc in the air. Then, hold and
release X and continue to press Square rapidly. When the Doc
falls to the ground, continue to perform combos to him by pressing Square,
but beware of his tentacles. Doc Ock will use them to throw you repeatedly.
Web out of there after one combo and move to another corner and repeat the
process until the Doc is defeated.
An easy way to defeat Doc Ock
at either on the train or in his laboratory is to use your Spider reflexes.
By doing this, you will slow down time and can counter his tentacles much
easier. When you run out of juice in your Hero Meter, swing around the area
performing tricks to get the meter refilled. Then, go after Doc Ock once
again.
When fighting on the train with
Doc Ock, go into Spider Sense mode to make it easier. You only have to face
two of his tentacles, but if he gets you, he will see more.
To defeat Doc Ock on the train,
dodge his tentacles then web it. You only need to Web 2. Then, keep hitting
him until he gets free. If you are low on health, go to the Spidey Store and
buy the Full Health. You should have a good amount of Hero Points. You will
not fail the mission and it will be easy to find him again.
The best way to defeat Doc Ock
is to swing and use the kicking ability. If you do not have this ability,
you can always buy it at the Spidey Store. This is very effective and is
safe because Doc Ock cannot hit you while you are swinging in the air.
While battling Doc Ock on the
train, you must manage your hits wisely. When you attack him, make sure that
you do not let him kill you. Then, when you go to your map you will be able
to find a Spidey Store. When you are low on health, you can go to the there
and buy health, no matter where you are on train. Next, keep hitting Doc Ock
until your health is low. Return to the Spidey Store and regain health.
Repeat this until he is defeated. If done correctly, you will then see the
part of the movie when Harry is supposed to kill Spider-Man but is shocked
to learn that he is Peter Parker. When battling Doc Ock, always try to use
your Spidey Senses.
Activate Spider Reflexes
(optional) and dodge his tentacle(s). Uppercut him and just keep hitting
until he gets up. Repeat this until he has been defeated.
Use the following trick to
defeat Doc Ock easily in the last level. In the beginning, stay and wait for
Doc Ock to attack you. When he gets close, press L1 for make slow
motion. When your head flashes, press Circle then Triangle.
This will web one of the legs to the ground. Do this until all four legs are
tied, then go up to him press X to do a little hop then punch him
while airborne. This does a lot more damage. After you attack him for some
time, he gets loose. Quickly move away and wait. Ignore everything else
other than Spider-Man's head. The moment it flashes, press Circle
then Triangle. Do this for all four legs then attack him again. Your
slow motion will be full again, and you can use it to repeat the process
until he is defeated.
The easiest way to defeat Doc
Ock is by dodging and attacking. If you want a challenge and are an expert,
try it. The timing may require some time to master. You must press Circle
to dodge then immediately press Triangle to web his tentacles. Note:
His arms will eventually break free of the webbing after awhile; you must do
this quickly.
Hint:
Defeating Mysterio at the Speedy Mart: When you are fighting Mysterio at the Speedy Mart, the battle is
very short. Just punch him a few times to defeat him and prepare yourself to
reveal Mysterio's true identity.
When fighting Mysterio at the
Speedy Mart, simply execute a Sprinting Uppercut (L2 + Square).
This will knock off his head piece to reveal who he really is.
To defeat Mysterio at the
Speedy Mart, just hit him once.
Punch Mysterio two or three
times. He will fall over, and his helmet will get smashed, revealing his
true identity.
Hint:
Defeating Mysterio at the Statue Of Liberty: First, charge up your jump meter and swing from one alien ship to
another until you get to the main base with the Orbs. From there, swing from
the poles connected to the Orbs. Target the Orbs then charge your Jump meter
and speed up your Swing Speed with L1 to get close to or under the
Orb. Then, attack it and repeat for the rest of the Orbs. When you finally
destroy all of the Orbs, swing onto the center platform and use Spider
Reflex. The fan is already slowed, but Spider Reflex slows it down even
more. From here, jump up and hit the plant-looking thing. You may need to
destroy the Orbs again if you do not defeat Mysterio fast enough.
Hint:
Defeating Rhino: When Rhino tries to hit you, there will be a flash above
Spider-Man's head. Press Circle when this happens. When Rhino stops
spinning, he will be dizzy. Punch him until he recovers, then he will charge
at you. Jump over him. Do not punch or web him. If you web him you will get
hurt. If you punch him it will not have any affect because there is metal
around his body.
When fighting Rhino, a flash
appears above Spider-Man's head. Dodge his attacks and when he is dizzy,
turn on the spider senses and hit him. When he recovers, dodge his attacks
and repeat the process.
