Random
message: Go to "Settings" at the main menu, then press Y
to create a new profile. Enter .fortune (note the period character)
as a name. As soon as you enter the last letter of the name, a strange
random message will appear. Every time you enter this name, you will get a
different message. ".fortune" is a reference to a feature on the
Linux/Unix operating system.
Alternate
ending sequence: Complete the final level of the game in campaign mode under the
legendary difficulty setting. The new ending features a human and alien
fighting hand to hand. The human will say "Its over", and then
they hug because they know the explosion will kill them both. Also, the FMV
sequence of each battle scene will be slightly longer.
Alternate
dialogue: Playing under the legendary difficulty setting will introduce new
dialogue not heard in other modes. For example, after being massacred by a
force of Grunts, Jackals and Elites, one of the grunts asks, "Can I
have his helmet?". Also, your fellow Marines seem to be a bit more
chatty (as well as profane).
Under the legendary difficulty
setting, view the entire first FMV sequence. During the sequence, the
General says things very differently when compared to the sequence under the
easy difficulty setting.
Final
ending scene: Successfully complete the game on any difficulty setting and wait
for the credits to end. The game will show the Monitor fly across the screen
and laugh.
Missions
343
Guilty Spark: Active camouflage:
Immediately before the area where the Covenant are guarding the entrance to
the facility containing the Flood disease, you will see a large rock on the
right side of the screen. Jump above the rock to find an active camouflage
hidden behind a bush -- look carefully.
343
Guilty Spark: Shortcut:
Tap X to get back in the Pelican. It will fly onto a ledge. Walk
along the ledge in the direction you are going to end up above the tunnel
where the Marines are fighting. Jump down to the tunnel, then continue the
level.
At the beginning of the short
intermission sequence, hold L. At the start of the mission, you will
throw a Plasma Grenade into the swamp. This is an easier way to stay in the
Pelican. When you land on the high ledge, travel forward from behind the
Pelican's crash site until you are looking down at the base. You will know
if you are going the wrong way if you see an unarmed Marine. This is a
faster way of getting to the base, and you save ammunition.
As the opening sequence starts,
keep throwing grenades. When you throw your first plasma grenade, do not
press any trigger. You should now be stuck inside the ship. When the ship
lands, proceed in the direction that the ship is facing. When you get to a
cliff, look down to find the building that you are supposed to enter.
343
Guilty Spark: Hidden area:
This trick works in co-op multi-player mode and perhaps in campaign mode.
When you are about to land in the Pelican at in the beginning of the level,
start throwing grenades as fast as you can out of the ship. When you are
around your fifth, sixth, or seventh grenade, you will get hit with a
grenade, but not take any damage. When you are out of grenades, wait in the
ship. It will liftoff the ground and fly you to a strange area with two
dimensional trees. You can see the edge of the level. You can get back to
the normal level easily, by jumping down from where you are.
343
Guilty Spark: Hidden Marine: Go to the two dimensional place and keep walking straight until
reaching a sort of wall. Walk along the side of it, then take a left once
you get past it. Keep walking straight. You will notice a figure in the
distance. Keep walking forward and it will turn out to be a Marine.
At the start of the level,
during the opening FMV sequence press the grenade button before you get out
of the Pelican. If done correctly, you will stay in the Pelican. It will
land on a nearby hill. Press X to exit the Pelican. You will be able
to walk around on top of the level and see a group of two dimensional trees
and a marine. He will not talk to you unless you shoot him. If you look
down, you can see were you are supposed to be and the structure you are
supposed to enter. Jump down there and look in to see floating assault
rifles.
343
Guilty Spark: Dead Marines:
When you first enter the structure, go down the huge elevator. When you
reach the bottom, kill the Jackals and Grunts by the door then go back to
the elevator. Reactivate it. It will take you back up into the swamp. Exit
the structure and go towards the Shade Gun. Next to it will be several dead
Marines. Continue walking through the forest and you will encounter even
more dead Marines. In total, you will probably find about twenty of them.
343
Guilty Spark: Marine identification: In the beginning of the level when you walk over the log, look at
your radar. There is a yellow blip (friendly unit) from the cliff just
beyond the log. When you continue up the log and over the hill, you will see
an explosion from about four fragmentation grenades, followed by machine
rifle rounds coming from the structure. The man on the cliff is Mendoza, the
man on point for your unit. The rest could have been Keyes Squad (when you
walk inside, the elevator needs to return up) or a group of rouge units set
up for a suicide run.
343
Guilty Spark: Avoid getting detected: When you are in the path that leads to the complex (where the
elevator leads to the bottom of the complex, then to the Flood) move slowly
(crouching makes it slightly easier) and hide in the bush next to the alien
gun turret. Take out your pistol and use the scope. Snipe the Grunts and
Jackals. If you shot all them fast enough, the aliens will not notice you.
You may want to practice this trick a few times to increase your accuracy
and shooting.
343
Guilty Spark. Flood preview: When you walk across the log in the woods, you may notice a few
yellow dots on your radar. If you quickly look to the right and up that hill
(when you are still on the log), you will see at least one of the Flood that
you experience later in the game.
When you begin the level, keep
the pistol with you. Get to the part where the Jackal is standing on the
fallen tree. Kill it, zoom in, run forward and look at the Shade (gun
turret). Near it, you should see a Flood Elite that runs by the tree to the
left then runs back behind the Shade and disappears. If you try to shoot it,
it will not die but you will get a plasma grenade.
343
Guilty Spark: Deadly bubbles: When you get dropped off by the Pelican, run to the front of the
ship. In front of the ship you well see a rock. In front of that is two
trees. In front of the two trees is another rock. If you go to the left of
the rock, you are in very deep water. Duck to get underwater. If you shoot,
you will see bubbles. If you shoot at the lily pads, the bubbles will kill
you.
343
Guilty Spark: Radio transmissions: Go to the front of the Pelican (dropship) to hear a radio with
transmissions featuring people being attacked and hints about secret areas.
Stand above the cockpit of the
Pelican to hear a solider reporting in, trying to contact the dropship. He
will say that they were attacked by a new Covenant species and that Captain
Keyes has been abducted and is on a large vessel.
343
Guilty Spark: Ambush location: There is a great location to ambush some Covenant in the level.
When you enter the compound, there is the elevator. Go down the elevator,
and when you reach the checkpoint, start running and jump onto the little
building that they are in. This may require a few attempts. When you finally
get up there, look off the edge. You will see one of the Covenant shields.
Use it to bounce your grenades into the hallway below. If you do not want to
use your grenades, you can always turn around and drop off backwards. Then,
just unload on them.
Assault
On The Control Room: Easy completion: Go to the area where the Goliath tank is located. Take out the
tank, but do not go past the pond that it sits on. After you take it out,
look up on the wall until you find a ledge sticking out with a light on it.
Shoot the middle of the pad on the underside. This may take a few attempts
until you get the Banshee that falls off the ledge. Get in and fly down the
tunnel. Take out the Hunters at the bottom, then get out and open the door.
Fly to where the bridge is broken and take that enemy out. Get out of the
Banshee and snipe the enemies on the other side of the gap. Get in the
Banshee and fly to the door. Open it and fly through. Keep going in the
Banshee until you get to the area with the second tank. Go to the ledge and
grab the other banshee on the large middle island. Take it and keep flying
in the same direction until you see two bridges. Go to the one next to the
one above the door on the ground. Go until you come out on the bridge where
the "I wish I had a super weapon" message appears. Take one of
those and fly to the top of the pyramid and finish the level. This is a good
way to easily complete this level under the legendary difficulty setting.
When you go outside, get the
rocket launcher and continue through the level until you reach the Scorpion
tank. Kill all the Covenant in that area. There will now be a tunnel to the
right and a path to the left. Take the left path and look up. You will see a
platform. Shoot the rocket launcher at the center of the platform. If done
correctly, a Banshee will fall. Take it to the area with the bridge above it
and land on the bridge. When you go through the door, there will be no
Covenant for the remainder of the level.
When you get to the tank, take
it to the next chasm through the tunnel. Once you have destroyed the
Covenant tank and Ghosts, go to the next tunnel. Take the tank over to the
far left of the tunnel entrance wall. Here you can drive the tank up the
rocks until you can jump out of it to the upper level where the other
Covenant Tank is hiding. Take out this tank with your RPG. From here, look
back up the chasm to where the Banshee is located on top of the platform.
Use your sniper rifle to aim the RPG and knock the Banshee down. Get into
the Banshee and fly through the next set of areas until you get to the
entranceway where you would normally discard the tank. In this last chasm,
take the Banshee up to the second ledge and find a place to land. From here
you can snipe a very large force of Covenant from about 800 meters up on the
ledge. Again, use your sniper rifle to sight in your RPG, as its view is not
to useful from such a great height. From here you can take out Hunters as
well. Once you have wiped out the Covenant, fly your Banshee to the next
chasm and land on the left suspension bridge. From here you can walk to the
"If I Had A Super Weapon" are unchallenged. Get into another
Banshee and fly to the top of the pyramid structure. From here you can get
to the next level.
When you reach the part where
you have to fight the second Covenant mortar tank, take all the enemies out
without going past the hill at the end of the tunnel. Then, get on the hill
and pull out the sniper rifle to line up the shot. Next, use the rocket
launcher and without moving the controls, shoot the Banshee. Then, get back
in the Scorpion and take out the Hunters. Next, walk over to the left side
of the tunnel you fought the Hunters in. When you get to the rocks, jump up
and get as high as you can. Then, use the sniper rifle to line up the shot
again, followed by the rocket launcher until it falls. Then, take the
Banshee and leave them in your dust. Continue through the level as normal,
until you reach the "rolling thunder" part. Once there, fly to the
top of the building. There should be a Banshee. Take it and fly through the
rest of the level. There should be no more enemies.
When you get to the natural
bridge covered in snow above the tank, Ghosts, and the control room, kill
all the enemies on it. If you have a rocket launcher, take out the enemies
near the ground and the tank. Face the control building. In the middle,
there is a spine-like wall going down the middle. Jump on it as high as you
can. You will lose some life, but it would be worth it. Walk down the spine
all the way to the ground. When you get to the ground, there would be no
enemies on the building or anywhere else except behind the door. You no
longer have to worry about Covenant on the building.