After you defeat Rhino (when
Spider-Man hangs him upside down from the building), you can jump up and
attack him to hear him say "That's not fair!!," along with a few
more remarks.
Hint:
Defeating Shocker: To defeat Shocker the second time that you fight him, climb up
the wall directly across from Black Cat and press the switch. The force
field will deactivate. Then, charge towards Shocker. Stay away from the
middle, as Shocker will stay on the sides. Uppercut him into the air. Jump
up and do an air combo. He will fall down. Charge him again and do the same
thing. This time he will start to charge for a blast. Run away and do
charged jump as far from him as possible. The force field will turn on
again. Repeat the strategy from beginning. When Shocker loses about half of
his life, Black Cat will shut down the force field for good.
Hint:
Defeating armored power suits: If you defeat the power suits the first time sometimes people
will tell you that they are attacking random people. If there are two or
more, do not worry. First, attack the one that is in the way of another
power suit's fire. If your health is low, at least one purple crime is going
on go to it and beat it. If it is a mugging, gang war, etc., wrap up
everybody in webbing. Grab one person and swing to a tall building. It does
not have to be that tall. Swing, turbo, charge jump, and release X at
the top of the jump. Turn and repeat until you get to the top. Repeat and
when all opponents are defeated, you will get Hero Points and health. Go
back and fight them by using the same tactic. Until there is one remaining,
stay behind him and attack him. When you defeat them all, you will get 500
Hero Points and health.
If you find yourself low in
health when fighting the power suits, find a quick thug fight or store to
charge up your health. Also, if you lead them just right, they will destroy
each other until there is only one remaining. Then lock on, and stay behind
them.
Jump near an armored power suit
and pressing Square, X. Spider-Man will kick off the power
suit. You might get hit once or twice, but it works. Keep moving and do not
stand still.
To defeat the power suits, try
to pick off everybody one-by-one. Start in a "safe" position (the
roof of the warehouse and outside of the walls that surround the place work
well.) Run around in your safe position or jump on the ground and try to get
one suit or a human to chase you. Lead them into the alley in-between the
warehouse and the wall. If you are picking off a human, use your impact
webbing (hold L1 press Triangle) then grapple him (Triangle
+ Circle). Once you are holding him, jump back into your safe
position and defeat him. Repeat this. It is recommended that you pick off
the humans first because they are faster and easier to take care of. For
power suits, try to get them stuck in the alley and destroy them before
another suit can rescue them.
Get to a far distance between
them. Align them so there is one in front. Let them shoot at you while you
press Dodge. The two in front will get shot, and will eventually be
defeated by the first one. When there is only one remaining, get behind him
and hit him. Stay behind him as he moves and turns around. Continue this
until you defeat him.
Hint:
Defeating blocking thugs: The best way to defeat blocking thugs is to buy the Whirlwind
Kick. This will hurt multiple thugs plus the one you are already fighting.
It covers a lot of distance and is very strong.
Climb up on a wall enough to
web them up. Then press Triangle to web them up. Press Left
Analog-stick Up to sling them up there, and press Square
repeatedly until the thug is defeated.
Hint:
Defeating green robots: When you reach Chapter 15, when you battle the green robots you
must defeat two or three of them. To defeat them easily, swing back and
forth. Eventually they will kill their teammates. When there is just one
remaining, go down and kill him.
Hint:
Defeating Bosses: When facing the Rhino or other Bosses, press Up to make
everything slow down except yourself. This move also allows you to punch and
hit much more effectively.
Hint:
Defeating enemies: To defeat enemies that block your attacks, have guns, or dodge
your web, use the Web Splash maneuver (L2 + Triangle). This
will quickly cover them up with webbing and will make them easier to defeat.
To defeat enemies easily, just
throw them off a high building. Use an easy combo such as L1 + Square,
then Charge Jump and press Square repeatedly, or just use L1 +
Square frequently.
Note: You must first purchase
the level 3 and level 4 Air Combo attack. When fighting an opponent, first
Web Splash them (L2, Triangle) then immediately go up to them
and press Square, X, Square(6). This should easily kill
an opponent.
Hint:
Following Black Cat: In the missions where you have to follow Black Cat, try not to
swing from building to building because you will not be very accurate and
fall too far behind. Instead, try flinging yourself from building to
building. To do this, hold the X (Jump) and when it is fully charged,
also hold L2 (Turbo). Then, still holding L2 + X, run
to the edge of the building and release X, but continue to hold L2.
This will fling Spider-Man farther than just jumping, and is much more
accurate than swinging. Also, if you are just about to land on a building,
but are slightly short of making it to the top, try using the zip line (L2,
R2) when you can still see the top of the building. Note: You must
buy the zip line first. It should attach to the top and zip you over.
Hint:
Beck's obstacle course: After you complete Beck's criminal round up, you will move on to
the obstacle course. Keep in mind that Beck can hit you wherever you are.
Even on the ceiling there are spots he can get a shot at you.
Hint:
Saving the reporters from Mysterio: When you start the level, you are on the top of the Daily Bugle.
Charge your jump and sprint towards the destination marker and begin
swinging. When Spider-Man says "The conference is starting, I'm going
to be late", you should be near a black building with green lights
behind it. The green lights are the conference hall. Sprint through the
center of this building and start swinging to the right. The entrance is on
the right hand side. Sprint into the building and directly to the stairs.
Sprint up the right-hand side to the top floor and in the second door on
your left. Note: Jumping up floors saves a few seconds, but do not wait to
charge your jump. When you enter the room, there will be an intermission
sequence of Spiderman meeting Mysterio, and two reporters hanging from the
balconies. Save the one on the right first, since he is closest to falling.
When you pull him to you by pressing Triangle, charge your jump and
sprint towards the balcony that you came in on. When you reach the edge of
the balcony, release Jump. The jump alone will not get you there.
When you start to fall, cast a web and swing onto the balcony. Press Triangle
to put the reporter down. Repeat this for the reporter on the left. When you
have safely rescued the two falling reporters, go back to the balcony on the
right. There should be another reporter on that balcony. Repeat the steps
for saving the falling reporters. Swing down to the stage and fight off some
of Mysterio's alien flyers Note: Your web attacks will not have any effect
on the flyers, however your normal attacks will. Grab one of the reporters
and charge a jump. When your jump is fully charged, jump straight up. When
at your full height, cast a web and wait for it to stop swinging. Repeat
this until at maximum height. Start swinging towards one of the two
balconies that the reporters were on. If you are not high enough, charge a
jump and release. Repeat this for the other two reporters, then finish of
the flyers. An intermission sequence will start, and you will have completed
the level.
Hint:
Saving Aunt May from Doc Ock: First, fail the mission by losing Ock. Then when you restart the
mission next to the helicopter, Web Swing and try to attach a Web Swing to
the helicopter.
It is much easier to web swing
to the helicopter, or make your web attach to the chopper. All you have to
do is dodge the buildings. It is also possible to attach you web to other
choppers that are just flying around in the city.
Hint:
Crossing the Brooklyn Bridge: To get across the Brooklyn Bridge, swing under it, if you have
not defeating Shocker for the final time.
Hint:
Reaching Liberty and Ellis Islands: The only way to get to Liberty Island and/or Ellis Island is to
hitch a ride on the patrolling helicopters that surround the islands. To do
this, stand on the edge of the Manhattan island where you can see the Statue
Of Liberty and the other island (Ellis Island). Then, look up and watch for
helicopters. They are much easier to spot in the daylight hours, and may
only appear during this time. Then, charge-jump and web-sling to attach to
one. Wait for it to get close to the island and/or the other helicopter. You
will know when to make the jump for the islands.
When you must get to Liberty
Island, keeping swinging to the island until you see eight little red dots.
Then, drop into the water and you will float all the way over to the island.
To get to the Statue Of Liberty
from Quentin Becks, first jump hard then keep web swinging from the UFO.
While doing that, keep jumping and getting boost by pressing L2 at
the bottom of a swing. Keep doing this, even when you fall.
Hint:
Destroying Orbs at the Statue Of Liberty: First, attach to one of Mysterio's "UFOs" and it will
fly you high up. Jump off and Websling around until you are close enough to
an Orb to Webzip toward it. Once there, you will remain floating. Just use a
simple punch attack to destroy it.
Hint:
First Encounter: Saving Doc Ock: First, wait until the field goes inward then attack the computer.
Quickly get back to dodge the field coming towards you. Do not forget to use
your Spider Sense to avoid the bolts. Then, charge your jump until it is
full, sprint with L1, and quickly jump through the opening to the
other computer and destroy it. Then, watch for the new pattern in the
movement of the field. When the field is going inward, Charge Jump through
the opening again. Repeat this until you successfully destroy all of the
computers.
At the start of the level,
destroy the first computer. Then, look to the left or right. Wait until the
plasma blast goes down, then turn on the Spider Reflex modes (slow motion)
and dive forward into the corner, but not all the way. Once there, destroy
the computer, then repeat.
Hint:
Mysterio's Apartment: Exiting Wall Of Mirrors: Go up to a mirror and punch it three times as the clone is coming
out. Then, beat the clone up. Using a Web Ball (L2 + Triangle)
works well. Be very careful to only approach one mirror at a time, as the
Spider-Man clones that appear are very difficult to defeat if there are too
many. Repeat this until you find the door that you can use to exit.