Assault
On The Control Room: Shortcut: At the part where you have to leave the Marines to carry on,
continue on and fight more Covenant. When you get to an elevator, go up and
you find a Jackal at the top when the elevator stops. After killing him,
continue until the part where there are two bridges. When you get on the
first bridge, you will find some sleeping Grunts. It is best to leave them
sleeping. Immediately get on the bridge, turn right, and you will reach some
sort of glass wall. Just to the left of the glass wall you will see what
appears to be a small pillar or stone. There are other stones to the left of
that particular stone your looking at. Jump on the stone pillar. You may
need several attempts to do so. Once you are on the stone, the glass will be
to your right, the other stones will be to your left, and the other bridge
will be in front of you. Turn right until you are facing the glass wall. You
can now see the top of the glass wall. Turn to the right so that you can see
the top of the glass wall, then jump on the glass wall. If you miss, you
either safely fall back onto the bridge or fall off the bridge and down to
your death. After making it onto the top of the glass wall, turn slightly to
your left and try jump on to the other bridge. By this time the covenant
should have already discovered you and will start shooting. Once you are on
the other bridge, continue on to complete the level. This is useful when
playing under the legendary difficulty setting to avoid fighting all the
Covenant, especially the Elites and Hunters.
On the part where you go over
the snowed over bridge, grab the Banshee and kill all the enemies in the
area. Then, take the Banshee to the pyramid type building. This way, you
will not have take on any enemies in the chasm or on the pyramid.
Get to the point where there
are two Banshees outside on the bridge. Use a Sniper Rifle to kill one of
the Elites that pilot them. Take off in it and go to the "control
room" on the building next to the bridge (or you can simply jump onto
the "spine" and walk down to the ground). If you go under the spot
where the spine is located, there is a med pack and supplies. When you get
to the ground, you can go get a Ghost and drive it up the ramps (you must
drive on the sides), or just walk up the ramp. Open the door and kill
everything. If you used a Banshee or a Ghost, take it all the way inside and
it will show you in it during the FMV sequence after the level is completed.
When you get to the ice bridge,
run directly to the first Banshee and kill the enemy behind it. Then, go
directly to the left of the bridge to the big door. Get out of it, open the
door, and press the L key to destroy more Covenant forces.
Note: Two players are required
for this trick. When you get on the first bridge where the Grunts are
sleeping and Cortana says that the weather patterns here seem natural, go to
the edge and look down. There is a little ledge that you can reach. Kill the
first group of Grunts, then the Banshee (if under the heroic or higher
difficulty setting). Then, jump down to the little ledge. Kill your partner
and jump, staying on the side of the mountain. If done correctly, your
partner will respawn on the second ledge down. Keep walking to where the
Marines are until you cannot walk further. You must jump to stay on the
ledge at this time. Have one player go down and keep repeating until you get
down safely. You can now go through the rest of the level without any
Covenant.
When you get to the "I
wish I had a super weapon" part, you should see two Banshees. Try to
get to one. If you cannot, run to the middle of the bridge to where you are
facing the pyramid. Get in front of the edge and from there, jump off the
bridge and onto the railing. From there, you can run to the pyramid without
the Banshee.
Assault
On The Control Room: Hidden ammunition stash: At the room where there is a bridge on one side and a half broken
bridge on the other side, there is a ammunition stash on the far left side,
near the broken bridge. Note: It is the giant room once you enter the
tunnel. There is ammunition for the sniper rifle, assuault rifle, pistol,
and rocket launcher and is very useful when fighting the Hunters and Elites
on the other side.
At the end of the level, look
in the crater where the actual control room building is "anchored"
into the ground. You will find some dead marines and a lot of good items,
including a health pack, a pistol, and some rounds. More importantly, there
is a sniper rifle with rounds and a rocket launcher. You can use the rocket
launcher to get rid of the two Jackals that are on the first
"level" of the building and the two that await at the top. Use the
sniper rifle to get rid of nearly all of the other Covenant forces without
them even seeing you. You can actually jump onto that "anchor"
that goes into the ground. Its just wide enough for you to walk on. Walk on
this part of the control room building all the way up to the very top,
pausing every once in a while to zoom in on the different levels to clear
all of the Covenant forces. Once you get to the top of the building (and
cannot walk any farther) and all the aliens are killed, walk back down
carefully and grab one of the Ghosts. You can ride it up the different
levels. This will make it easier to kill the onslaught of aliens that await
behind the final door in the building.
Assault
On The Control Room: Sniping location: As you exit the lower door into the valley, head to the large
vertical support for the pyramid. There is a large crack where this support
is anchored in the ground. Jump in -- there are weapons and health located
here. After arming yourself with the rockets and sniper rifle, go to the
beginning of the vertical support. Hop on it and start walking up. You
cannot go all the way to the pyramid, but you will be high over the enemy,
who you can pick off at will. The tank is the only weapon that can hit you.
However, if you go to the correct location the snow bridge that you crossed
will block the shots. This will work going in and when you exit later.
Get a Banshee from the snow
covered bridge (near the pyramid building). Fly up to the pyramid and open
the door. Get back into your Banshee and fly up the pillar directly in front
of the building (it goes straight up). There are walls coming out of the
pillar. Land the Banshee on top of the bottom wall. Get out carefully and
walk to the right side of the wall. If you do not have a sniper rifle or
pistol, there is a spine coming out of the pillar; go down it to find is a
stash with a sniper rifle, pistol and rocket launcher ammunition. Also, in
the bottom of the ditch is health, if needed. Go back to the bottom wall
again. Get out of your Banshee and walk to the right side again. You should
have an easy shot at the Grunts and Elites. They will not be able to shoot
back. After that, fly back down and continue into the building to finish the
level.
You must get the early Banshee
to do this trick. When you get to the part where there are two bridges (one
broken), fly to the Hunter's side of the bridge. Then, fly up and slightly
to the right. You will see a ledge. Land the Banshee on it, but be careful
as it can fall off. If that happens, you cannot get back down because you
will die. This is an excellent location to snipe the Hunters and Elites, if
you have an RPG or sniper rifle. Then, get back into your Banshee and
continue the level as usual.
Assault
On The Control Room: Spinning ring: At the Halo start up screen, choose multiplayer mode. Choose
cooperative play at the next screen, then choose your profiles at the next.
Choose the level where in the beginning it says, "I would have been
your daddy" (Assault On The Control Room). On the difficulty screen,
choose legendary. When the level starts after the introduction sequence,
have one of the players quickly press X when the "Press X to get
on the Pelican" message appears. That player will re-board the ship and
start flying with it down the hole. The other player will quickly die
because of the aliens, and will be respawned on the spinning ring. Make sure
to jump where there are gaps. If you are good enough, you can even jump to a
nearby ledge. Additionally, once you are respawned on the ring, quickly jump
off and fall to your death. Sometimes you will be respawned on the lowest
ledge in all the blue haze, and a "Press X to flip the Pelican"
will appear that the top of the screen very briefly.
Assault
On The Control Room: Move turret across bridge: When you are on any part of the bridge that has turrets, keep
using a melee attack against it. It will slowly move across the bridge. Move
it down the bridge a short distance. You can now kill all of the enemies on
that bridge with the turret weapon.
Assault
On The Control Room: Getting to the control room pit: In the first room, it is almost impossible to reach the bottom.
This can only be done in co-operative multi-player with two players. To get
to the bottom of the first room, press X while falling out of the
Pelican. A message stating "Press X to enter the Pelican" will
appear. Make sure you have fragmentation grenades. You should now be in the
Pelican and it is flying down. Once you pass the first ring, have one player
hop out by pressing X to flip the Pelican. Once the white fog begins
to hit, the remaining player must begin to throw fragmentation grenades. At
the bottom is a white room filled with fog. Do not get crushed by the
landing Pelican. Also at the bottom are some more weapons, including a
hunter gun (that you can use). This does not work every time.
Assault
On The Control Room: Fun with weapons: Where you cross the bridge, and all the little guys are sleeping,
press B to hit them and quickly kill them. Leave one on the left or
right still sleeping. Throw a plasma grenade on the turret. They will scream
and sometimes get in the turret. Get back and watch the him fly out of the
turret and fall to the ground very far below. Sometimes the turret will fall
on him. When the dropship flies over and the other people with the shields
start shooting at it, go up behind them and throw a plasma grenade on his
head. He will run around and explode. Sometimes, he will fly all the way
down to the ground below. Finally, when you get to the Banshees (flying
alien vehicles) fly as high as you can. Then, floor it to the ground and hit
people on the ground. Press L to shoot missiles and R to shoot
lasers. Also, you can fly as high as you can and jump out. You will fall for
a while, then hit the ground with a big "ch-wunk".
Assault
On The Control Room: Disable Banshee: There is a hidden Banshee in the middle of the level. After you
get the tank and rescue the Marines, proceed to the left of that area. Make
sure you have a rocket launcher and sniper rifle. There will be a tunnel.
Follow it. When you exit, there will be a hill straight ahead of you. Move
up onto it and take out the Wraith Tank. Once everything is destroyed, get
out of the tank and take out your sniper rifle. Zoom in on the platform to
your upper left. You will be able to see the top of a hidden Banshee. You
could try and get it down, but if that fails, zoom on the top of the
Banshee. Switch to your rocket launcher, and without moving, fire. The
rocket will hit the Banshee and disable it. The Elite guarding it is too
stupid to flip it over, and it will be useless. You no longer have the
annoying Banshee on your tail as you proceed through the rest of the level.
Assault
On The Control Room: Disable Wraith tank: Get into a Banshee, preferably when you are supposed to get it on
the snowy bridge. You should be in the area with the large pyramid
structure. Fly down to the bottom where a Wraith tank is lobbing plasma
mortars at you. Fly directly at it, head on. Your Banshee will knock the
tank upwards, and if you keep pushing, it will completely flip. The Elite
will fall out, and you can kill him. However, you cannot get in the Wraith
tank. Note: This may require a few attempts.