Approach a mirror and break the
glass as the twisted reflection comes out. Continue breaking mirrors until
you see a beam come from the broken mirror to the ceiling. Once you find a
beam, break every third mirror to find all the beams. When all beams are
showing, the exit will be revealed.
When in the fun house on
Mysterio's level, at the mirrors walk around the room until you get about
four clones out. No more can now appear. Run around and break all of the
mirrors. Then, defeat the four clones.
A simple way to find an exit is
to skip busting up all the mirrors, and instead wait until you find one that
emits a ray of energy into the middle of the room. Once you have found this
one, skip every other two and break the third one from it. This way, you
will fight less clones and find the door faster.
In the third stage of the
second meeting of Mysterio, you will find yourself in a room full of
mirrors. Quickly punch the mirrors as soon as possible. If you are not fast
enough, clones of yourself will come out of the mirrors. It may help if the
"Super Punch" has been unlocked, which will break the mirrors on
the first hit. You can also press Up to slow down the game. The
eyeball on the floor moves around, which can only be attacked by your Spidey
clones when the eyeball is under you; move as quickly as possible.
Hint:
Arcade mini-games: There are four mini-games at the Arcade: Dodge Hall, Directional
Attack, Web Attack, Air Combo. Enter the Arcade, then go to the back of the
room. Press Square to activate the marker to start the Dodge Hall
mini-game. Complete round 3 to unlock the Directional Attack mini-game
(which is more of a tutorial). In the Directional Attack mini-game, follow
it as instructed to unlock the Web Attack mini-game. This is also basically
just a tutorial. In the Web Attack mini-game, follow it as instructed to
unlock the Air Combo mini-game.
Hint:
Reaching the arcade: Go to Han's Pizzeria (the pizza icon on the map). Stand facing
the front door and the neon sign (so that you see Spider-Man's back). Turn
to your left and go down the street past the blue star icon for Race 95 and
continue pst the first intersection. Go to the second intersection at the
end of the grassy area (across the street is the blue star icon for Race
96). Stay on the side with the grassy area, and turn left. Go down the
sidewalk with the grassy area on your left until you reach the T-shaped
intersection. Cross the street and continue going straight, past the
white/gray awnings. On your left side is an alley. In that alley is a
storefront with green-trimmed windows. Go into this alley and you will reach
the entrance to the Arcade. Above the Arcade door is a sign depicting an old
Atari-style controller. Note: The Arcade is a location used at the very
beginning of the game during the tutorial narrated by Bruce Campbell.
Hint:
Peter Parker's apartment: If you are looking for Peter's apartment, start at M.J.'s place
in Soho and go down until you are in Greenwich Village. Take a left and go
down until you are in a park. Keep going straight down until you are at a
building. Climb it and come back down on the other side. Once there, look on
the mini-map on the bottom right corner and look for a shining white
rectangle. Go up and down the street until it appears. Go to it. You will
see three balconies in two rows. In the first row, in the middle one is
Peter Parker's apartment.
Hint:
Getting upgrades: When you are in need of more moves, fly around the city and look
for buildings with a web-like top on them. Sometimes the buildings will be
very small and are white, which may make the web almost invisible. There are
also different color webs, which will make the web more visible on your map
in the lower right side of the screen. Inside of one of those stores, you
will see a gold spinning decal which you should "open up". This
will bring you to the upgrade screen, where you can spend your Hero Points
to get other attacks and much more.
Hint:
Vulture Lair: When you reach a hole in the netting you will reach a open space.
Advance Web it.
Hint:
Finding hideouts: Look on your mini-map. You will see some buildings highlighted in
red or green. These are the buildings that you can enter (flower shops,
jewelry stores, mini marts, cafes, doughnut shops, book stores, bars,
restaurants, disco clubs, gyms, banks, warehouses, and a five lane bowling
alley). The ones that are green on your mini map are safe, but the red ones
usually have enemies inside (also Hideout tokens). Note: The enemies in
these hideouts are not average criminals; they are very strong and excellent
fighters.
Hint:
Hint Marker comment: One of the Hint Markers in the city will tell you "When you
manage to hit all the Hint Makers they will all say something
different". Once you hit all the Hint Markers they will all literally
say "Something different".
Hint:
Easy Skyscraper Tokens: Go to the map of the city and look very closely at the buildings.
You will see little gold dots on top of the buildings. They represent the
token locations.
Hint:
Easy Hideout Tokens: On your map in the lower right hand corner, locate all the
buildings with a pink top. This is where you can enter and get your goodies.
Some are a little difficult to find -- be alert.