Assault
On The Control Room: Fun with Ghost: Kill all of the surrounding Covenant so they do not get in the
way, then get in the Ghost. Keep jumping the tank at different angles. You
can do various tricks, such as 360 degree cartwheels. Note: This is easier
to do in open spaces
Play the level under any
difficulty setting, but easy or normal would be better and easier. Get to
the part where you have to rescue Fire Team Zulu. Rescue them, and note that
there are some Ghosts at the far side of the canyon. Most likely an Elite
has got into one of them, so there may only be one remaining. Get into it
and proceed to the next section with the tank in it. Kill everything in the
area, but instead of leaving, drive the Ghost directly at the tank. The
Ghost will do all sort of flips and spins. Try ramming the Ghost into the
tank and different angles. Each angle will give you a different result.
Assault
On The Control Room: Fun with Hunter: After you cross the bridge with two Hunters, continue on. When
you meet the next batch of Hunters, kill only one of them. Run through the
rest of the level. Kill everything on the bridge, and make sure to take one
of the two Banshees. Kill everything on the bridge, structure, and ground.
Then, fly all the way back to where that Hunter was located. Stand in front
of him, and let him swing at you. His melee attacks will force him to go
forward. Do this for a long time, and take him across the bridge then on to
the elevator. When at the bottom, lure him all the way up the structure.
Kill the Covenant that appear from the doorway up there (where the gold
Elite is located). Keep going, and lead the Hunter all the way to the
doorway. Open the control room doorway, with the Hunter close by. In the
intermission sequence, the Hunter wants to fight more. He will knock Master
Chief off the edge, kill him, or do something similar.
Assault
On The Control Room: Fun with a Banshee: Get to the bridge where it says, "If I had a Super
Weapon..." and get the Banshee. Fly it around and let the other one
chase you. Notice the tank firing plasma charges at you. Make sure the
Banshee is following you and dive directly toward the tank. The tank will
just miss you overhead, causing the Banshee behind you to get caught in the
blast and be destroyed. Note: This was done under the easy difficulty
setting.
After defeating all of the
enemies in the part where you have the option to get the tank, take the path
to the left of the cave. When you get onto that path, look up. Watch out for
the Ghost that comes over the hill. You will see a platform hanging off the
side of the wall. Take out a rocket launcher and shoot the platform,
directly in the center. A banshee should fall off it. If not, either keep
shooting; and if it still will not come down, revert to the last checkpoint
and try again.
Assault
On The Control Room: Early Banshee: Get the rocket launcher and sniper rifle from the area where your
men are fighting near a flipped Warthog. Play the level until you get to the
Scorpion tank. Take the tank through the cave. There will be a small hill
after the cave. Kill the Wraith Tank from on top of the small hill. Take any
enemies out without passing the small hill. Get out of the tank and turn
around to your right. Look up and you should see a platform with a blinking
light. Note: if you move past the little pond that the Wraith Tank was on,
there is an elite guard there that will pilot the Banshee, thus costing you
to lose the chance of getting it. Take the rocket launcher and fire at the
center of the platform (underneath). This may require a few shots. When you
hit the correct location, you will see the Banshee fall off the platform and
to the ground. The Banshee is now yours for the taking. You can find another
Banshee on top of the large pillar in the center of the canyon after the
caves.
Select solo or co-op mode. Go
through the level normally until you encounter the Scorpion tank. Get the
rocket launcher and sniper rifle from the downed Pelican that is located
left of the tank. Ride the tank and continue through the tunnel on your
right. Clear out the Ghosts that attack you, then go up on top of the hill
ahead of you. Do not pass the ice pond. Remain on the hill. Look with your
sniper rifle to the left. Look up and you will see a platform with lights. A
Banshee is on this platform with an Elite to drive it, but he does not get
in unless you pass the ice pond. Aim with your sniper rifle under the
platform, around the middle. Take out your rocket launcher without moving
the controller and fire. If done correctly, the Banshee will fall down. You
can fly the Banshee and take it through the whole level. You can find a
floating tree after doing this. Fly the Banshee on top of the platform in
front you. It is above the normal door where you find the Hunters, and there
is a turret in the middle. Beware of the second tank. Destroy it and park
the Banshee. Look at the center tree to see that it is floating.
Assault
On The Control Room: Later Banshee: At the end of the level when you begin crossing the snow covered
bridge, after the "...If I had a super weapon" message appears,
run straight ahead until you see the first controllable Banshee. Shoot near
either the first or second Banshee with your rocket launcher. It will fall
off the bridge and be available when you emerge from the ground floor door
when you have to climb the pyramid structure to end the level.
There is another Banshee
located when you first encounter the Scorpion tank. There are two roads that
leads to the same place. One is to go to the cave, and the other is to go to
an open road. Choose the open road to the left. Make sure you have a sniper
rifle and a rocket launcher. While you are walking in the road, look up and
you will see a platform. Get at least under the platform. Use the sniper
rifle to aim directly in the middle of the platform. Change your weapon to a
rocket launcher, but make sure you do not move your aim. Shoot the rocket
launcher, and if you hit it in the correct location, a Banshee will fall.
You can use it throughout the game. You will also find places you cannot see
and use them to easily defeat your enemy.
Assault
On The Control Room: Steal Banshee: Get a rocket launcher during the second time you get attacked by
a Banshee in the level (under the easy difficulty setting). After you kill
the second Banshee, go past the two Hunters then kill the rest of the
enemies. You will encounter two more Hunters after you meet up with about
six of your men on the ice patch. Kill them and you will reach the next big
outdoor area, where you fight a group of little Convenant on top of the
cliff with one tree in the middle of some rocks. Do not go past that battle
area or the rocks that the Convenant have taken cover at. After you defeat
them, go to the wall on your far left, directly above the cliff. You will
see a little rock. Stand on it. It should be sitting just at the base of the
large cliff wall. Stand directly on top of it. You should now how the third
Banshee attacks. You must know where he appears (before he takes off in
order to get it. Try and spot the Banshee just laying around in the far
background of the outdoor field. You can jump and try to spot the Banshee if
necessary. After seeing it, equip your rocket launcher, use the scope to get
the best aim, and fire at it. Jump and shoot in order to get a good shot.
Keep firing until you have flipped the Banshee on its back. Then, go over
there. Ignore the Convenant shooting at you until you get to the flipped
Banshee. There will be a tall Convenant just standing there. Kill him, flip
the Bashee over, and it is yours. Take advantage of the opportunity to
explore the level with it, including getting to the ground at the bottom of
the bridges.
You will come out onto a land
bridge near the end of the level. You are supposed to go across and then
down the other side, then up the "S" shaped path to the completion
of the level. There are many enemies at the start of the bridge. Ignore them
and try to run by as fast as possible. You will see an Elite running for a
Banshee. Quickly snipe him or shoot him with the rocket launcher. Shoot away
from the Banshee so it does not fly off the bridge. Shooting the Elite
repeatedly with a pistol may also work. Once he is dead, jump into the
Banshee and fly off. There is a second banshee on the bridge farther across.
It is better to defeat him first, but sometimes if you get over there
quickly you can defeat the Elite before that one gets into the Banshee; and
a second player can get into it in co-op. Going back to when the first
person gets in the Banshee, you can either go down to get ammunition and
kill all the enemies (be easy because you are in a Banshee) or just skip all
the enemies and go to the door.
Assault
On The Control Room: No Banshee shortcut: From the bridge at the end of the level, jump to the concrete
slope part of the pyramid structure. To live, you need a full shield and at
least four bars of health. To get down, just walk down the slope to ground
level.
Assault
On The Control Room: Music from Myth: Get towards the end of the level. Take a Banshee in the open area
and go up to the Control Center. Locate the middle ledge that are around the
central pillar in front of the door. Maneuver the Banshee so that is
parallel to the walkway, and facing the left (with respect to the door),
then land. Get out of the back carefully without falling. Walk to the right
edge of the ledge and remain idle to eventually hear music from the PC game Myth.
Assault
On The Control Room: Rescuing Fire Team Zulu: In this mission, there is a group of Marines that need rescuing,
code-named Fire Team Zulu. Some players might not care about them, but
others may find them quite useful when they use grenades or sniper rifles.
Once you exit the door to Fire Team Zulu's location, there will be a Shade
to your left. Quickly toss a grenade to him, then switch to the pistol and
zoom in on the second Shade, located on the top of a small hill to your
right. To the left of that hill, you will notice two Ghosts. If you are fast
enough, and playing under the easy difficulty setting, you can zoom in on
the Elite and kill him before he reaches the Ghost. If he gets in it, just
destroy him and get in the second Ghost. Kill the enemies that are around
Zulu, then get the Mortar tank. Get close to it and hold the trigger until
it explodes. You will take damage, but not too much, and the Mortar Tank
will concentrate on you instead of the Marines. Once destroyed, it is a
simple process of eliminating the remaining forces in the area. If all this
is done fast enough and correctly, you should have three Marines remaining,
which is the maximum amount you can save.
Assault
On The Control Room: Killing Hunters: When you enter the big open room, get the sniper rifle from the
corner with all of the dead people. Then, go to the end of the broken bridge
(where the turret is located) and zoom in. You will see two Hunters. The
easiest way to kill them here is to shoot near them to make them run. As
they are turned to run, aim for the small orange spot on their back. If you
shoot them there, it will almost instantly kill them.
Near the end of the level, find
a Ghost and get into it. Proceed through the level until you approach two
Hunters. Fly directly at them, firing at one of the them. Keep moving from
side to side, forwards and backwards, while keeping a steady stream of
plasma on one of the Hunters. If done correctly, the Hunter will keep on
dodging out of your way, and does not have a chance to fire. His partner
will not fire, because he either cannot get a clear shot, or he is afraid of
hitting his friend. If he does fire, it will be a clear miss. This is a
great tactic if you do not have a rocket launcher with you to take them out,
or are just not skilled enough to hit the Hunters' orange soft spot.
Assault
On The Control Room: Destroying the Covenant Tank on the hill: When you reach the area with the Covenant Tanks, one will be on a
ledge above the unnatural tunnel. Destroy the ground enemies and the
Banshee. Then, take the tank to the entrance of the tunnel. Turn to your
right, and you will see a large boulder. Move the tank up against where the
boulder and wall meet. Hop out of the tank and jump on top of it. When you
do so, jump into the top of the boulder (the part against the wall). You
will be able to walk up it. Walk until you come to a stop against the canyon
wall. You will see a small gray ledge. You can jump on the flat part of it.
Then, walk up to the snowy ledge on your right. You should then be on top of
the ledge. This place is also an excellent sniping location if you have not
killed all of the Covenants yet.
Assault
On The Control Room: Killing Grunts: When entering a room, move slowly. If any Grunts are sleeping,
look down at them and hit them with your gun. Make sure you are close enough
-- if you stay next to them they will wake up, then the other Grunts will
wake up, making the Elites attack you.
After you exit the first
elevator, you will see a lot of Grunts that look dead. However, they are
just sleeping. Quietly approach them and use your melee attack on them. Do
not make any noise or they will wake up. Once you kill the Grunts, quietly
sneak up on the Elites and Jackals and take them out with grenades.
Assault
On The Control Room: Kill Master Chief: When you get to the end of the level, just before you press the
switch to open the last door, get a Ghost. Line it up with the center and
get out. Press the button and quickly get back into the Ghost. Just as the
door opens, drive forward. When the intermission sequence starts, the Master
Chief will be killed by the Ghost. The sequence continues, but there is no
Master Chief. When the camera shows a certain angle, you can see him laying
at an angle, propped up on his gun.
Assault
On The Control Room: Dancing bodies: During a cooperative multi-player game, go to any elevator in the
level and ride it to the bottom. Once there, take turns killing each other
on the elevator. Make sure you wait for your partner to respawn before you
die. When you have killed each other (no limit of bodies), send your partner
on the elevator with the bodies while the other person remains next to the
elevator switch. When the elevator is about halfway up, have the person that
is standing next to the elevator button rapidly press X. The person
on the elevator should see the bodies dancing on the elevator. Sooner or
later everything on the elevator slips through the bottom and falls. Look at
the player next to the button to see the green bodies fall to the bottom of
the hole.
Assault
On The Control Room: Blow bodies sky high: Go to an elevator during a cooperative multi-player and ride to
the bottom. Make sure you have a lot of grenades. Take turns falling into
the hole so there are bodies all over the floor at the bottom of the hole.
Make sure your partner respwans before you fall. When you are done falling,
there should be a lot of bodies and grenades. The more grenades lying in the
hole, the better. Then, have someone throw a grenade into the hole. When the
grenade explodes, it should detonate all the other grenades with it, making
all the bodies fly sky high.
Assault
On The Control Room: Free play: In multi-player mode, fight all Covenant until you get to the
first bridge. Kill all the aliens there. Look down the side next to the door
you first came through. You should notice a blackish ledge. Both players
jump down onto the ledge. Have one of the players jump down and commit
suicide while the other player runs right to the edge of the ledge where it
gets very thin. When the player who committed suicide screen reads
"Waiting to respawn", have the other player run off the cliff and
try to land on the thickest part of the snow ledge below. With any luck, the
dead character should respawn on thes now ledge while the other player dies.
Wait a few seconds until the other person respawns on the ledge. Next,
attempt to slide down the cliff onto the ground. If done fast enough, there
will be a Pelican waiting for you at the bottom. Press X to enter it.
If the Pelican has left already, do not worry as you can just walk wherever
you want to go. You are now free to walk, drive, or fly around anywhere.
There are four types of useable vehicle to explore with. There are three
Banshees on the level, although only one is immediately visible. Another is
on top of the giant pillar (with an alien tank nearby) which can easily be
knocked/blown down to the ground. The final Banshee is concealed on top of a
small non-natural alien made ledge close to where you find the tank.
Beach:
Three Warthogs: Get in the Warthog and drive around to the second group of trees.
You will find another Warthog. Get in and proceed through out the level.
When the supply ship crashes there will be another Warthog, giving you a
total of three.
Beach:
Fun with Warthogs: Get a Warthog and go into the water. You can keep going and not
drown.
Beach:
Flying passenger: Get a Warthog and allow Marines to get in. Hop out and go to the
passenger side. Place a plasma grenade on his foot that is on the dash,
stand back, and watch him fly.
Blood
Gulch: Sniping location: Go in the middle of Blood Gulch and look to the side opposite the
caves, all the way to the top of the cliffs. You will see a large oval rock
sticking out of the cliff. Get in a Ghost and go under it. Look towards the
red base. You will see a slant that goes up half to the top, sloped at about
45 degrees. Drive at it with a reasonable amount of speed and hold A.
The slope will decrease in width. When you get to the top of the slope
(while still holding A), turn to right and try to keep your speed up.
There will be a crack (or line) going all the way up the cliff. Follow this
until you lose about half of your speed, and then strafe right and still
press Forward. If done with enough speed, you will land on a cliff.
Look to the back of the rock that you landed on, and you will see another
crack (or line).Press A and follow it. Go as far upwards as you can.
The Ghost will start to wobble. Turn to your left 90 degrees and exit the
Ghost. If you done correctly, you should be standing on your Ghost. You will
be nearly invincible, as tanks and rockets must hit directly you to have any
effect.
Go up into one of the bases.
Get the sniper rifle and go to the platform with the pistol on it. Stand on
the platform and jump to the higher platform behind the pistol. From this
location you will have a great view of the other base to snipe them.
Blood
Gulch: Doors: Start a multi-player game with Warthogs, unlimited frag grenades,
and human weapons. First, get a rocket launcher and place a Warthog next to
the base. Throw a frag grenade under it. When it blows up, launch a rocket
at the Warthog in the air. If done correctly, the Warthog will be on top of
the base. Then, drive it over the on ramp and between the two things that
stick out of the base above the ramp. Finally, drive the Warthog so that it
is hanging off the edge of the ramp, creating a door. To open, go up to it
and press Action. If playing the Windows or Macintosh version, you
can use the rocket launcher Warthogs.
Blood
Gulch: Block portal: You can block a portal by putting a Scorpion or Warthog over the
exit of the portal and leave the vehicle. This will not work if you are
still in the vehicle, as your enemy will still go through and kill you.
Blood
Gulch: Warthog door: Go to Blood Gulch in multi-player mode, then find a way to get a
Warthog on top of any base. Once you get it on top, drive it in between the
two triangular shaped shield objects directly opposite from the teleporter.
Drive the Warthog in between them, and make sure you do not fall down. If
done correctly, it should just be blocking the entrance and the Warthog will
not fall down. Get out of the Warthog and go to it. Make sure the message
"Press X to flip Warthog" appears. Once you do that, it should
just raise up then go back down.
Blood
Gulch: Retrieve tank: There is a way to retrieve one of the tanks, if they are both in
the cave. You need a jeep and two players. First, drive the jeep into the
cave. Let it sit behind both the tanks. Then, have both players get their
own tank and drive towards the direction they came in. Let the one closest
to the opening go first. Then, let the second tank behind the first tank ram
it. The first one will get to a point and will stop. Do not let off the gas
or it will slide down. Next, have the second player get out of the second
tank and jump into the jeep. Have him push the first tank the rest of the
way out. Note: The first tank may flip over.
Blood
Gulch: Create a curtain on the base: Get a Warthog on top of any base (use a grenade, rocket, or
something else). Drive the Warthog between the two pillars opposite to the
teleporter. Maneuver it so the front wheels fall down between the pillars.
The Warthog should fall downward, and the back wheels will be stuck. Go up
to the Warthog and press X to flip it. The Warthog will hop up,
letting you enter the base. Note: If you press X too many times
without waiting for the Warthog to re-settle, it will fall from its
position.
Blood
Gulch: Block top of the base: It is possible to stop anyone from getting to the top of the
base. Ramp two Ghosts to the top of the base using a tank or some other
method. Once there, take one Ghost to each ramp leading up to the top. Put
the Ghost on either side so that the front is at the side of the ramp. Pull
it forward until the front end is over the ramp, then get out. The front of
the Ghost will fall down into the ramp. You will not be able to flip the
Ghost out or push it out of the way. The only way to move it is to throw a
lot of grenades at it until it works its way down, or to use rockets. This
is very useful in capture the flag, especially if you block the two
entrances down with the Warthogs.
Halo:
Fast kills: During level 2 "Halo", you will hear the warning
"Take cover -- Covenant ship is in boundaries". Run into the ship
that you landed in and wait for the enemies to appear. Your motion detector
will indicate when they are present. They will eventually walk by, not
noticing you. Throw a grenade and start shooting to kill them much faster.
Halo:
Legendary setting: To complete the Halo level in legendary mode, hide in the Human
Lifeboats. The Elites will attack, but will rarely hit you. Throw Plasma
Grenades on them and use the Needler to blow them up. Then, get out and mop
up the Grunts and the Jackals. This almost always works.
Halo:
Shortcut: The following shortcut is very useful in legendary mode. After
you start the level and defeat the first two groups of enemies, head towards
the structure where you have to fight the four Dropships and protect the
Marines. Once you round the corner that leads to the structure, stick to the
left wall and follow it until you reach to the entrance to the tunnel. Wait
there. After about three minutes, Conrtana and Echo 419 will start talking.
Echo 419 will say "Warthog deployed". Just walk back there and get
the Warthog to be on you way.
Halo:
Flip the Banshee: Play the level under the legendary difficulty setting. Take out
one of the Banshees while fighting the first group of Covenant by the rocks.
You can just start fighting, then run to kill the Banshee. The other should
land. This is actually much easier to do with the human pistol -- just use
the scope.
Halo:
Fly in Banshee: When the Banshee arrives, shoot the back of it repeatedly. If
done correctly, the Banshee will fall unharmed, allowing you to can fly to
your destination.
Halo:
Always plummet to your death in a Warthog: Just after you exit the tunnel (with the light bridge) in a
Warthog, drive off the cliff. Keep close to the tunnel mouth. When you die
and revert to the last checkpoint, you will be on the edge of the cliff,
just about to fall off. It is possible to turn around and drive the Warthog
to safety, but it is very difficult.