When starting a new game, on
Chapter 2 when you get to a certain point Peter will say something about
meeting Mary Jane. There will be a location marker, but no time limit. There
will also be no enemies, allowing you to go in a hideout without having to
fight, get the Hideout Token, and leave. Note: This should work on any level
where there is a major location marker without a time limit.
Hint:
Easy Hero Points: In the street crime mission where you must fight off thugs
stealing money from the armored van, untie the officers that are kneeling
next to the van by using Action. You will earn an additional 50 Hero
Points for each officer you untie. However, make sure you untie them before
you get too far away and the game removes their presence.
Go to Mary Jane's apartment and
select. She will give you a message. Get to the place that Mary Jane tells
you to go within the posted time limit. You usually will get about 1,000 or
more Hero Points each time. Her apartment is in SoHo. Use the map to find
it. You can keep doing this repeatedly.
Go to the place were you can
deliver pizza, or if you have completed the game, go to the Spidey Store and
buy the Fighting Arena for 500 Hero Points. Go to the arena and you will be
able to win a lot of hero points.
Usually when you complete the
missions where you stop thugs from holding up an armored car, everything
adds up to about 100 to 200 points. To get more, knock out all the thugs
first. The screen will show how many points you have obtained. Once you
collect the health, untie the police officers. Each officer is worth 50
points each. If you do this, you would get 100 points more than what you
would have normally obtained.
Hint:
Fill Style meter faster: Using the "Spider Reflexes" ability drains your Style
meter (the blue bar). You can refill the Style meter by performing the Air
Tricks combos, but they will only add a little bit to the blue bar each
time. To fill the Style meter faster, avoid hitting buildings while you are
swinging around and doing the Air Tricks. The more Air Tricks you string
together without bumping into buildings, the faster your meter will be
refilled. When you bump into a building while swinging, it stops the Style
meter from being refilled and you have to start another string of Air
Tricks. If you are going too fast and cannot avoid slamming into a building,
try going into a Wall Sprint just as you make contact with the wall, then
leap off the wall into a swing. If done correctly, you will not break your
Air Tricks combo.
At almost any point in the
game, if your Style meter is low, press Select to check your map.
Find the tallest building on the island, or the tallest building closest to
you. Climb up, jump off, and at the last moment, swing. Note: If you are
jumping from one of the taller buildings and you do not swing, you will die.
Also, if you want a nice ride, find the tallest building, climb to the top,
charge your jump, sprint of the top, and jump at the last moment. If done
correctly, you will get a much longer jump.
Dodging rapid shots such as
those from Doc Ock or the armored suits from the auction can build up your
Hero Meter's much faster than air tricks.
Hint:
Fill Spidey Sense: When you need more Spider Sense, get in a fight and just keep
blocking their attacks. When the flashing blue light gets filled up, leave
and you will have a full Spidey Sense.
Hint:
Farther web swings: When you are swinging, hold L1 + X. Release when
you are about to get make another web shot come out. This will make you go
farther.
Hint:
Swing faster: If you want to swing faster on challenges (for example, when you
must meet Doc-Ock and get to his hideout), hold L1 until you get high
enough, then release, wait a second, then repeat.
Hint:
Loop swinging: To do a loop swing, press R1 to swing. About half way
through the swing, hold L1. Spider-Man will swing in a loop over the
anchor of his webline. This will work well with objects such as cranes. You
can also do this with a double web swing. Instead, just press R1(2),
but hold it down the second time, then hold L1. This move can results
in more jump distance.
Hint:
Web Rodeo: To execute a Web Rodeo, shoot a web at an enemy so that you have
them webbed up and a line attached to them. While the line is still
attached, quickly start rotating the Left Analog-stick in a circle to
spin the enemy around Spider-Man's head in a circle. Keep rotating the Left
Analog-stick as long as you want to maintain the Web Rodeo. The
animation of Spider-Man swinging the enemy around moves slower than the
speed you need to rotate the Left Analog-stick.
Hint:
Neck Throw: This attack will knock back an enemy, Press Web, Attack,
Grab. Spidey will do the yank kick, then grab them by the neck and
jump, flip, then throw them.
Hint:
Web Spin: This is a clearing attack that will knock back the enemy. Press Attack,
Web(2). Spidey will do the Web Trip, then take the line he tripped
him with, spin around once (knocking down surrounding enemies), then let go
and fling them away.
Hint:
Spidey-go-round: Go to the point where the Twin Towers memorial is located. Jump
up and web until you get attached to the flag pole. Then, start swinging in
a circle while pressing L2 to go faster. Doing this will make Spidey
go in circles faster and faster like a merry-go-round. This also works with
enemies.
Hint:
Run up a wall: Sprint toward a wall. When you are close, press Circle to
keep running up it. Press X then Circle and keep repeating
this until you are reach the top of the wall.