Halo:
Have Marines stay: Before you rescue the group of Marines that you need to go
through the underground tunnels to reach (should be the second group, but it
depends which way you go), drive the Warthog into the opening of the tunnel
that is next to the cliff. Half of it should be in the tunnel and the other
half should be out. Get out and you should be inside the tunnel. Rescue the
marines then jump back in the driver's seat of your Warthog. It should be
stuck, but just drive it out of the opening enough so that you can get
outside the tunnel, but still block the opening. Clean up the rest of the
enemies then Echo-419 will touchdown for the evacuation of the Marines.
However, because they are stuck trying to get through the opening with the
Warthog in it, Echo-419 should take off without them. You can then get the
Warthog out of the opening. If a seat is empty in the Warthog, one of them
should take it.
Halo:
Get on cliff area: When you reach the first life beacon, do everything needed to get
Foehammer to drop off a Warthog. Go to a part of the wall that the tunnel is
on near the life beacon, where grass and snow meet. If you get enough speed
and hit the correct part, your Warthog will start to inch its way up the
side. It will take some time, but eventually you will get to the top. Once
there, you can drive around but the controls will freeze everyt ime the
beacon fires blue.
Halo:
Drive off cliff: Get to the part where you can get in the Warthog and go off the
cliff. Jump out of the Warthog. The Warthog will fall. You can see it fall
or stay in it to fall off and die.
Halo:
Fog fall: In the room where you activate the energy bridge, proceed through
the level until you make it outside. Then, go back in the building. The
bridge will not be on. There is a small ledge hanging out of the side with
glass in the middle on the right side of you. Ramp the Warthog off it. Your
Marines will die, but you will make it down into the fog.
Halo:
Sniping location: When you go to the second life boat, get the sniper rifle and
ride the Warthog to the right of the first structure and up the hill. Note:
This will only work if you go up the shadow of the tree. This is very useful
under the legendary difficulty setting.
When you have crash landed on
Halo and run across the bridge, turn left and go to the edge of the cliff.
Turn to your right and go past the big boulder which is on your right. Jump
up onto the boulder. Be prepared because the alien Banshees will have no
trouble finding you. Look over to the other side of the bridge and switch to
your pistol. Use the zoomed view and start shooting some aliens.
At the end of the level, before
you rescue the last group of Marines at the installation on the cliff edge,
try this trick. As you pass between the mountains that lead to the base,
turn your Warthog to the left. Now, facing the mountain wall, start driving
up the flattest face of the mountain. It may take a few attempts to find the
correct location. You will slow down when you get near the top, but you will
still be moving forward slightly. After a few seconds, you will reach the
top. From this vantage point, you can see the entire level. Use it to snipe
the enemies below, take a close up look at the planet above using any of
your weapons' scopes, or to rain grenades down on the Covenant. Also, you
may see red blips circling you on your radar, but you cannot see what they
are.
Get to the part where you see
the words "Reunion Tour" on the screen. A hill in front of you
will have two Jackals on it. After them, you have to save the Marines who
are hiding in the structure. Enter the area with the Warthog and follow the
hill to your right. There will be a tree right by the hill that will have a
brown spot near it on the ground. Drive straight at the hill where that
brown spot is located and your Warthog will go up it. Your Warthog will slow
down as you near the top, but keep going and you will have the best sniper
location.
Halo:
Skip intermission sequence: There are some intermission sequences that cannot end with the
push of a button. One of these is on the Halo level, when you and some
soldiers drive to a energy bridge that needs to be activated. To trick the
Xbox into skipping the intermission sequence, kill all the aliens desired,
then drive out to where the energy bridge would be. Stop at the edge and
carefully tilt the Warthog about halfway over the edge. Make sure it does
not fall. Activate the bridge. When this is done, you should be able to walk
over to the Warthog without the intermission sequence starting. The Warthog
should be halfway into the bridge. Just drive away and the glitch will be
fixed.
Keyes:
Hidden area: When you get to the area that there is a hole in the ship, there
is a way to enter it. You cannot do this by means of the "Health
Pack" ledge. There is an invisible wall there preventing you from
landing on the edge. Instead, look over to the right. It is difficult to
see, but there is a ledge that you can land on. There are three to four
boxes there; two to three standing and one flat. It is in that area where
the ledge is located. If necessary, use the flashlight or grenade to help
find it. Do not use too many grenades as you will need them to finish the
trick. The trick to finishing this procedure is a quick hand that presses Start.
After that, "Revert To Saved". As for getting across, you cannot
do it by simply jumping. First, you will need a grenade. The plasma grenade
works the best. Next, back up and aim in the general direction of the ledge.
Throw the plasma grenade to just near the edge. If it falls, use another or
just restart. If it lands on the edge or near it, time the grenade (this may
be done by throwing one, timing it and restarting to try the trick). If it
is timed correctly, jump just in front of the grenade and as it explodes, it
should propel you across and onto the ledge. Jump onto the boxes and kill
the enemies. You now are in a secret area that contains locked doors and
ammunition. When you are finished, jump toward the "Health Ledge"
(if you lost health from the blast or from enemies) and continue the game as
normal.
Keyes:
Shortcut: When you have to escape on the Banshee, jump on to the Dropship
and over to the platform. Then go down to the escort Banshees.
Keyes:
Flood fighting Covenant: Get to the part where you find Keyes embedded in the mutant. At
the end of this sequence you fight a group of the Flood that appear from one
door then a group of Covenant that exit from another. This can be a
difficult battle to get through. A good strategy is to activate the first
door through which the Flood emerge, then activate the second door where the
covenant Are waiting. Once you have done this, get out of the way and find
cover. Watch as the Flood and Covenant eliminate each other. You can help
from a distance by tossing in some grenades. Then, go in and clean up any
survivors and continue.
The
Maw: Grunt message: There is a Grunt in the level that will give you a message. To
get to him, go all the way past where the drop-ship is going to pick you up.
About three rooms after that, there will be a shortcut to your right. Go in
it. In the middle will be two doors, to your left and right. Unlike the
shortcuts, the door to your right will be open. Enter it. At the end of the
hallway, get out of the jeep and the Grunt will be there. He tells you
something that sounds like "Ugh...good thing that food nipple is
waitin' for me at the starship...'cause, man...have I worked up a big,
Grunty thirst!"
The
Maw: Killing enemies: Use the following trick to kill the two Hunters, the Sentinels
and the Flood. When you are in the maintenance access ways, you will see a
black Grunt run from the Flood directly in front of you. Kill the Flood and
turn left instead of going straight where the hunters are. Go where the
Grunt went. When you get there, the Grunt will be standing in the doorway.
Kill him and you should be in an enclosed room with many dead bodies on the
ground. When you enter, turn to your right to find be some burning boxes. Go
to them, and the Sentinels should be on the other side of the blast door.
Shoot the glass and the bullets should go through the door and hit the
enemies on the other side. The glass should not break, so the enemies cannot
shoot you back.
The
Maw: Destabilize engine: When you open the vents, instead of going to the bottom floor to
destroy the engines, jump on the coupling that is moving away from the
engine. From there, destroy the engine. When the couplings start to pull
back and reach the platform where the computer you pressed to pull the
couplings back is located, jump back on it. Note: You cannot make the jump
if you are on the white part of the couplings. To make it, there is a brown
part on the very end of the couplings. You have to jump from that part to
make it across.
The
Maw: Destroy reactor: Grab a rocket launcher and a shotgun from the armory. Pull back
the couplings as instructed, but instead of going all the way back down to
destroy them, jump on the coupling as it is retracting. Look forward and you
should see the reactor. It is in plain view -- wait for it to open and fire
your rocket launcher. To get back, simply follow the coupling and jump onto
the platform. This is a fast and easy way to complete the level, and should
be done under the normal or easy difficulty setting.
The
Maw: Save time: On the last part when Echo 4-19 is supposed to pick you up and
Cortana tells you to stop, do not do so. It is a waste of time because Echo
4-19 has been hit and crashes where you land. Keep driving straight towards
the next beacon.
In The Maw level, when you are
driving the Warthog through the Pillar of Autumn, there is a curvy hallway
you have to go through where there are a lot of the metal flying robots. On
the left wall when you enter the hallway, there is a hole that you can drive
your Warthog into. This cuts off the entire long curvy hallway and takes you
out at the end of it, saving lots of time. Note: This was done under the
Legendary difficulty setting.
This trick works best in co-op
mode. When you get to the spot exactly before the Warthog part, to the left
and right there are lots of Warthogs. Have each of your players get in a
Warthog. Continue the level until you hit a checkpoint, or you die and
revive.
When you reach the part where
Cortana tells you to stop and wait for Foe Hammer, quickly stop and get into
the gunner seat. You should be able to shoot down the Banshees behind Echo
4-19. and Foe Hammer will appear and pick you up. The level will finish with
a different ending. Note: You must have good aim and speed. This also works
better in co-operative multi-player mode with two Warthogs.
Note: This trick only works on
co-op multi-player mode. After you refill your ammo in the second armory,
walk towards the engine room. Once the words "Light Fuse, Runaway"
appears, have one player wait while the other continues. There will be no
one in the engine room. That player can blast the exhaust manifolds with
ease. Once finished with this, the other player can follow and he will
encounter one or two Flood on the way. After that, continue to complete the
driving portion. This will help a lot under the legendary difficulty
setting.
The
Maw: Extra Warthog: When you are about to go to the part where Echo 419 goes down,
immediately after the jump is a warthog, sitting directly under it. This is
in case a Banshee shoots yours off the cliff.
Hint:
The Maw: Flaming Warthog: When you just exit the elevator and the timer starts, keep
walking and do not get the Warthog yet. Walk up to the Warthog that is on
fire. Throw a plasma grenade, frag grenade, or blow it up with a rocket
launcher. It will fly away, revealing it is not on fire, and, therefore you
can drive it.
The
Maw: No Flood in engine room: Play through the level as usual until you get to the engine room
or the first time you go to the open armory. Before you go into the room,
turn your flashlight on. If it is a cooperative multi-player game, have
player two watch the back door with his flashlight on while player one gets
all his items, then switch. Once you both get your ammunition, walk
backwards out of the armory then continue as usually. If done correctly,
there should be no Flood in the engine room. Note: You still may run into
the invisible Flood in the armory and the little Flood in the engine room,
but not the big ones.
In multi-player mode, when you
are going to the room to blow up the couplings, in the hallway before you
get there, have one person stay around in that area. Do not open the door.
By doing this no big Flood will go after the person that will blow up the
couplings.
The
Maw: Stop the Sentinels in the engine room: Note: You can only do this in cooperative multi-player mode. When
you reach the control room, have one player go up into the area where you
open the tubes to blow up the reactors. Keep going past that area, then
continue through the doors until you reach an area with a big piece of metal
laying on the ground. Jump up on top of it, then jump to the spot in front
of it. Then, jump up to the wall on the right and stand there. If you move
from this spot, the Sentinels will just keep appearing. If you done
correctly, the Sentinels will no longer bother the other player as they blow
up the reactors.
The
Maw: Hidden letters and symbols: Go to the end of the level where you have to fling your Warthog
off the huge jump then fall and land in the tunnel. At that point, slowly
move your Warthog to the right side of the tunnel edge, so that the front
tires are going over the end. Then, get out and go on top of your Warthog.
Jump on top of the wall next to you. You may need to push the Warthog
slightly to get it to the correct height so that you can jump on top of the
wall. From here, keep going along the top of the wall and jump down to the
bridge. Go into the room on your left (with respect to the direction of
where you are walking). You should see blood splatters. One wall has the
letters "REX" written on it. This is the nickname for one of
Bungie's level creators. On the other wall is a large blood splatter with a
few swastikas around it.
The
Maw: Marathon reference: On the The Maw level, look at the Pillar Of Autumn (POA). You
should see a window with the Marathon symbol.
The
Pillar Of Autumn: Megg secret: Note: This secret Easter Egg is a reference to Meg Pallor, the
girlfriend of Halo's lead level designer Jamie Griesemer. Megg is a
combination of her name and "egg". Start a new game or continue an
old game. Choose the first level "The Pillar of Autumn". Choose
the hardest difficulty, "Legendary." You must be play on
"Legendary" to view the Megg. Skip the first cinematic if desired.
When the level starts, you will find yourself outside of your cryo tube. The
Marine will shout, "Come on, let's get out of here!". Ignore him.
Do not worry; he will remain in the same position if you do not walk up to
him. Now, turn around and jump on to the cryo tube you just got out of. Walk
to the top of the cryo tube and turn slightly to your right until the shield
tester comes into view. Jump off the cryo tube and land on top of the shield
tester. From the top of the shield tester, jump on to the walkway. Move
left, and walk all the way down the walkway until you reach the wall. From
the walkway, jump on to the yellow cylinder. This yellow cylinder triggers
the "Megg". You must get on top of this cylinder to see it. Then,
jump off the cylinder and run up to the Marine. He will shout "This
way!". Continue to play through the level as usual, until you get to
the bridge. When you are on the bridge, walk up to Captain Keys and a
cinematic will start. You can skip the cinematic if desired. When the
cinematic is over, Captain Keys will give you a pistol. Once you have it,
run back to the entrance of the bridge. You will pick some ammo. The next
step is optional; you can exit the Bridge and kill the three grunts standing
outside of the bridge -- once you do so, run into the entrance of the lounge
and you will pick up an assault rifle. Regardless of whether you did that or
not, go back inside the bridge and shoot a Marine or Captain Keys. Cortana
will come on the intercom and say, "What are you doing? Cortana to
backup, the Master Chief has gone rampage! Take him down boys!"
Normally, a group of invulnerable Marines will run into the bridge from a
room that you cannot get into, and all the door will lock shut before you
are killed. This is supposed to happen to stop you from continuing the game.
If you did, it would ruin some plot points. However, the "Megg"
secret takes advantage of these invulnerable Marines. If you jumped on the
yellow cylinder at the beginning of the level, and did everything correctly,
this should work. As soon Cortana comes on the intercom, immediately run
into the hallway of entrance of the bridge. The Marines will run out of the
door to the right of the entrance. Make sure you see the Marines run through
the door without them seeing you. If you do not look at them, they will
stand in the entrance of door until you walk up to them. Just remain in the
entrance to the bridge. You will be hidden from the invulnerable Marines for
awhile. If you just remain here for ten seconds, the Marines will say,
"Where'd he go?" and they will search around the bridge, looking
for you. When this happens, immediately run very quickly to the room where
the invulnerable Marines came from. There should only be about one Marine
blocking the doorway. If done correctly, the door to the room should be
open. Quickly run through it. You are now in the "Megg" room. You
are safe in here. The invulnerable Marines will not follow you in here. Walk
to the end of the room and look on the ceiling. You will see a giant blob of
blood stained on the ceiling with bullet holes shot in it. The blood
actually forms a heart, and the bullet holes form the letter "M".
The "M" stands for Meg.
The
Pillar Of Autumn: Shields: In level 1, there are some empty airlocks that the Covenants have
entered from. After killing the Covenants, go inside to find two extra
shields. These shields are better than your normal shield protection.
The
Pillar Of Autumn: Different messages from Marine captain: Depending on which difficulty setting you select, the captain of
the Marines says a different motivational speech. From something soft in the
easy setting, to something brutal with the legendary setting.
The
Pillar Of Autumn: Alternate view of lifeboat launch: At the place where you can see a lifeboat launch, go as fast as
you can and do not bother to stop. If you moved fast enough, when you get to
the airlock where the lifeboats launch, quickly look through the first
airlock to see it launch.
The
Pillar Of Autumn: Security to the bridge: Immediately after you receive your pistol from Keyes at the very
start of the game, leave the room. Once you have ammunition for the gun,
return to Keyes and punch or shoot at him. After that, security will be
called to the bridge and you will have yourself a shoot out with a security
team, which you will surely lose. After you die, all will be forgotten, and
you will once again be respected by everyone.
At the point where you get the
pistol, get some ammunition then return. Shoot Keyes, quickly jump down
where the two people are controlling the ship are, then duck and hide. Even
if you turn your flashlight on or off, or shoot your pistol, the Security
will not notice that you are hiding.
The
Pillar Of Autumn: Invincible marines: In the first mission, when you get your pistol from Keyes, go
back to him. Melee attack him or shoot him. Cortana will say something and
call for backup. You might want to have extra ammunition. The door to the
right (when you are going back out) will open, and lots of invincible
Marines will appear and attack you.
The
Pillar Of Autumn: Quick helpers: Play this level under the legendary difficulty setting. When you
get your gun, peek at the corner where you first encounter Grunts. Snipe
them out in the corner. Next, enter the room in front of you. Wait until
your men are dead by waiting in the corner of the room. More men will appear
to kill the Elites. When they do, the Elites will leave their backs wide
open when they turn around to kill the Marines. Rush up to the two Elites
and hit them in their backs, which will kill them. Next, throw grenades by
the other two doors, which will five you time to pick up the Covenant
weapons. Take the Plasma rifle and use it on the Covenant. Then, continue
with the level.
The
Pillar Of Autumn: Intriguing posters: Before you enter the bridge, turn around. You should see a
bulletin board with posters. Some of them say "Marine Scooters are for
Squirts! No scooters on deck"; the lost poster from the movie Alien
that reads "LOST: Calico Cat. Answers to the name Jonesy"; and a
poster that shows earth near the moon with "Fight For Her" at the
bottom.
Truth
And Reconciliation: Good sniper location: At the very start there is a hill to the right. Go up it and go
forward. You will notice a large rock that gives you a perfect shot at the
Covenant.
Truth
And Reconciliation: Easy completion: As soon as you reach the second level of the ship, press X
at the switch to open the big window. Then, when you get up to the third
level, press X at the switch where you would finish the level at.
Continue through the level until you get to the area where you hear one of
your men say," We're trapped in here! We're screwed, we're screwed
man!!". When the next checkpoint appears, the game will be complete and
you will not have to risk getting your captain killed.
The section where you are
heading into the last canyon where the gravity lift is located can be quite
difficult, especially under the legendary difficulty setting. The best way
to survive is rather than entering into the area and taking on all the
Covenant, hang back at the narrow entrance where you have cover. This way,
as the Covenant approach from the gravity lift, they come to you. From
behind your cover you can take them out while protecting yourself. The best
weapons to use from here are the sniper rifle, needler, and plenty of
grenades for the Jackals. Between each wave of Covenant, venture out and
collect more ammunition and items. Then, retreat and wait for the next batch
to appear. Finally, go out and mop up the Hunters. If you have run out of
sniper ammunition, there is more at about 12 o'clock, behind the gravity
lift. The only drawback is that your Grunts never make it.
Truth
And Reconciliation: Killing Covenants: When you start the level, go down the hill and stop. Take your
sniper out and turn on your flashlight. Snipe the Grunt in the turret and
take the rest of the Covenant out with grenades. Note: If you do not want to
use your grenades, let the Marines kill the Covenant. You will save grenades
and ammunition if you let them do the job.
Two
Betrayals: Hidden weapons: When you get out of the building in the first part of the level,
go up to the top of the ramp. Once there, you will find shotgun ammunition,
a pistol, and a sniper.
Two
Betrayals: Killing Hunters: When you go up against the Hunters when you get off the elevator,
press the button to make it go down. Then, have one of the Hunters charge
you and quickly move out of the way. The hunter will fall to its death.
When you are in the hangar,
lure the Hunters to the open dock. Stand on the very edge of the dock. When
they perform a melee attack, dodge to the left or the right and the Hunter
will fall off the edge. Repeat this until both Hunters are dead.
Two
Betrayals: Killing Covenants: This trick works best in multi-player mode, but also can be done
in single player. Go to the end where you have destroy thethird pulse
generator where the Banshee/Banshees are located. If you are having trouble
killing the Covenants because you have no place to heal, when you first walk
in on the battle between the Floods and Convenants, you will see a door to
your left. The lights will be red, but you can still go in it. This works
better on multi-player mode because if your teammate has been killed, he can
respawn there.