When crawling on a building,
hold L2 for turbo, press X, then immediately press Circle
while still holding L2. Spider-Man should start to run. Note: After
pressing X then Circle, wait until he slows down. When he does
press X then Circle again. Note: You must be crawling with
turbo to start to run.
Hint:
Faster wall running: When running up a wall and are about to fall, quickly press X
and hold Circle. You will go faster for a moment. Keep doing this
until you get up the wall.
Hint:
Holding Air Tricks longer: After purchasing the Air Tricks upgrades (jump off of a swing and
press X repeatedly), you can press X quickly to perform the
aerial acrobatic moves quickly one after the other, or hold X to
maintain an Air Trick longer. Holding an Air Trick longer will gain more
style points for the style meter (the blue bar). You can mix it up by
quickly pressing X a few times, then holding X to maintain the
last Air Trick.
Hint:
No blocks from normal crooks: Web-hang normal crooks and they will not block. You can easily
take their weapon and attack them. However, if you take too long they will
fall off the light post. You must be near a light post or you will not be
able to hang them. The combo to do this is Square(2), Triangle,
X and it must be bought from the Spidey Store. You can also practice
your fighting in the air with them hanging.
Hint:
Free fall: In order to free fall you must first be on top of a building.
Just run or walk off and you should form a diving position. If you were high
enough, the game should shake and you can see the speed. You can do this
with the construction worker that you were supposed to "save" from
falling off of the building, but when you land you will just roll and the
construction worker will not be affected. Note: Sometime when you free fall
you will lose health if you hit the ground head on.
Hint:
Survive big falls: You can survive a big fall by getting close enough to the wall of
a building, doing a Wall Sprint, and go down.
After you jump off a high
building, get close to the wall. If you go too fast, keep pressing the Left
Analog-stickToward the wall to slow down.
Hint:
Save health: When doing a long jump, hold L1 to do a roll to save your
health.
Hint:
Avoiding bad cop aim: When the cops need your help and are being fired at, they will
fire at you instead of the bad guys. Do more Spider Sense mode to dodge.
Hint:
Stupid robots: The robots in the chemical level can be dumb. When you are in the
room near the security grid after shutting down the C and D control panels,
hide in the shadows in the room next to the grid room. You can eliminate as
many robots as desired and they will never notice you. This is an easy way
to earn points. When you are done, just jump down and run to shut it down.
Hint:
Getting better moves and awards faster: Always do a lot of crime fighting while not fighting Bosses in
order to be able to buy all of the moves after each chapter. By doing this,
you can do a variety of moves against Bosses and other enemies.
Hint:
Hang a thug on a streetlight: If you are in a street fight and need to hang up thugs for a
little while, press Square(2), Triangle, Circle at a
thug . This will hang him up onto a lamp post. You have to make sure that
you are near a lamppost in the first place.
First, get your opponent webbed
up very well. Then, get your opponent into a grapple (for example, Triangle
+ Square). Once this has been done, move the D-pad or Left
Analog-stickLeft to Right while holding Triangle.
Doing this causes Spider-Man to toss his opponent back and forth over his
head into the ground or another nearby object. After you feel you have
beaten them a decent amount, press Square. Do not let your opponent
go free from Spider-Man's grapple hold. Doing this causes Spider-Man to jump
up and tie them up to an object. Note: This trick will only work if you are
near a lamppost, traffic light, etc.
To hang a thug on a street
light and get credit for it in the game stats menu, they must be
unconscious. After you defeat an enemy, go to their unconscious body and
quickly press Square(2), Triangle, X to execute the Web
Hanger combo. This will punch the thug twice, web them up, and slam them.
Then, jump up to the nearest streetlight and hang them upside down. Note:
The Web Hanger combo is an upgrade that must be purchased during or after
Chapter 11, and costs 2,500 Hero Points.
Hint:
Save thugs for later: Buy Grapple at the Spidey Store. Find the small glass building.
Find some regular thugs, grapple them, then throw them in. You can now fight
them later.
Hint:
Interesting kills: Get to a rooftop (preferably at the Statue Of Liberty). This is
useful at heliports or rooftop robberies. Stun an enemy with a Web Blast
then reel them in with the move bought at the Spidey Store. Then, throw them
off.
When on the ground, stun an
enemy with a Web Blast then reel them in with the move bought at the Spidey
Store. Find a barrier separating land from water, such as the one by the
pizza parlor. Then, throw him from a short distance. If done correctly, you
should hear their head hit the barrier and they will tumble in.
Stun all enemies, disarm them
all, reel one in, and throw him at the others. Also, try swinging, etc. to
see how many you can get in one shot. .