Two
Betrayals: Kill Master Chief: Get to the very end of the level where there are many Sentinels
in multi-player mode. Have player two wait by the spawn point in the hall.
Do not kill any of the Sentinels, and run into the last Energy Beam. When it
explodes, have player two run and spawn Master Chief ,Try to get as far as
you can outside. While Master Chief is talking to Cortona, the Sentinels
will shoot him. He will die while still talking, then his body while warp
somewhere else.
Two
Betrayals: Ghost: Playing the level in cooperative multi-player mode is
recommended. When you get to the part where you open the door and it
explodes and leaves a small crack, take a Warthog and place it a few feet
behind and slightly to the right of it. Take a Ghost and hit the warthog
parallel to each other, causing the Ghost to do a little rotation, but just
enough to squeeze you through the crack. This can be done with some
practice. With more practice, you can get it into the crack at the top. When
you take the Ghost past the part where it says"Final Run", speed
up the hill and look to your right when there are usually Flood members.
They will not appear until "Final Run" has gone off the screen,
along with every other enemy there.
Two
Betrayals: Skateboarding: At the bottom of the pyramid is a Banshee. Get in it and go to
the middle of the pyramid (lengthwise). Go up that object there and it looks
like you are grinding. To do spins, hold Right Analog-stickRight
or Left. To do a grab trick, go very high. Get out of the Banshee and
get back in very quickly. To do a stall, do the same thing as grinding, only
stop mid-rail.
Two
Betrayals: Hit yourself with the Banshee fuel rod rocket: Play the mission under any difficulty setting. Make your way to
the Banshee outside of the control center. Once in the Banshee, fly back the
way you came all the way to the start of the level. Once there, there is a
hole in the ceiling. Go to the top of it, aim down, and use R to fire
the rocket. Then, do not push anything and just free fall to the opposite
hole on the bottom of the floor. If done correctly, then you will pass the
rocket in midair. Once you land on the ground, you can get out and line
yourself up so that the rocket hits you. This will not hurt you if you are
outside of the Banshee.
Two
Betrayals: Exploring with Banshee: Play through the level until you get to the first Banshee. You
can take it back to the place you started at and fly around the Halo
holograph room.
When you get a Banshee from the
chasm after the underground tunnel, fly back into the tunnel and into the
big room that was filled with Flood to explore it.
When you get the Banshee, go to
where the nav point is pointing to. Instead of killing the aliens, look to
your left slightly to find a crevice in the wall. It is filled with snow. Go
up it, and you will eventually hit very heavy fog and become unable to see.
You can just keep going up at this point, but never reach anything.
Two
Betrayals: Shortcuts: Immediately after you exit the corridors leading from the control
room, kill everything. You can go up the ramp for supplies if desired. After
you have everything, you can simply back off the side (by the wall) and take
no damage.
After killing everything coming
out of the hallways leading from the control room, go down the ramp and kill
everything there. Do not go down the ramp on the right side of the screen
after everything is dead. The way you by-pass this is to go to the big spine
thing. You can walk down the left side of this. You must jump on and strafe
right. You will get shot at a few times, but do not worry about this. When
you are at the last ramp (where the rocket launcher is located) jump down
onto the blockade and duck to the right before you hit. If you do not duck,
you will take more damage. Then finish the mission as usual.
When you first arrive outside,
kill everyone near your exit. Then, kill everyone on the platform below you.
Once you have done that, jump off the side and slide down a few feet. Then,
do so again. Next, get to the corner and jump down the slope. This should
save you some time and bypass some pestering aliens. Note: You should have
full life when you do this or it will be difficult to get to the Banshee
without being gunned down.
After you get outside of the
canyon full of Flood, immediately after you leave the Banshee behind the
broken door on your way to destroy the third generator, you will run into a
battle between the Flood and the Covenant outside. Let them fight it out and
kill the survivors. Shoot down the Banshee with the Shade or stationary gun.
Note: remember the Ghosts' position, as you will need it later. Follow the
lights around the corner. There will be another battle going on there. Do
the same as in the first battle, and let them fight it out and kill the
survivors. There is a ledge at the end of the battlefield. Fly up it on the
left side along the rock. This may require several attempts. There will be
another battle there. Fly across the battle and shoot whoever gets in your
way. There will be two Banshees at the end. Climb in one and fly to the
platform. This way, you will not have to kill everyone on the last
battlefield.
Two
Betrayals:-Good sniper locations: When you get a Banshee from the chasm before the underground
tunnel, you can fly up to one of the ledges sticking out of the ice wall. Go
to the one that is unoccupied. You can snipe the Covenant from the ledge
without being hit. A rocket launcher is also very useful.
When you get a Banshee in the
chasm after the tunnel, there should be two parallel bridges high above.
Sneak around the Covenant and Flood. Grab a banshee and fly high. You can
snipe the Covenant from there or use your plasma cannon on your Banshee.
Two
Betrayals: Ancient drawing: Look for a tree that is the closest to the edge of the cliff. It
has bushes around it. On the stump is a picture of Master Chief, an Elite, a
Jackal, and a Grunt.
Sidewinder:
Get above the map: You can get above the map, allowing you to get around extremely
quickly and can barely be seen by others. Put a tank near the teleporter
area that you get to from the Blue Base teleporter. Then, get in a Ghost and
ramp off the tank. You will be above the map.
Take a Ghost to the cliff that
the warp in the Blue Base leads to. Get some speed and ride the Ghost
sideways toward the mountain wall. Press X to exit the ghost a short
distance before you reach the wall then press A to jump. The Ghost
should push you up on top of the level.
Create a game with 400% shields
and only rockets in multi-player mode. Then, go to the Blue Base and climb
the ladder. Get full ammo and walk to the edge. Look directly down and keep
walking until your pointer is about to go off the edge. Then, jump up and
fire. Move backwards in midair, and you should be on top of the Blue Base,
but not quite on top of Sidewinder. Repeat the same steps until you are up
on top. The only way to make a kill on top is to stand at the edge. A good
way to tell if you are about to fall of is to throw plasma grenades just in
front of you while walking towards the edge. If the grenade floats in the
air, you are safe. However, if it falls to the ground below, beware of
falling.
Put a Scorpion tank on the
cliff. Put it beside the second door on the cliff near the Red base. Line it
up sideways, then get a Ghost and ramp off the tank towards the wall. If
done correctly, you should get to a white area. Get close enough to the
ledge and you can snipe people.
Sidewinder:
Sniping position: Take a Scorpion near a red or blue base. Jump on the Scorpion,
and you will be able to jump on a ledge beneath the top floor. When your
opponents try to go into the fort, shoot their heads off. This is a good way
to get extra kills.
Silent
Cartographer: Shortcut: Jump all the way down off the ledge where you see the Chief kick
a rock off the edge by getting an overshield from outside. If you make it,
look down at the next level. There is another overshield. Jump -- you must
land on the overshield or you will die.
Note: This is best done in
co-operative multi-player mode. When you get your Warthog, go right to the
structure that is guarded by Elites and Grunts. Drive into the building
after slaughtering all the Covenant. Drive down the ramp. After reaching the
bottom of the ramp, hit the gas and floor it to the door before it closes.
If done correctly, the Warthog will be stuck in between the two rooms,
wedged in the door. Get out; the golden Elite should be dead as you ran him
over. Continue through the rest of the level as usual until you get to the
bottom and activate the map room. Then, have player two wait until the
Covenant ship has left and the Pelican dropship has landed. Floor the
Warthog over to the dropship. Jump out while the Warthog is still moving.
Press X to get into the dropship. This is also possible in campaign
mode, but when you drive through the door you cannot unlock it. You are
basically stuck. After you have finished in the map room, return to your
Warthog. If you reverse your Warthog into the door, you can become unstuck
sometimes.
After you shut down the main
security override and are out of the structure, look to your lower right.
There should be two trees. Jump onto the first tree, then walk over to the
next. Get on the far edge of the second tree and look down. You should see a
branch that sticks out slightly. Jump down directly onto that location. You
will not be able to stand on the branch, but it will lower you before you
fall. If you do not hit the branch, you could die. Even if you do hit it,
you will lose your shield. If you have an over shield, you will only lose a
little bit of the green over shield layer. This shortcut will prevent you
from having to return through the path that is in the interior of the
island. It will also prevent you from having to fight more Covenant who are
dropped off by the circular concrete structure. You will now be near the
crash of the Marine's dropship, where all the Jackals and Grunts are
located. However, you are far enough away to get your Warthog with the
Marines in it that you probably left at the start of the path. Even though
you may lose a little bit of your over shield, you would probably lose more
if you went back through the path when you battle more Covenant. It will
also saves time.
In cooperative multi-player
mode, proceed through the level normally until you get to the part where the
door gets locked. Take the Warthog you obtained to the door. Turn it around
so that the back of it is facing the door. Have the other player go between
the door and the Warthog. Get the player in the Warthog to slowly reverse up
to the player and gently push him. If done correctly, the player behind the
Warthog will appear on top of the wall. Shoot the swordsman from the top of
the wall. He will not notice you, and you will kill him. Walk forward and
you will be on the passage without having to go all the way around the
island. Unlock the door and come all the way back. Then have the player who
is past the door continue until the intermission sequence starts. Both of
you will now be on the ledge.
Silent
Cartographer: Easy completion: Take the first Warthog you get and drive it through the entire
level. When you get to where you have to go through some trees, back up then
ram forward. You will make it, and when you have to get out of it when you
are at the "shafted" part, leave it there. When you get back it
will be there. At the very end with all the Elites, just plow through them.
Note: Make sure you get a passenger and a gunner at the start.
After the FMV sequence and the
dropship drops you off, there will be Covenant waiting for you. As soon as
you are dropped off, turn around and run away from the battle. Run to the
security override location first. This way, you can pick up the rocket
launcher earlier in the level. By now, the people will say they killed all
of the Covenant in the opening battle. However, if you get into the Warthog
and drive over there, they are still battling. Kill the remaining Covenant
and get some people in your Warthog. When you get to the building with the
Silent Cartographer, kill the Covenant and enter the structure. There will
not be Covenant in the doorway, but the Elite with the sword will still be
there. Continue and finish the level as usual.
You will reach a part where the
Covenent will seal a door and leave you to go find a control center to open
it. You will need to do the following with two players in cooperation
campaign mode. Have the first person kneel in front of the locked door,
below the window. Have the second person jump on their back and kneel. You
will have a direct shot at a gold Elite. Kill it and finish the level with
ease. You will eventually see an intermission sequence that shows the gold
Elite go through the locked door. Do not worry; it is not really there
because you already killed it.
Silent
Cartographer: Easy kills: When the Warthogs drop from the sky, jump in and drive around as
normal. You can take it almost anywhere, with some patience and some risk.
Silent
Cartographer: Killing Hunters: On the way down to the Map room will be a long room with two
Hunters that are guarding the ramp that you must descend. Kill one of the
Hunters to make things easier, then get in stampede range of the other
Hunter. Make him charge at you repeatedly. Try to lure him out the entrance
to the room he was in and get him near the dropoff where all the weapons and
health packs were located. If done correctly, you will be able to get him to
charge at you close enough to the cliff that when you step aside he will
fall to his death. You can also jump down this way to a small ledge on the
left to skip a lot of this level.
This trick requires a Warthog
and two Marines. Drive the Warthog to the tree outside the area where the
two Hunters are located. Drive the Warthog into the wall to the left of the
tree. If done correctly, you should be directly in between the tree and the
wall. Keep accelerating and you should get through. Keep driving until you
get to the Hunters. Run over them or let the marines kill them, then
continue the rest of the level.
Silent
Cartographer: Kill yellow Elite easily: After unlocking the door to go to the map room, go to the
entrance with the Warthog. Instead of hopping out at the very top and
walking the rest of the way, drive with the Marines until reaching the door
that was locked then get out. Make sure to leave the Marines in the Warthog.
Go through the structure and do all the required tasks. When you come back
out, the yellow Elite will be shot at by the Marines. This also helps with
the invisible Elites at the very end, before you get picked up.
Get a Warthog and have some
Marines get in it. Move your Warthog into the first structure and kill
everything. Get to the part where the door is about to be locked. Park your
Warthog in that room with the MG facing the door. Move throughout the level
and turn off the security system. An intermission sequence will appear, but
as the yellow Elite steps out of the room, the Marines on the MG will fire
on him and kill him.
Note: This works best in two
player, just have two Warthogs instead of one down there. The MG must be
facing the door for this to work.
When ypu go in the structure
and the doors lock, kill all the opposing forces then go straight to the
locked door. Look at the little window at the top of the door then jump up
(or stand on a crouching teammate). Look in the window. You will see a
yellow Elite's head. Shoot him in the head until he is dead. This particular
Elite has an energy sword.
Silent
Cartographer: Get Warthog past the tree: Go to the left side of the tree (between it and the canyon). Get
out and go on the other side of the tree (the side where you usually cannot
get to in the Warthog). Throw a plasma grenade in between the canyon and the
jeep (just above the front wheel). The warthog should be halfway on one side
and half on the other (the wheels may or may not shake when in this
position). Then, get in the Warthog and drive forward. You should be able to
squeeze through. You can also get more Marines by using the flipped over
warthog and having them get in. drive back up against the tree tell them to
get out and get in the other warthog (behind the tree). This is an easy way
to kill the Hunters with the AA gun. Note: This is easier to do in
multi-player mode because the other person can push it forwards while
someone else throws the grenade.
Drive into the left wall of the
canyon at a 45 degree angle. Time it so that you hit the wall just a few
feet away from the tree. If done correctly, you should drive sideways on the
canyon wall for just enough time to squeeze through the tree. Then as stated
above, you can get more Marines. Alternately, if you are in multi-player
mode and you cannot quite make it, put the Warthog on its side (by using the
wall method). Have your partner in the other Warthog give you a light push
to help get you through. Note: you have to be on your side, even if your
partner gives you a push.
Silent
Cartographer: Flying Warthog: Play the level in multi-player cooperative mode. Fight off the
aliens at the beginning, then get in the Warthog and drive straight. Ignore
the other aliens. After awhile, you will reach a location where you can see
the ocean in front of you. There is a big rock on the beach. Walk up to it
and have your friend kill you. You will drop your grenades. Also kill the
marine in front of the rock. After you have killed everyone (about three
people), park the Warthog over all of the dead bodies. Then, back up and
throw a fragmentation grenade under the Warthog. If done correctly, the
Warthog will fly into the air very high.
In multi-player cooperative
mode, when you go past the place that has Warthog that is flipped over and
dead Marines, get filled on grenades. Have player one kill player two by the
rock that is nearby. Then, have player one get killed by player two. Have
one of the players get in a Warthog and drive backwards to the rock with the
grenades. Then, have player two get one grenade. Throw the grenade by the
others and the Warthog will go flying in the air.
This trick works best works in
cooperative mode. To do this, you must first get the Warthog and do not use
any grenades. Proceed through the level as usual. After Cortana says that
you need to find that panel thing, go near there. On the way, you should see
a Warthog with a health pack, grenades, and other items. Go back to where
you passed the huge circular opening before you reach the Warthog. You
should see three rocks (one big and two small). Make sure you have your
partner in the gunner's seat and that he has four frags and four plasma
grenades. Park the Warthog in front of the rock with enough space to let you
partner get out. Shoot him from a distance until he dies, then let him kill
you in the same location. Note: You must have four frags and four plasma
grenades already; you cannot pick them up from your partner's remains. Then,
go to where the other Warthog is located with the health pack and grenades.
Your partner must pick up four and you must pick up one. Kill your partner
in the location where everyone died. Then, get a checkpoint. Throw your
grenade under the Warthog. All twenty grenades will explode and the Warthog
will fly up into the sky.
Silent
Cartographer: Two Warthogs: This trick can be done in co-op or campaign mode. When you first
leave the Pelican at the start of the level, turn away from the Covenant vs.
Marine battle and travel the other way. After walking for awhile on the
lonely beach, you will notice a flipped Warthog. Drive it back to the start
and progress until FoeHammer drops off the other Warthog. You can now have
your partner get in the other Warthog and have two marines in both. This is
very useful against the Covenant.
Silent
Cartographer: Ride in a Covenant Dropship: After you first finish clearing the beach of all hostiles, hop
onto the Warthog. Go around the island in the opposite direction from which
the Warthog is pointing. Go to where the narrow uphill trail with trees
leads into the middle of the island. The easiest way to get past the big
tree is to wedge your Warthog in beside it, jump out, and ram it from behind
with the other Warthog which is flipped over nearby. Drive your Warthog near
the top of the trail and wedge it between the cliff wall and the boulder
there. You can get on top of the wall very easily by throwing a plasma
grenade at your feet (while standing on the Warthog), and counting to three,
then jumping. If timed correctly, the explosion will not kill you, but
instead throw you on top of the cliff wall. After you get on top of the
island, head straight and slightly to the left until you reach another edge.
You should be above the place which leads to the door which will become
locked by that yellow sword person. If you went the correct way around the
island and did not pass by this point already, then you will see a landed
Covenant Dropship, with its doors open. You are high up, but must jump from
here or the ship will take off. If you look around, you should see some
trees that are near the cliff wall. Fall onto the tree nearest to the cliff
wall and you should slide down it momentarily -- when you hit the ground,
you will take minimal shield damage. Next, walk straight to the Covenant
Dropship. It will probably try to shoot you. Hop into it where it is at its
lowest point. If you walk around inside awhile, you will see a hallway that
leads into the interior of the ship. However, there is a locked door keeping
you from the pilot's seat :If you are in co-op mode, you can have the other
player enter this section of the level from ground level, and, with any
luck, the ship will take off with the Master Chief inside. Note: It is very
easy to fall out.
Silent
Cartographer: Dropships stay: Play in cooperative mode. When getting out the dropships, do not
move the second player. The dropships will wait until the second player has
moved before they leave.
Silent
Cartographer: Deadly bubbles: Go into the water with your Assault Rifle about half covered in
water. With each shot, the splash will severely hurt you. Fire about one
quarter of a clip and you will be dead. It is similar to the deadly bubbles
and the lily pads. Also, stand in shallow water with the Covenant Pistol and
shoot. It will make a giant splash.
Silent
Cartographer: Help from teammates: When you get the Warthog, wait for two other Marines to get in.
Drive to where you are supposed to go and park the Warthog at the locked
door. After you press the button to open the locked door, an Elite will
appear. When you go back to the door, you will see that the Marines that are
in the Warthog have killed the Elite, saving your time and health.
Silent
Cartographer: Ammunition: When you are ready to go to the map room, kill all the Marines.
Then when you are on your way to the map room and run out of ammunition, go
back to the dead Marines. There will be plenty of ammunition here.
Silent
Cartographer: Bleeding shield: Once you clear the beach, go back to the plasma shields. Shoot
their generators that are on the bottom with a plasma pistol. You should see
purple blood around the shield.
Silent
Cartographer: Bubbles and fish: After getting a bit into the level, you will start to approach
the superstructure that has the entrance to the Silent Cartogropher that is
guarded by a Gold Elite. Go up the hill that leads to the platform of the
superstructure to your right. You will see a slightly high rock wall that
keeps you from driving the Warthog off the cliff by accident. Notice that as
you go up the hill, the rock wall will break and there will be a sizable
"hole" for you to drive the Warthog through. Drive the Warthog
through it. Then, get out of the Warthog and walk towards the deepness of
the "ocean". Note: Crouch down and walk slowly toward the deep
portion. When the water is over your head, stop and stand still. Look
straight out towards the deepness of the ocean. You will see bubbles coming
out from the surface and little fish swimming around.
Two
Betrayals: Easy completion: On the part with the land bridge after the room with Hunters,
blow everything up with the rocket launcher. Make sure to get the Covenant
Tank. This will make the Banshee fall off the bridge. There will be no
enemies remaining. Next, jump (do not fall) onto the support of the control
room pyramid. You will lose three life, but there are no enemy to worry
about. You can now walk down, get the Banshee, and fly safely up to the big
door. Kill the enemy with the Banshee and go to the control room.