When you only have one opponent
to kill, grapple him (if already bought from the Spidey Store) and go to the
highest building. Sling yourself off the building and pile drive him (if
already bought from the Spidey Store) with Circle while you are in
the air with him in your arms. After you slam his head in the concrete he
should be instantly killed.
Hint:
Human punching bag: Tie a enemy to a lamp post using the Web Hanger move. You can
then just beat them up until you get tired of doing so.
Hint:
Continue beating: After defeating a criminal after a crime, you can keep beating on
him until you leave.
Hint:
Use bodies as weapons: Whenever you have defeated an enemy, you can still swing them
around and hit other enemies within range.
Hint:
Use enemy's weapons: When you have taken a gun or wrench out of a random thug's hands,
they will say something like "Hey, give that back". After they
have said this, run over to the weapon. Spider-Man should pick it up. This
does not happen often, but when it does press Square to hit or shoot
the enemy with it. The weapon will disappear after that mission.
Hint:
Walk on the ground with hands up in the air: Swing in the air but very low. When you touch the ground, do not
let go.
Hint:
Unlimited Spider Reflexes: To do this trick, you must first purchase the Bicycle Kick that
can only be performed in "Spider Reflexes". When in a fight turn
on the "Spider Reflexes" and perform the Bicycle Kick to an enemy.
When Spider Man goes down to the ground getting ready to launch the enemy
into the air, quickly turn off the "Spider Reflexes". Spider Man
will continue through with the combo, but he no longer be draining his
"Spider Reflexes" bar. Once the barrage of kicking starts,
remember to continue the kicking as long as possible. Every kick will refill
some of your "Spider Reflexes".
Hint:
Perpetual Wallsprint: If you have perfect timing, when you Wallsprint, charge your jump
and as soon as you release it, a split second later do a Wallsprint again.
Note: It is a good idea to get better upgrades to make you faster.
Hint:
Big drop: In order to get a big drop larger than that from the Empire State
Building, become skilled with the mid-air fight. When in a fight with any
ordinary thug, begin yanking him into the air, hitting him then bouncing up
into the air even higher then before. Repeat this technique even after the
thug has been defeated. Once you have gotten as high as you would like, fall
back down zip lining at the last possible moment. The drop will not count if
you die. You will be surprised how high you can get with practice. Note:
There is a limit, and if you go too high the game will glitch -- you will
see a loading screen and you will appear out of one of the bodies of water.
Hint:
Air Pile Driver kill: Purchase the Web Grapple and Air Pile Driver techniques from the
Spidey Store. Watch for a petty crime (purple icon) that is on the top of a
building. Once you get there, the game will tell you to stop the thieves.
Defeat all of the thugs (or throw them off the roof) except for one. Tie the
final thug with your Web Missile (L2 + Triangle ) then get him
in the Web Grapple (Triangle + Circle). Move to the edge of
the building with the thug and jump off. Once you jump off, press Circle
and Spider-Man with do the Air Pile Driver all the way down to the floor.
Spider-Man will not get hurt, and it kills the thug instantly.
Hint:
Web hanger: Another way to web hang an enemy is to first grapple them (Triangle,
Circle)., then use the Multi Web Hammer (bought from the Spidey
Store). After the last hit, quickly press X to hang up the enemy.
Hint:
Mean parents: Swing around for awhile until a kid lets go of their balloon.
Return the balloon to the kid and watch them and their parent for a few
seconds. The parent should run away, leaving the kid on their own to skip
after them. Sometimes this causes major road accidents.
Hint: Spider-Man:
The Movie references: Certain building can be referenced to the first Spider-Man game.
For example, the skyscraper where you have the final fight with the Vulture
in the first game can also be found in the second game. The bridge where you
fought the Green Goblin can also be found in the game, but you cannot pass
about halfway on it to the next city. Also, the bridge that the Green Goblin
tries to blow-up and you must save is also in this game.
Between Midtown and Gramercy is
a building with a green point at the end of it. It is the second tallest
building right after the Empire State Building. If you there, on top you
will see feathers from the previous game, when you fought Vulture.
Near Time Square there is a
billboard that reads "CHAOS Skywriting Service". This is a
reference to the first game, where if you moved the camera around you would
see the word "CHAOS" written in the sky.
Hint:
Original Spider-Man theme song: During the fight against the Spider-Man clones in the room of
mirrors in Mysterio's apartment, listen carefully to the sounds played when
you punch one of your clones. Each time you punch them, a note of the
original Spider-Man theme is played. The best way to hear it fully is to
sprint, then press Attack while approaching a clone. This will cause
Spider-Man do an uppercut on the clone, and both of you will go up into the
air (however, sometimes you will not). When you are in the air, keep
pressing Attack. Spider-Man will punch the clone more often than if
he was on the ground. By doing this, you can hear more of the theme.
Hint:
Art references: During Chapter 3, after meeting with Mary Jane and seeing
burglars, run into the art museum and defeat them. An intermission sequence
showing two or three of them unconscious at a time will begin. Each villain
is laying in a pose of actual famous art. For example, the last two burglars
are in the same pose as Adam and God in Michelangelo's "Last
Judgement" from the Sistine Chapel ceiling.
Hint:
Comic reference: During certain Bugle missions Robby will say "We had Eddie
out all week with no luck". Eddie refers to Eddie Brock, who became
Venom.
Hint:
The Distillers reference: Travel to the Garment District and find the two big storage
tanks. The wall across the street has graffiti with the name of the band who
sung the game's theme song, The Distillers.
Hint: A
Clockwork Orange reference: When confronting a group of thugs, sometimes one will shout
"Time for a little of the old Ultra Violence", which was a line
from the movie A Clockwork Orange.
Hint:
Mysterio's references:
"Give me your tired,
your poor, your huddled masses so I may enslave them all." is an
altered version of the saying on the Statue Of Liberty,
"Klaatu Verada
Nicto" is spoken in movies "The Day The Earth Stood Still"
and "Army Of Darkness".
"You have no chance to
survive make your time" is a line from the Sega Genesis game Zero
Wing, which also originated the "All your base are belong to
us" phrase.
When fighting Mysterio at the
Statue Of Liberty he will say "I control your horizontal and your
vertical", which is a line from the television show "The Outer
Limits".
In Mysterio's Funhouse of
Doom, there is a room full of mirrors. When fighting the distorted
Spider-Men, sooner or later Mysterio says, "Soon I will regenerate
this whole city to my will".
After you get to the main
control room of Mysterio's secret base, look at the rack of clothing in the
corner to the right. You will see a green cape, along with a green costume.
This is the Mysterio costume from the original Spider-Man comic and
television cartoon.
Hint:
Twin Towers location: The very accurately New York City. It is actually possible to
find the lights pointed to the sky that replaced the Twin Towers. It is
located on the southwestern side of the city near the coast. It will be
found in a big space on the map, and its a lot easier to see at night when
the lights are on.
The memorial lights
representing the Twin Towers can be easily found by using the map and
swinging to the Financial District. Look for a large open space, which is
Ground Zero.
Hint:
Villain posters: In the Spidey store in Chinatown, when you walk in on the left
are posters with various enemies such as Mysterio, Lizard, Kraven, Calypso,
etc.
Hint:
Sports arena posters: When you face off against Beck in the sports arena (Madison
Square Garden), there are several posters around. They all have something to
do with Quentin Beck. One of them reads "Radio Active Cop", one of
Beck's movies, "The Amazing Me", Quentin Beck's Biography, and on
the top seats of the arena are posters that read, Hero "Quentin
Beck" Real, and the last one reads, "Quentin Beck: Crime
Fighter". There is also one that reads, "Super Hero
Challenge".
Glitch:
Defeat Doc Ock instantly: If you are having trouble beating Doc Ock for the first time
inside the bank, keep using the sprint uppercut on him. When he is at about
three quarters health, you will instantly kill him.
Glitch:
Spinning car rims: After completing the game, go to the movie gallery and get the
camera angle near the road. Then, select the icon and exit out. Once a car
drives by, pause game play. The car will have spinning rims.
Glitch:
How to swing on air: Go to Liberty Island. Go on the left side on the place that is
shaped like a "T", then swing. Do not jump off of the web or you
will hit the water. If you jump off the "T", it will not work.
Glitch:
No pedestrians: In the sinking boat missions you must save everyone and place all
but one on the ground. Take the pedestrian that you are still carrying and
go on top of the Empire State Building by wallsprinting and swinging. Go to
the top level (the one under the top) and put him down there. He will thank
you and walk off building. Once you go back down, there will be no people or
green question marks. You can still find some in the purple dot missions,
and that will bring all the people back.
Glitch:
Stuck in bank: At the start of Chapter 11, when you go to meet Aunt May at the
bank, you can go inside the bank before you go on the roof. If you go inside
too far however, the door will close, and the game will not let you out.
Glitch:
Aliens: When you fight Mysterio's aliens (as a regular mission on the
streets of Manhattan, not in the conference room where you have to save the
reporters), look at the small map in the bottom right corner. No matter high
the aliens are, the map always shows red dots as though they were on the
ground.
Please
select the first letter of the game's title below. If the word
"The" appears at the start of a title, ignore it and search for
the second word in the title:
